Vassily Jirov Wu 12 Joe Mesi Jirov won eight rounds to Mesi's four. Jirov knocked Mesi down twice, and Mesi lost a point in the fifth round due to a foul. Jirov dominated this fight. Shane Mosley Wu 12 Winky Wright Wright won round one. Wright won big in round two. Mosley rebounds to win a very close third round. Mosley wins an exciting round four. The two fighters traded rounds in the fifth and sixth. Mosley knocked down Wright in round seven. Mosley wins eight and nine, scoring a knockdown in the ninth. Wright came back to win the tenth round. Mosley won the last two rounds. Mosley won 115-111, 115-111, and 114-113. I am Surprised Jirov won so easily. I don't think the sim has much respect for Mesi's boxing skills. No surprise from Mosley/Wright. Let me stress for those who might not be paying close attention that these are SIMULATED BOUTS. The real fights come on Saturday.

Ponson for Biddle. Ouch. That's highway robbery right there.

I'll cover the Mosley/Wright and Mesi/Jirov fights tonight.

Well, foreign affairs with Bolivia would take a turn for the worse.....

Hard to say. ESPN is reporting that he plans to keep playing. I honestly don't know what to make of his condition, or how it will effect him. I'd take him with my first bench pick, and let someone else take the risk.

I did find it amusing that the computer gave you Gary Sheffield for the first pick.

The whole commentary would take entirely too much space for this board, and its monotimous anyway. I could give fight stats, jusges full scorecards, and such however. As for requests, I'll sim any fight you guys want.

Lewis had 7 inches of height on him. He didn't have a chance.

Last year I lost Mike Piazza and Vladimir Guerrero for extended periods of times, so I'm used to this. -

Sheffield's out indefinately, but I'm not panicking. I have Damon, so I'll just need to cover my utility spot. -
Yippee and fuck at the same time. The Yankee hater in me says hooray. But the realist in me says my H2H fantasy league is screwed.

Its sad that Mike had so much going for him at one point. I've seen a video with Mike Tyson featuring past heavyweights, and he comes off as a true student of the game. For four years, he was perhaps the greatest heavyweight of all time. Then he joined Don King and it all went to shit. His personal life collapsed, and his boxing skills stopped developing. That's he's still competitive late in his 30s is a testament to his raw talent. I disagree that he had a questionable chin. He was rarely knocked down, and when he was KOed, it was only after a long, sustained beating. Lewis' chin is much more questionable. As an aside regarding Foreman. Has anyone noticed that since the Thrilla in Manilla, he has NEVER been knocked out since?

Thanks to my SNKT draft, I've given the draft applet a run, and I'm good to go for tomorrow.

It's also wise to make sure those arms have something left to give. I understand that we need extra arms, I don't understand why we need this extra arm. I want my "insurance policy" to leave me somewhat confident. Because there's not much left. Besides, its 500 grand. How much harm could it do? Its not like he's Jeff W--ver.

It wasn't entirely unexpected........ http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...+henry+williams

Weird. Alright then.

Essentially, pitching talent is notoriously fragile by nature. Pitching itself is an unnatural motion, and causes strain on the arm and shoulder. Rarely does a team complete a season using only its five best starters. Injuries occur. A frequency of injuries can wreck havoc on a team. Recognizing this problem, it is wise to have a few arms available either in your bullpen or on your AAA club which can fill in the rotation if needed. All the Yankees had was Jorge DePaula. They desperately need live arms, or they could collapse if a slew of injuries bite.

1. Brian Giles isn't going to play right field as far as I know. It's Klesko's position. 2. You know I'm defending my boy Abreu here. 2003 was an out of context year for Nixon, and a down year for Abreu. Any other year, Abreu smokes Trot Nixon. 3. Ichiro deserves higher. 4. David Ortiz is ranked too highly. He hit .216 versus lefties last season. 5. Matt Stairs will likely platoon with Ken Harvey 6. Josh Phelps deserves higher. He's going to smoke AL pitching sooner than you think.
-
How is this a bad signing? Its not that the pitching staff is too shaky. Its that they're injury risks, with little depth outside the first five. El Duque gives them a little insurance, at a good price.

I'm sorry Bored but I really have to take this list to task. Damon 26th? Juan Pierre 25th? You're being WAY too dependant on OPS for these things. Both Pierre and Damon sport higher on base percentages than Anderson. That means they make less outs. I'd take either of those two over Anderson. Don't fix yourself on one statistic.
-
Damon's easily in the top half. I do agree that Beltran should be ranked higher. I'd put him first. He's truly terrific at all fascets of the game, and he's on the way up. Just check out his SB% rates. 41 for 45. That's INSANE. And Garret Anderson is ranked too highly.

Its quite simple. The media never gives my team the credit it deserves. They're always hating on my team, just because they've got a beef with our star player. However, they're in LOVE with our team's hated enemy. They can't stop giving their star player verbal blowjobs. Meanwhile, they ignore his obvious shortcomings, such as his lack of talent, and propensity towards fornicating with other men. Hope that clears everything up.
