Who knows? Maybe Boone leads the Mariners into the playoffs, and Boone hits a HR to beat the Sox anyway.

Alkeiper- Pocono Poison Vince Carter Allen Iverson Matt Harpring Darius Miles Keon Clark Karl Malone Kenny Thomas Raef LaFrentz Michael Redd

Obviously the Mets don't.

they kind of have to, as he's their only real consistant starter anymore. So true (except for Mike Mussina). Just look at their 2004 rotation as it stands now...... Mike Mussina David Wells (team option) Jeff Weaver Jon Lieber Jose Contreras Hardly the Yankees of even this year.
-
Yes he is. I do think the Yankees will re-sign him.
-
Perhaps it was the 3 run HR......

In contrast to the Yankees, the Marlins barely have any of their money locked up. $7 million of I-Rod's contract is deferred. Everyone else is under arbitration.

27-30 is prime.
-
I wouldn't think keeping Pudge would cost MORE money than they're paying him now.
-
Mik- would you keep Mike Lowell, or let Miguel Cabrera take over third, and use the money elsewhere?

Its going to be real interesting to see what the Yankees do this offseason. They've rapidly accumulated a ton of bad contracts (Steve Karsay, Bubba Trammell, Drew Henson, Jeff Weaver). All told, the Yankees have $108 million LOCKED going into next year. And that's before Soriano and Boone go into arbitration, and with only four starting pitchers (counting Contreras). They've got holes at right field, starting pitching, and middle relief. Conventional wison says the Yanks target Vlad, but can they keep this up? Giambi's salary doubles in a couple years.

How often does a three team trade work for every team? Florida got a leadoff hitter, Colorado got an RBI machine, and the Braves got a rejuvenated Mike Hampton.

Today's convo may be slow as it coincides with a WWE PPV.

Once Omar Minaya's gone, the Expos are fucked.

I've always had a soft spot for the Cardinals, so nothing compares to learning about Darryl Kile's death last year. Sports victories and defeats come and go, but Kile's passing really hit hard.

For our final round pick, the Pocono Poison select Raef Lafrentz, of the Dallas Mavericks. Lineup -------- G Michael Redd G Allen Iverson F/G Vince Carter F/G Matt Harpring F Darius Miles F Karl Malone F Kenny Thomas F/C Raef LaFrentz C Keon Clark Flexability is the word here. Six guys who are forward eligible, and 4 guys who can play guard. Hopefully Vince Carter holds up.

Perfect timing. I thought I'd have to leave my pick with Razateca before I left for work.

I always thought that if time travel was possible, then we'd be visited constantly from people in a distant future where time travel has been discovered. The great tragedy of the '94 strike. There's little doubt in my mind that the Pirates would've finished 43-5 and won 101 games that year. Al Martin would've become the new Barry Bonds, and earned four new wives in the process.

Let's face it. The days of the best teams competing in the series died in 1969 with the advent of the League Championship Series. The Wild Card exacerbates the problem. Any time the best team in the league can go home by losing three or five, you're going to have upsets. The problem is that the Yankees play a vastly different schedule than teams in the Central and West. I can't really trust W/L records as an adequate indicator of success compared to other teams. Note that this does not mean that the Yankees were not the best team in the AL. Baseball should do away with the unbalanced schedule, and go back to a two division format. Take the two division winners, and two wild cards if you really need them. Expand the first round to seven games. And eliminate interleague play. Not that its bad, but it muddles things up. Each team should have the same competition to get to the playoffs.

It must've been on all day.....

Don Zimmer has two rings from his playing days, on the '55 and '59 Dodgers.

There were six games. Game 6 is notable for Kenny Rogers walking in the winning run.

1996- Interesting, because the Yankees return to glory, and win 4 straight to do it. The Leyritz HR game is a classic. 1998- Just sheer dominance. 1999- The worst year, because it didn't seem like anyone would beat the Yankees, and none of the NL teams inspired confidence. The Braves were more boring than the Yankees at that point. 2000- The postseason wasn't bad since some new faces showed up (namely the Cardinals) but no one cared about the Subway Series. The actual games were pretty good. The Yankee team that year, however, hardly felt like champions. 2001- One of the great World Series. And I was pulling for the D'backs at that point (Obnoxious Yankee fans will do that to you).

Dames, I seem to recall Scott pimping the SmartMarks on a few other occasions.
