The Pat Venditte Rules

The best part of Wargames '89 was Paul attempting to shove his phone through the cage, panning out to see Tommy Young glaring at him. Terry Gordy and Steve Williams brawling against one another is notable too.

I get the feeling I should delete interleague play before looking at win/loss records. Only five teams in the National League are above .500 right now. Only four teams in the AL are below .500. ESPN.com added playoff odds to their regular standings page. I actually disagree with that. Standings need to be straight facts, not projections. I think a lot of fans are going to misconstrue what they mean. The White Sox have won seven straight while the Tribe lost five, dropping the Indians to 12.5 out of the division race. Time to write them off.

What the Rays did is shore up their defense, turning it from historically bad to pretty good. The run prevention followed. I'm not sold on them as division favorites yet, I think they will come back a bit in the second half. It will take a big slide though to take them entirely out of contention, and I think they will win the wild card at least this season. What is scary is that their best pitcher is yet to come.

Here's a first (for me at least). In the Scranton/Lehigh Valley game, Jason Lane scored from first on a WALK. Eric Duncan walked with ball four a wild pitch. Lane took off for third, catcher Jason Jaramillo threw the ball past third base to allow Lane to score.

Vader was indeed in the '93 version, he went bell to bell. We used to have a video store that carried the '87 Great American Bash tape. That had both Wargames matches from that tour, and several other good matches. The second Wargames is good, the first one is ***** territory. The 1995 version wasn't bad at all, and in fact Sting and Shark starting off put on a good five minute segment. 1992 is an absolute classic, possibly the greatest match WCW produced in the 1990s.

Really now?

The match on the Horsemen dvd is actually from 1988. The original has yet to hit dvd.

The ECW show is the infamous lesbian angle, so you might've wanted to see that. A torrent site should have the show available before long. -
Usually an eight-man Texas Tornado style tag match is the kind of event that lets you hide a guy's weaknesses. Hadn't seen it before.
-
This is really true throughout their history. The Rockies usually have the greatest differential between their home and away records in baseball.

R.J. Swindle has been called up to Philadelphia. Swindle's numbers speak for themselves, a 10:1 K/BB ratio, three career home runs allowed in over 200 professional innings. He does not have overpowering stuff, he's a lefty with two breaking pitches. A mid 80s slider, and an eephus curveball.

I don't know if this has been posted, but BBC News has an article on Kofi Kingston. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7469398.stm

I'm glad the Bockwinkel draw is there, it beats a VHS copy.

Brett Myers was optioned down to AAA. On a professional level, he may be physically hurt and trying to pitch through it. Hopefully he can relocate his stuff in any case. On a personal level, fuck him and his wife-beating ass. The Phils also signed their first round pick, Anthony Hewitt and assigned him to Clearwater. Unless the intent is simply to condition him in their Spring Training facility, that's awfully optimistic.

They're teenagers. It just might be apropros.

Bret Hart has a temper tantrum at Pro Wrestling HOF induction

I haven't seen the list, but there are guys like Gene Kiniski, Killer Kowalski, Mad Dog Vachon, Eduoard Carpentier, Roddy Piper, Hans Schmidt, Whipper Billy Watson and Pat Patterson who likely occupy top spots. If wrestler/promoters are considered, Stu Hart and Jacques Rougeau Sr. probably rate highly. -
In this case, there has not been any pennant race action in the NL in two weeks.

Chattanooga scored two in the 15th, turns out you left too early.

WWE/WCW Match Backwards Draft

We actually ran the concept in 2005. There will be one, likely in the offseason as the others clear out and regular talk on the sport wanes. -
WWE/WCW Match Backwards Draft

This is just an opinion, but isn't it time to give this concept a break? -
Two choices. Let's see. Roddy Piper vs. Greg Valentine -Dog Collar Match, Starrcade '83 Pat Patterson vs. Sgt. Slaughter - Alley Fight at MSG (1981)

The Yankees called up David Robertson from AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. 23 years old, Robertson has 187 K's in just 136 career minor league innings. He has yet to give up a home run in his professional career. He nor his stuff is visually impressive, but he produces results.

Give me a couple days, I'll try to develop a list of old school things. I think Fred Blassie/John Tolos from 1971 in the Olympic Auditorium should be on there. -
This interleague stuff is incredibly frustrating and tiresome to watch from the perspective of the National League. When their Boston series began, they were three games up on the division. The Phillies have stunk up the joint, going 2-7 in their last nine games. Now? Two games up. It seems like the entire National League has just stood idle for the last two weeks. I mean, when you go 2-7 it should hurt your standing somehow.
