    Little Question

There's one about it now? -=Mike ...*scrolls down page* Nope, don't notice it. I seem to recall a thread on liberal talk radio. In any sense, starting a CE thread to say "nyeh, nyeh, nyeh" is kind of biting.

Is this really necessary to start a new thread over?

    Fantasy NBA League?

Down to the wire, things are looking sweet. I'm up 6-2, and Johnson just has Kobe Bryant left. Kobe needs 30 field goals, 24 free throws, 78 points, 96 rebounds, 19 steals, and two blocks to catch me in those categories. Needless to say, we are one game away from severing Johnson's last link to this board.

    Fantasy NBA League?

Michael Redd drops 36 points. One day pick-up Tyronn Lue drops 19. As long as Kobe doesn't have one of those 40 point outbursts, things are looking good for the Miracle Poison.

AL/NL TSM Yahoo (5x5 Roto) league

Since I don't believe any players are officially on the DL yet, Yahoo probably goes by that. Only the Devil Rays and Yankees open before Sunday anyway, so no worries here.

Marcus Scutaro is a more than capable second baseman. I think he'll fill in nicely.

NCAA Men's BBall Tourney DAY ONE!

St. Joseph's leads 33-27 at the half. I really hope St. Joe's can pull this off. As an aside, where the hell did they find Eddie Sutton? It looks like they dragged him off the set of A Christmas Carol.

Should they change the NBA playoffs

I don't see a problem with keeping the East/West format. Even if the East sucks hardcore, only one series sucks. I do think the NBA should eliminate divisions entirely, and just go with two leagues. What do divisions matter anymore? Then just take 1-8 and toss them in the mix.

Thorpe out of 400m Free @ Athens

The Olympic Qualifying Procedures are quite silly, to be honest. There should be some selection system, where you are selected based on your performance the last two to three years. As it is, the American baseball team isn't even in the Olympics either, because they lost ONE GAME. As a hardcore baseball fan, I can tell you even the greatest baseball teams lose often.

    Yet Another Fantasy League Thread

Traded players go through waivers. The problem arises that Urbina was a free agent, and thus doesn't fall under those rules. I would've thought that Yahoo would've listed Urbina on waivers, but apparently not.

    Yet Another Fantasy League Thread

Important Note For the AL-Only League Ugueth Urbina hit the game today, as he signed with the Tigers. However, the game placed him in as a free agent, allowing the first person to get to the computer to sign him. Of course, I did. This hardly seems fair however. I'm going to run this the same way waivers would work. If you are interested in picking up Urbina, state a claim for him by midnight Monday. The person who has the best waiver priority will get Urbina.

    Fantasy NBA League?

The Miracle Poison are hanging in, up 5-3 with two days of basketball remaining. I've got safe leads in free throws, steals, and rebounds. Combined with a 50 point edge in points, and I could pull this off. Especially since I'm playing six guys on Sunday. I have to say Allen Iverson has been the most frustrating player to have on a fantasy team. Not only is he constantly injured, but the Sixers never put him on the injured list. I constantly have to carry him on the bench, forcing me to play shorthanded. At least Karl Malone had the decency to step aside.

The Yankees have exhibition spring training games on Saturday and Sunday, against the Detroit Tigers and Yankees Future Stars, respectively. The Devil Rays meet the Toronto Blue Jays in exhibition that Saturday. The teams re-open regular season play on Tuesday the 6th, in Tampa Bay. The first Japan game will be carried on ESPN2.

    Point Made

I've been meaning to post something like that. This isn't just MikeSC. The CE folder is cluttered with biased editorials criticizing either side for one thing or another. A quick glance down the first page shows at least 10 threads started entirely on editorials. There's got to be a better way about arguing a point. Otherwise we might as well say to hell with it and just rename this folder "conservatives vs. liberals".

I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the roster. He's played two years in AAA, and really has not distinguished himself. J.J. Hardy is a better shot for stardom at this point, so there's no point in keeping him in the minors to develop him as a star. I don't think he'll start though. In other news, Miguel Ascencio is out for the season.

He was the 6th best player in the league last year. Batting average is meaningless. He still got on base 41% of the time, and slugged over 500.

    The OaO Injured Yankees Thread

You know, all the talk about Kevin Brown being injury prone is kind of silly. Brown made 19 starts in 2001, and 10 in 2002. He had back surgery in 2002, so obviously a back related injury effected him those two years. But lets look behind those years. Starting in 1991: 33, 35, 34, 25, 26, 32, 33, 35, 35, 33, 19, 10, 32. Those are Brown's games started totals. Outside of 2001-02, he has not missed any considerable time. Last season he had no reoccurance of back troubles, and finished second in the league in ERA. I've NEVER seen him have any kind of arm trouble. I just don't see Brown as especially injury prone.

Yes. Thank god Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, and Detroit got those new, publicly financed stadiums so they could compete. I've stated before, taxpayers should not have their tax dollars spent on private enterprise. Would you tolerate your taxes going towards building a brand new K-Mart so it could compete with Wal-Mart?

    The OaO Injured Yankees Thread

He's coming off Tommy John surgery. Setbacks are expected. I don't think Sheffield and Giambi are especially injury prone. Giambi's topped 150 games every year since 1997. Age might break them down. Brown's injuries are usually non-arm related. He did make 32 starts last season.

    Bill James Interview

http://www.taemag.com/issues/articleID.179...icle_detail.asp Disagree with changing the intentional walk rule. The best penalty already exists. You give the offense a free baserunner. Agree with the line about commercials. Postseason baseball is nearly intolerable with so many commercial breaks lasting four minutes apiece. Offer less commercials, and make the money back through scarcity.

But how often does it really happen? Its certainly not out of hand. I think the NFL has worse problems with pre-season injuries.

    The OaO Injured Yankees Thread

The pre-season helps work out the kinks, and its quite useful for auditioning for those open spots on your roster. As for the Yanks, as of now this injury appears to only be a bruise. Hardly serious. In reality the only big injuries the Yankees had so far are Lieber (out til May), and Aaron Boone. Bernie should only miss the Japan trip. Sheffield hasn't missed a beat.
