7:45pm and it's the top of the second. Let me again state what a boring ass style of baseball the Red Sox play.
-
That the pitcher can do that is the point. You never see pitchers doing that in professional leagues.
-
Incredible finish just now, with LSU knocking out Rice with a bases loaded double with one out in the ninth to win 6-5.

Little league pitchers can hit because the competition is much, much easier. You can tell how advanced a league is by where their best hitters usually play. If the pitcher bats fourth, that doesn't say much for the league. I'm not opposed to the DH. The NL "strategy" is overstated. If the pitcher comes to bat with runners on and less than two outs, he bunts. Otherwise he flails at the ball. A lot of effort it took for the manager to figure that out. It's not exciting, almost never exciting, to watch the pitcher hit.

What makes Hank's comments irksome is this was an issue he was conspicuously silent on before Wang's injury.

This year's Rumble had quite a few great points. Michaels attempting to toss Undertaker every time Taker attempted an elimination. The Hardcore Holly/Michaels/Undertaker interchange. Piper and Snuka.

Everything about this move is designed to duck media scrutiny. 1. It occurred at midnight local time, 3am in New York. Too late to hit the newspapers today. 2. It occurred on the west coast, almost in the city furthest from the team's home park. 3. The Mets do not play at home again for a week. 4. Bill Bavasi got fired yesterday as well, adding to the news stories. 5. The NBA Finals may be over tonight, dominating Wednesday's sport sections. I'd agree with the writers who say this is an act of cowardice by the Mets' management.

WWE 24/7 Classics OnDemand General Discussion
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in WWE Multimedia
I think Warrior/Goldust from IYH was unbelieveably awful, though I don't remember right off. Do they really need to split a two hour show into two parts? WarGames '92 is simply one of the greatest gimmick matches of all time. ***** easy. Killer Kowalski vs. George Bollas, aka the Zebra Kid. That should be interesting. -
http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/ar...b&fext=.jsp A lot of fun, despite the rain delay. Matsuzaka looked good, no sign of injury lingering.

I actually think 1995 was a hair better. At least it had flow and action. 2006 was just a spotfest with multiple participants laying around if they didn't have a spot to do. 1999 was the absolute pits with horrible booking all around.
-
That makes it mw679's pick, followed by Canadian Brandon.
-
I know this is supposed to be an '04 rematch, but how many of those guys are still on the team AND not injured (unlike Schilling, Pujols and Ortiz)? In the Cardinals' case, Jason Isringhausen.
-
NWA often had Florida talent appear on their shows around '85. Backlund was one of them.
-
Del Ray actually appeared in WCW ten years earlier as a jobber named Jimmy Backlund.

I love the sporting events, but the last several Olympics have felt like episodes of Dateline with all the damned human interest stories sprinkled in. It's so over-produced that you get surprisingly little sporting action.

Czech, the reason being is that twice in the tenth inning, Utley fielded a ball and threw to Gordon covering first, and they botched the play both times. Either would have been the third out of the inning. As far as American/National League, let's be clear on the difference between hitting and overall quality. The National League is of course going to generally post lesser hitting numbers as a whole, because their pitchers occupy a spot in the batting order. I think the point Dandy is attempting to make though is that the average hitter of the National League is stronger. Take hitting by pitchers out of batting statistics each year, and the NL beats the AL in batting and slugging percentages. Of course you can blame other things for that, like ballparks or pitching. The perception of the American League as the stronger league stands. How much of that is legitimate I do not know. I do believe the difference is slim and not an overriding factor in baseball as some would believe. The reason it popped up in the first place is (I believe) due to the Yankees/Red Sox arms war going into overdrive, and other teams adapting to keep up. The National League does not have such an issue, as no team dominates from year to year.

I think I know what Chase Utley and Tom Gordon are doing tomorrow.

Play at the plate in St. Louis. Yadier Molina was knocked cold on a collision by Eric Bruntlett, and held on to the ball! Molina is still down, I really hope he's ok.
-
The Cardinals' pitchers have lost all control as they've walked four straight hitters to tie the game. So Taguchi got a round of applause from the home crowd for his pinch-running appearance.

The league argument is really irrelevant in this case. Myers' ERA was 3.72 and 3.91 in 2005-06. Coming into today it was 5.34 (and he allowed 6 ER in 6 IP). Pitching in the same division the whole time, the competition hasn't changed. Only the results.
-
God DAMN Brett Myers sucks this year.
-
They were one and two in the '92 Rumble.
-
Miles is the best short reliever the Cards have.
-
Kudos to Aaron Miles for stepping in and pitching a 1-2-3 ninth.
-
Cardinals need to throw in the towel on this one. What a brutal fourth inning. A leadoff out followed by nine runs.
