Santo doesn't even have heels.

Beating Reyes (or practically any player's GCL stats) isn't particularly impressive. GCL stats aren't really indicative of future success. A 16 year old that can handle a professional league though is impressive. He's almost certainly now among the Mets' top five prospects. One caveat, he's likely to move off shortstop in the future. Comparing him to Jose Reyes is disingenuous, they are not similar players.

It was also the first MSG Raw.

The Yankees released Jason Lane from Scranton (understandable, since they now have a glut of outfielders in the minors). The Red Sox snapped him up. Coincidently, he'll likely play for Pawtucket, who will play Scranton in the first round of the IL playoffs.

Yeah, wish NBC had a live feed of that but oh well. Bolt is insane.

USA/Japan baseball is a half-inning away from that ridiculous tiebreaker "start with runners on first/second" rule. Yet I'm strangely intrigued.

Bash '91. Then you start struggling. Though given enough inspired Russo booking, they might make a run at things.

Dodgers 6 Giants 1 WP: Key, LP: Reynolds Bill Dickey hit two doubles and drove in two runs. The Dodgers finish first in the pool and receive a playoff bye. The Giants finish second and will have home field advantage in the first round. Next up, Highlanders vs. Yankees for the final playoff berth. -

Apparently umpire Joe West got in the way of the play behind home plate. I wouldn't sweat it, a high school pitcher is a longshot, and they will get a similarly placed compensation pick next draft.

Japan/USA Baseball going. Japanese phenom Yu Darvish is on the mound.

That Braden Walker dvd's pretty rare I hear.

A couple weeks ago six of us ran an All-Time Yankees draft. With six teams chosen, the time has come to create a competition. I entered all six teams into a baseball simulator. The games are yet to come. Before the festivities begin, I thought it would be helpful to lay out the specifics and ground rules of the tournament. 1. Each team will play ten games, two against each opponent (one home and one away). 2. The top three teams will advance to the playoffs. The team with the best record receives a bye. 3. In the case of a tie for a playoff berth (first or third place), a tiebreaker game (or games as necessary) will be held. Teams can not be eliminated in a tiebreak scenario, except via an on-field game. Seeding for those games will be decided by: Head to Head record among tied teams Overall Run Differential Random Draw 4. Playoff rounds are five games apiece. Home field format is 2-2-1. 5. Each team will use a five man rotation, ensuring two starts per pitcher. 6. Each team will use their reserve catcher in the 5th and 9th games, their reserve infielder in their 6th game and their reserve outfielder in their 7th game. 7. The extra reserves and relievers (those not drafted) will only be used in an extra inning game, or if a team has exhausted their bullpen. See the comments for game details. Yeah, Vince used to ride with Jerry Graham back in the '60s.

I'm blatantly stealing this joke from BTF. Better get the freezer ready.

If you don't want things spoiled, avoid the topic. There are too many time zones and programming schedules to set a proper time. Between NBC having taped programming, putting that same programming even later on the West Coast, Canada, Great Britain, etc. What's proper? Only fair way is as they happen.

They're doing the same for Summerslam when it comes out.

On the flip side, let's say they are 25 apart. If they primarily wrestled tag matches, what did they do to separate themselves? And the list is a Kayfabed list, NOT a workrate list.

Note to Joe Magrane announcing the Olympics, there are other ways to score besides by bunting.

Excellent. Check out Bull's BBQ, where Greg Luzinski is usually in attendance. The park itself is incredible.

Yankee Draft - The Competition
EVIL~! alkeiper commented on EVIL~! alkeiper's blog entry in Keiper's Pit
Yankees 7 Bridegrooms 5 WP: Peterson, LP: Chamberlain, Sv: Rivera Home runs by Joe Dimaggio and Dave Winfield led the way for the Yankees. Mariano Rivera pitched a six out save, retiring all six batters he faced. Giants 9 Dodgers 2 WP: Shocker, LP: Wang A close game until the eighth when the Giants scored six runs. All six were unearned thanks to costly errors by Lindy McDaniel and Babe Ruth. Highlanders 12 Gothams 2 WP: Davis, LP: Chesbro This game was actually tied in the eighth. The Highlanders plated a pair of runs and loaded the bases. Alfonso Soriano put the game away with a grand slam off reliever Bob Wickman. -
Online Olympic Baseball has text commentary, apparently by the online version of Marty Brennaman. Seriously, have you seen Hessman's numbers? He's the minor league version of Adam Dunn. That's his game. (Though Hessman can play well at third, while Dunn is a poor corner outfielder.)

Keep an eye out for Rays highlights, apparently Upton pulled a hell of a baserunning gaffe.
