Boy does that sound familiar to Red Sox fans.

With Johnny Damon, the Sox have little need for a lead-off center fielder. While Plunderin's team looks good, that's alot of ifs to deal with. IF Castillo signs, IF the ARod/Manny trade goes through, IF the Schilling deal goes through, IF Foulke signs, and so on. With 29 other buyers on the market, things get more complicated than that. Look beyond the W/L record and the injury. When Schilling did pitch, he posted his 2nd lowest ERA as a starter.

I didn't have ANYONE play tonight.
-
Not at all. I'm just amused that our players are effectively competing for each other's teams.
-
D'backs made up for the possible departure of Schilling by signing Jesse Orosco to a minor league contract.
-
Too bad the Sox traded their top prospect for Jeff Suppan.
-
Sorry Rant. There's a topic already down the page a bit.
-
I'm amused that I'm facing Alfdogg, because the Miles/Curry trade takes effect tomorrow.

Warren Spahn's Career Statistics What strikes me most about Spahn is that he missed time early in his career thanks to WWII. Had he pitched those years, its easily concievable that he MIGHT have won 400 games.

espn is reporting a possible deal to send Schilling to the Red Sox, Casey Fossum to the Brewers, and Richie Sexson to the D'backs.
-
I didn't intend for that to be my general strategy, but it seems to work well, as your scorers are generally good in other catagories. I find it funny that despite massive amounts of scoring, I keep losing the 3 point battles.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1668284 Incorrect. Mike Lowell is NOT a free agent. The Marlins offer is probably too low, but Pudge is definately expecting too much here. Five years? Scott Boras. There's your explanation. First off, multiyear contracts are not a reward. They're a calculated risk in anticipation of future returns. I-Rod's a damn good player, but he comes with an injury risk. A five year contract is alot to invest, and it can blow up. The Marlins are going to have to be careful this offseason, especially if they want to win that elusive first division title.

Yeah, and that's really stupid as well.
-
Off to a good start today. Carter drops 21, and Jason Kidd didn't play
-
We shouldn't even have a OaO thread for mens' basketball. A thread for an entire season? It's so utterly stupid as to defy words. No offense, but the way we use OaO threads is getting WAY out of hand. What's your point? My point is that there shouldn't be a ONE and ONLY thread for an entire season of a sport.

I question the wisdom of the Escobar signing, but those are the kinds of risks a team like the Angels need to make a championship run. Escobar's in his prime, so he should give the Angels a solid performance.
-
That's why I always have my rosters fixed 3-4 days in advance.
-
That would be me. Alot of that is because I had no players playing on Thursday, while everyone played yesterday.
-
On the bright side, maybe Lou Pinella would give him a swift kick in the ass.

Rumours are mostly bullshit anyway. How much of this stuff actually comes true? And alot of offseason moves occur that don't get mentioned in rumours whatsoever. You take it all with a huge grain of salt. With that said..... Only a good idea if they get him at the league minimum. Good lord the Yankee defense could get ugly. If Schilling arrives, he better pray that he gets alot of Ks. Sheffield's been a great hitter while playing in pitchers parks. That figure sounds perfectly reasonable for Sheffield's talents.
-
Now now. Let's be fair. I'm sure it was just a typo. I mean, Plunderin would NEVER get anything wrong, would he?
-
I've looked around and several sources had no mention of an option. None of the original articles mention an extension either. One writer from the St. Louis Post Dispatch says its a team option with a $1 million buyout.
-
That reminds me. David Bell. A four year deal, and he hit worse than Burrell.
-
Can you explain that? The signing occured between the '96 and '97 seasons.

According to ESPNnews, the Royals have resigned Kevin Appier.
