The A's are deeper than the Angels, so if a rash of injuries strike the A's are in better shape. The Angels are dependant on their starters staying healthy.
-
Are you serious?
-
Holy crap, I missed that. Shame on you, Kingofthe909. The A's are prohibitive favorites, and in the top 3 in the league. While we're at it, the Phillies should have been included as well.

I hadn't noticed that before. His range factors look average. Maybe he suffers from Chuck Knoblauch syndrome. Of course, if the Yankees desperately need a third baseman, I propose trading for David Bell, of the Philadelphia Phillies. We won't even ask for a player in return.
-
Essentially, these teams stockpiles pitchers, and hope a few do well. The Tigers are using a similar method. Given the small salaries, it carries little risk.
-
Well, if you make the playoffs, anything can happen. I'd take the Sox, although its far from a sure thing.
-
It could be worse though. Lets not forget this team signed Jose Mesa.

I'll get into the spirit of the topic. Football sucks. The center snaps something called the "ball," through his legs to the quarterback. Then he passes this "ball" to guys known as the "tight end" and the "wide reciever." Presumably the wide reciever has more experience. Nope, football's not ghey at all.

One problem with Guthrie. 22 walks, 24 strikeouts. At 38, that's not very reassuring. Still, considering they'll only give Guthrie less than a million, there's not much that can go wrong.

I can just imagine future security checks...... "Are you naked under there?"

If the playoffs weren't impressive last year, then its the sport itself, because baseball doesn't get much more exciting than that.
-
ESPN reports the Yankees are trading for Mike Lamb. Lamb isn't a great player, but he can provide average offense.
-
He would be 56 if he were alive today.

Its WAY too concerned with recent history. The Marlins only BARELY outdrew the Expos in 2002, and they only did so because a "mysterious fan" bought thousands of tickets the last game of the season.
-
Well, at least two, as field goals made are also counted.
-
I actually think soccer is quite exciting at times, especially if you have a rooting interest in the teams.
-
Thanks for the correction. Those numbers are indeed against lefties.
-
The Athletics signed Eric Karros to a one year deal with an option for 2005. Karros sports career numbers of 292/362/479 against righties. I assume they'll use him in a platoon with Scott Hatteberg.

The Kickoff OB, Ball to the 40 penalty in the NFL
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to MarvinisaLunatic's topic in Sports
The reason the rule is there is simple. More kick returns, which equals more excitement. I don't see a reason to change the rule. It gives the kicking team an incentive not to kick it out of bounds. Otherwise they'd kick it out every time. -
Indeed. It wasn't considered as big a deal at the time (it was far from sold out), and networks frequently reused and recorded over tapes.
-
Its official. I-Rod signs with the Detroit Tigers. 4 years/$40 Million.
-
Fuck. This is really getting ridiculous here...... Allen Iverson, drafted first, misses a month Karl Malone, drafted second, injured Keon Clark, drafted fifth, injured Matt Harpring, drafted seventh, out for year Raef LaFrentz, drafted ninth, out for year Eddy Curry, traded for, missed a month Brent Barry, picked off waivers, out six weeks At this point, I'm shocked if someone stays healthy.

NCAA Football has nothing on boxing in that regard.

Such as? I don't think athletes' behaviours are any different from those in the rest of the world. It'd be cool to have Super Bowl I, period. No known copy of the game even exists. It is one of tv's most sought after programs.

College to NFL transition
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe's topic in Sports
I think part of the reason is that the professional league is more competitive and more specialized, thus players who do many things well, but none exceptionally aren't as likely to succeed.
