Jesus Christ. 19 innings and over two hours worth of rain delays? I don't think that would fit on my hard drive. Off topic, you'll be happy to know Mark Quinn ended up with the Cardinals, minor league deal.

Well, that's happy TV. Watch YES network for about 15 minutes and you'll think the Yankees never had a bad day in their entire history. With fantastic classic games (Sarcasm) like Giambi's game winnign grand slam against the Twins in a nothing game. I'm the farthest thing from a Yankees fan. But that game was about as good as a regular season game gets.

Yankee fans already have the YES Network. Just watch that channel for about 30 seconds and inevitable they will show either David Wells' or David Cone's perfect games.

We're trying to figure that out too. Hell, I'M trying to figure that out. -
Well, what he wanted and what he gets are two different things. It doesn't make Vlad a liar. Besides, I never heard him say anything personally. Just his agent. By the way, does Anaheim count as a big city?
-
With Tim Salmon, Jose Guillen, Vlad, and Darin Erstad all signed through 2005, I think the Angels are sure of trading Garret Anderson in the near future.
-
I'll mark those words and stick by my prediction. The Athletics will win the American League West. Tim Hudson, Barry Zito, and Mark Mulder all pitched better than Bartolo Colon last season. And Kelvim Escobar was the only other starter to pitch better than league average last season.

Regardless of hoe talented/untalented an athlete may be, its always sad to see one go well too soon. RIP Yinka.
-
I don't think the Wild Card is a lock, not when they play drastically different schedules. Besides, are the Angels really all that good, even with Vlad Guerrero?
-
And of course, another report says it could be the Dodgers. I'd disregard all rumors until its official.
-
I wouldn't make much of it. They've been considering moving Green since last season. Apparently his shoulder isn't 100%.
-
Wouldn't be the first. I heard a rumor last month that said the Indians were on the verge of signing Vlad.
-
He still draws walks at insane rates, and Duchscherer's only 6th on the depth chart.

If your team scores 20 runs and your inept pitching gives up 21, you still lose. I was brought up under the philosophy that the pitcher is the mst important player on the field. I'm also a strong believer that good pitching will almost always beat good hitting Its a crock, to some extent. Pitching is important, but look at the Los Angeles Dodgers. They have pitchers out their ears, but they don't have anyone to hit the damned ball. You need a 50/50 balance. Besides, outside of Ponson, there's hardly any really good starting pitching to find. I think the Orioles are just looking for the best way to improve their team, and that way is to boost their offense to the point where they can win a slugfest. They also have some spare offense to trade. I'd suggest trading Jack Cust to the A's for Justin Duchscherer.

Every position wins you games. Right now their rotation looks like Omar Daal, Eric DuBose, Rodrigo Lopez, John Stephens, and Kurt Ainsworth.

Palmeiro signs one year contract with Orioles Palmeiro's solid, and improves the Orioles at yet another position.

Does anyone else find the boxes with the coaches' images intrusive? -
Why? I can understand not cheering for a player. But why actively root against them, especially when they're not in the same league as your team.
-
I believe they call that "Quaduple A" Not quite. Quadruple A is when you've hit the wall, so to speak. Too good for AAA, but just can't quite advance to become a regular in the majors. Heilman just pitched 65 innings last year, and didn't pitch well. It happens to alot of players. Most of them rebound.
-
They have one....Aaron Heilman. He bombed last year in the bigs, but he has good minor league numbers.
-
Yeah, that's probably it. Walks are nice and all, but ya know, we didn't sign him to get walks. You signed a guy who walks 100 times a year. What did you sign him for? Walks are the saviour of a team. They give you baserunners, which leads to runs. A player in a slump can still draw a walk, as Giambi does. Look at a group of elite hitters, and 90% of them draw walks on a regular basis. At least when Giambi slumps, he still produces in a way. Compare that to Alfonso Soriano.
-
Well, the 38 year old pitcher probably has the most vicious slider in the game.
-
You could familiarize yourself with the game's rules here. I think the best method is simply to watch the games. You'll pick up the basic idea of it pretty quick. If I can find a good primer on the subject, I'll relate it to you.
-
1-3 in game 2. 0-2 with 2 walks in game 3. 0-2 with 1 walk in game 6.

I have to agree. Did the pine tar really help Brett hit that home run?
