Obviously no team will likely do as badly as the Tigers, but my candidate to lose the most games is the Milwaukee Brewers. Their pitching consists of Ben Sheets and scraps.
-
I turned it down, as I really have no need for more guards. Carter and AI both dropped 31 tonight, so my fantasy team I drafted is starting to show up again.

With Shane Spencer joining the Mets, a Spencer/Garcia platoon seems like a sensible solution for right field.

Many contracts for professional athletes prohibit such activities. The recent controversy with Aaron Boone is an example. Many contracts prohibit a wide range of activities, including bowling and the like. Its all about teams protecting their investments.

I can't fault the Pirates for giving Mesa a minor league contract. Its a low risk move, and Mesa could contribute from the pen. But for Mesa to take the closers' role is laughable. I don't even need statistics to back this up. Take it from a gabberflasted Phillies fan. Nothing good can come from letting Mesa pitch in the ninth inning.
-
I certainly wouldn't rely on them. What puzzles me is that there's dozens of guys floating around who sign minor league contracts, and the Yankees haven't signed any of them. Rick Reed and the like aren't world beaters, but they can hold up the back end of a rotation. The Yankees have Jorge DePaula and that's it.
-
It illustrates a larger problem that the Yankees can't afford to lose ANYONE, because they have absolutely no depth. They don't have anyone capable of filling in for an extended period of time, and god help them if the rotation can't stay healthy.
-
He had good minor league numbers, and if he doesn't work out they have Jeremy Griffiths yet. Between the two of those guys, one of them should work out.
-
They have Tom Glavine, Al Leiter, Steve Trachsel, Jae Seo, and Aaron Heilman. Do they need more pitching?
-
I have no problem with head-to-head. I just think we should go with one matchup, one win, instead of having wins and losses added for each category.
-
I'd like to see a different scoring system. Either rotisserrie, or a straight W/L with one score a week. This eight category scoring system KILLED my team with just three bad weeks.
-
Well when the next NBA fantasy league comes along, it'll be October again. Count me in.

I caught a match of his thanks to WXW. I can't really judge if he's any good, but he didn't look out of place in there.

Lima would've been toasted eventually in Kansas City. Home Runs are forever his achillies heel, so if he'd going to be successful, his best chance is in a place like Kansas City.

Indians Minor Leaguer: Gay Porn role "a mistake"

And to think we just had a topic about Paris Hilton and Julis Erving. I think this tops that. -
Indians Minor Leaguer: Gay Porn role "a mistake"

The Indians. There have been persistant, completely unsubstantiated rumors that Piazza is gay, stemming from comments Bobby Valentine made concerning the acceptance of possible gay players in the major leagues. -

Must be a slow news day at ESPN. I remember this story making the rounds some time ago. Reports that Mike Piazza is angling for a trade are unconfirmed. -
Chris Byrd is about all there is outside of the Klitschko duo. He's not an exciting fighter, but he's a solid boxer. James Toney is experiencing a career resurgence, but he needs another fight or two to convince me.

The problem is that you'll have three different organizations, percieved as legitimate, holding fights, all three claiming to crown a new champion. Hopefully the Ring Magazine/USA Today rankings would quell that a bit, but you'd still have some doubt. Fans seem unwilling to ignore the alphabet organizations, unfortunately. As for the lineage, its been broken clearly only twice in boxing history. Around 1930, Gene Tunney retired, and a tournament was organized to crown a new champion, which Max Schmeling won. Late 1950s, Rocky Marciano retires, and Floyd Patterson wins a tournament. Otherwise, the linear champion has always been defeated at some point. I have doubts that the current powers of boxing could put together one single method of crowning a new champion. Besides, Lewis losing would make alot of people happy, and makes things a heck of alot easier.

Hogan, Jimmy Hart to start new fed

This rumor pops up all the damned time. I'd refuse to believe it until I actually see it. -
I hope he keeps fighting, because god help us if he retires and vacates the title. We'll never see a true world heavyweight champion again.

Although Michael Redd plays like a superstar, no one seems to notice.

For strikeouts, I'll just add that there's nothing inherant about strikeouts that give me any more information about a player that I can't gather from his other numbers. In the case of extreme strikeout players, fans sometimes focus on what the player can't do, rather than what he can do. As for Hernandez, I would add that his career year came at the age of 32. That's another good sign of a fluke season. Honestly, I don't see too much out there for the Yanks. A poster on another board suggested Durham/Alfonso for Soriano. Whatever the Yankees do, they'll be hard pressed to improve their team from what it was before Boone's injury.
-
So as it stands, the Yankees have their choice of Enrique Wilson and Drew Henson to play third base. I thought team depth might be a problem for Texas, but I never thought it would get exposed this early. The Yankees could make a trade, but they have very little available in trade. They'd have to take a bad contract to do it.

Saves are bullshit to start with. They're especially meaningless when applied outside to closers.
