The U.S. softball team is probably warming up for the Summer Olympics.

Consider how much of that is open space in Texas. I think it shows well what teams have strong secondary markets and which do not. Before the '93 expansion, the Royals used to claim the entire area from Kansas City west to the Rockie Mountains. Haven't we been expecting it before every trade deadline the last three or four seasons? This year Dunn is a free agent following the season, no club option or anything.

You tied for second place, you're only above the Hellraisers alphabetically. They won the head-to-head matchups 17-7, pretty convincing.

Joe Posnanski's The Soul of Baseball is on sale at amazon.com. An absolute blast to read, if you haven't done so already.

Some of those title matches look very interesting. Stampede: This looks to be Mr. Sekigawa vs. Don Gagne. Sekigawa is better known for his run as Mr. Pogo in Japan. Gagne ended up in the WWF wrestling and managing as Frenchy Martin. Mid-Atlantic: Paul Jones vs. Jack Brisco. Was Jones wrestling babyface yet? Bockwinkel vs. Curt Hennig is listed. It would kick ungodly amounts of ass if that were the 60 minute New Year's Eve draw. -

Why does Vince McMahon hate Randy Savage?

Scroby, how about the talent themselves?

Playoffs kicked off last night. Took my first two games, both on walk-off victories. Won game one with a walkoff single after Kent Tekulve lost the lead in the top of the inning. Game two saw Jose Cruz hit a grand slam in the ninth to win 9-8! Now it's off to Olympic Stadium for games three and four. Now I just need to figure out why my Yankee Stadium playoff games are only drawing 27000.

I was surprised that Bourn isn't quite near the record. The highest percentage I found was Vince Coleman in 1986. Coleman reached base I estimate 209 times. He stole 107 bases, meaning he stole over half the time. My personal favorite season is Tim Raines, 1981. Raines stole 71 bases in 88 games, a pace equal to Rickey Henderson's record breaking season. The runners with 90+ steals tend to have a ratio between .45 and .52.

Vampiro, I'm just being facetious. Note that I went along with it afterwards.

What's the lamest topic Vampiro69 has created? What was Ric Flair's best match? Is Lita a skank?

Considering I thought they'd be awful, it's a great start. I think the offense can hold up, but I doubt that pitching staff. Particularly with their infield defense. I'm more stoked that the Phillies haven't stunk early in the season.

Fernwood's a resort auditorium in my area. I attended my first live wrestling show there, a live Raw and taping in November of '93.

I should note that at some point, Crockett ran a brutal angle where the Horsemen attacked Morton and rubbed his face into the concrete floor, leaving his nose broken. That added heat and made it into a personal battle rather than simply a title bout. Morton would get his revenge eventually, the blowoff was Morton and Gibson beating the Andersons in a cage for the tag titles at Starrcade.

The umpires were correct and the Mets incorrect. If an improper batter makes an out and the opposing team appeals, the proper batter (Patterson) is out. Play continues with the next batter in the order, in this case Ross. Rule 6.07 (b) http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/downloads/y2008/off..._the_batter.pdf

Jonathan Coachman leaving WWE for ESPN

What makes Jim Ross a good announcer is that he has an incredible ability to make a moment seem important, to add drama/excitement to a match. He has timing I have never seen duplicated by any other announcer. -
Does it say Fernwood on a banner?

I'd say 5-10% at best involves booking matches and angles. Indy promoters need to locate venues, supply proper rings/equipment, advertise, book the talent and pay them, set up the necessary EMS coverage and satisfy other athletic commission requirements, figure out financials including tax payments and payroll, sell tickets, etc. It really is more business than fantasy booking.

Handicapping the final series. CENTRAL: Montreal has a one game lead with three left. The head-to-head is tied, so the second tiebreaker is run differential. Montreal is +19, St. Paul is +9. St. Paul will almost certainly need to overtake Montreal by two games to win. WEST: Anchorage has a one game lead on both Moreno Valley and Ohio. The Ohio Hellraisers have both the head-to-head and vs. division tiebreakers locked up, so they just need to tie someone to advance. Whoever wins the Anchorage/Moreno Valley series will guarantee a playoff spot. The Ohio Hellraisers need to win two of three to guarantee a playoff spot. Ohio holds all the tiebreakers, while Anchorage has lost the season series to both Ohio and Moreno Valley.

They got several main events on the '86 Great American Bash tour out of it, leading to the Flair/Morton cage match seen on the Horsemen dvd.
