I dislike this "loser gets banned" stuff. Let's see how much fun it is when your neck is on the line.I'm having a ball, you balding pissant. Look, I'm sorry that "let's try not to make the problem worse" was such a grievous tactical error on my part, but it seemed like a defensible idea at the time. I love that it took your new childish grudge against me for questioning Pretend Olympic Baseball to finally vote in any sort of best/worst thing, which you said you could never do as an impartial moderator. At least you took the time to pick 15 other people! You're a farce.
I broke my rule and voted last year.

I don't recall interacting with any of the people who voted for me. Huh.To be fair, I haven't interacted with most of the people I voted for. Most of my votes are in appreciation of the opponent.

1. Goldengreek
8. Xavier Cromartie
Really, Goldengreek is a bad poster. I don't agree with Ortonsault at times, but what he writes is insightful.
4. KOAB
5. theone
I'm not exposed to theone enough.
3. YKRG
6. Jerichoholic82
I think Jerichoholic82 is a terrible poster, but he's not malicious about it.
2. TaigaStar
7. NoCal Mike
I find nothing really annoying about TaigaStar. NoCal Mike's avatars though disturb me.
1. Cabbageboy
8. JN News
For current events. Cabbageboy is an acceptable Sports poster.

1. RoHo
8. HarleyQuinn
How the heck did HarleyQuinn get into a worst poster's tournament?
4. Chazz
5. Matt Young
I'll say the Fantasy Baseball debacle.
3. Jingus
6. Czech
Three reasons here.
A. The WBC bashing.
B. "We should make an attempt to normalize Staff/***** relations."
C. Because I dislike this "loser gets banned" stuff. Let's see how much fun it is when your neck is on the line.
2. Marvin
7. DarKnight
Marvin gets way too much shit.

That's harsh for eight hours. Especially when that's the time for a normal work day or night of sleep. It's a reasonable time to be away. 16-24 hours, yeah.

Note to Rick Sutcliffe. It was not Utley's "presence" that caused the Phillies to win the World Series. It was his offense and defense.
-
Nice groundout by Jeter. Luckily the Americans have a winner like Jimmy Rollins to bail them out.
-
Solid performance from the Americans thus far.
-
Really. There is nothing wrong with starting topics.
-
Let's run with it then.
The way I see it, there are a ton of good wrestlers out there. There are few really good announcers though. And one of the best was THE voice of Mid South wrestling. With my 11th pick, I select Jim Ross.

So whose turn is it?

Baltimore would be a good site. They have no hockey team, so there's no established winter sports team.
It seems to me that the NBA has more potential sites than any other sport. Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Seattle, Kansas City. I could see any of those cities supporting a team.

Vanden Hurk is essentially pitching at home.

Once again, all the important shit happens when I'm gone.I leave to take an important shit and this happens.

I was going to challenge Czech to a duel, but I can't find an appropriate jpg of Homer holding a glove to alleviate the tension.

Watching Aroldes Chapman today was interesting. He really strikes me as the Cuban version of Lefty Grove. A few similarities.
-Both are left handed pitchers.
-Both are tall and lanky, with outstanding fastballs.
-Both struggled with control early in their careers.
-Both flashed immaturity on the mound.
The Cubans are the highlight of this tournament. Great talent that we don't see on a daily basis.

Any other tyrants need praising? We could go for four in a row! Say what you will about the land deals, but George W. Bush did a lot of good by building the Ballpark in Arlington.Don't you have some psycho bitches to lobby reinstatement for? Piss off.

Wrestlemania X I fondly remember because in addition to the two great matches, Bret Hart won the world championship back from Yokozuna to top the show. Even if the match wasn't great, that was a feel good moment. There's some junk on the card but it's kept short.

Gagne's a good pick. The shame is that he's remembered as the balding company owner 30 years into his professional career. In the 1950s he was a legitimately great junior heavyweight with a championship background in amateur wrestling.
I could see that look getting over today.

And man, say what you will about Fidel Castro. But the idea that one of the World's longest reigning dictators was a former pitcher and a better baseball analyst than the guys on American tv is awesome.
-
One of the interesting sidenotes going on is that Magglio Ordonez is getting booed viciously by his own crowd. Ordonez appeared on Venezuelan tv in an advertisement supporting Hugo Chavez and the elimination of term limits.
-
So it's USA/Dutch at 7:30 tomorrow.

Let's try something new and a little different. Once a month, a new vintage match to discuss. To kick things off, Buddy Rogers meets Killer Kowalski in a 2/3 falls affair.
Interesting stuff here. Rogers was a wonderful heel on the mic. Kowalski had psychology down, working the leg of Rogers and possibly preventing the figure four. Rudimentary high spots bring finishes. The fans were tremendously into the action.
I'd love to hear some other thoughts.

Hold up EHME. We're running Mondays-Fridays, no Saturday picks.

Upcoming Schedule, Times Eastern.
MONDAY
Venezuela vs. Puerto Rico 8pm, ESPN
Cuba vs. Mexico 11pm, ESPN2
TUESDAY
United States vs. Venezuela/PR Loser 7pm, MLBN
Japan vs. Cuba/Mexico Winner 11pm, MLBN
That next US game is probably the most important game of the tournament, and having it air on MLB Network is something they really need to work on next time around.
