Cool, good stuff alf. I'm very happy with my team so far. There's only one more guy I'm keying in on in the draft and I'm hoping he doesn't go in these next 2 picks... After that the rest are just going to be stat specific players.

This has been a nice 20 hours without a draft pick. I'm sure it'll go at least another 4 hours until Adam's time limit is up before we get a pick. Things sure are moving right the fuck along... I think its time for 12 hour limits. We've dicked around long enough. Everyone is checking this thread frequently except a select few people. Adam was even on at 2:30 am cdt time. People need to leave draft picks with someone if they aren't going to be around, think there is a chance they won't be around when there pick is getting close, or be around and not check the damn thread.

Yes, that's how it always works with waivers. Who ever originally picked first in the draft gets the 20th waiver position and who ever picked last in the draft gets the first waiver position. Also if Alf feels the need, the commish can modify waiver order priority for each team. This should be possible. I know we did something similar the other year when yahoo randomly decided to strip Fantasy Basketball of the DL position. We added an extra position after the draft was over to compensate. What could claim players one roster spot at a time and it'd still be like rounds kind of, but with waivers it'll still take about 2 to 3 days per round and that’s only slightly better than our current rate. We didn't finish the baseball keeper league draft on time this year and what we did with the last round was the commish took a list of prospective players from each team and went through and figure the draft picks out that way. If a team didn't submit a list than they automatically received the top free agent left according to the yahoo rankings. I think we should be ok on time if we can get everyone checking this shit frequently. I'd like to get most of the draft done before we have to try and get everyone to claim players off waivers to fill out rosters, mainly because I don't think everyone will do it and we'll have some teams for a short time without full rosters. Hell, I've got accounts on every instant messaging program, we could always try and get some group shit going on one of those things if no one wants to try the chat applet on the board.

That works. If we really need to miss the 1st week I'd rather do that than chance what could happen with a Live Draft.

I'm normally fine with Live Drafts but the only problem I see with a live draft is stuff will get fucked up if not everyone shows up and pre-ranks the players in order correctly. I've also known some people in some very few cases to have issues with the yahoo live draft java applet where they have a difficult time with applet not selecting the players the click on. I know I've commished a lot of yahoo leagues and unfortunately you can't force pre-rank players for teams so that creates an issue especialy if Adam is going to be gone for an extended period of time. A lot of these times aren't going to work out to well for the people from the West Coast, Hawaii, and Australia. Just another idea. We could always try and get people in the chat room at the top of the page a couple days in a row at the same time and try and get some of this shit done. The chat will serve as a way to get some rapid fire picks done because we need to get at least 8 or 9 picks a day at this rate to finish this. If you can't make the chat that night and it looks like you are going to have a draft selection pm a list to alf or someone else. I think that should work.

I'm more than fine with 12 hour time limits. I'm like IK, at this stage of the game i'm not concerned about possibly missing out on Rasho Nesterovic and having to settle for someone else that very well might not remain on my team longer than a month and a half. For me the last 4 rounds are always either hit or miss with my pick selections. There are still some quality players left that are difference makers for this round, but I think the last 3 rounds should be 12 hours at max.

Kobe wants to play in Chicago and that's where LA could get the most in return for him, but Chicago absolutely won't make any deal for Kobe this season. No chance in hell. Paxson wants to see how this team is going to work out now that Deng and Gordon have progressed another year. If Chicago still can't get anything done in the playoffs they will try and make a deal for Kobe. Bulls will have to give up some combination of Deng, Gordon or Hinrich, Thomas or Noah, some extra bad contracts and some draft picks. The Lakers are going to want the team's best player in return for Kobe to try and at least draw some fans to the arena. Chicago would have to try to package Gordon in the deal and try and hang on to Hinrich. I really don't see Ben Gordon being an effective point guard for Chicago if he would still be there after any sort of trade. I think a lineup of Ben Wallace, Noah, Nocioni, Kobe, and Hinrich would be pretty damn good team. I would assume if the Bulls landed Kobe they could probably attract some other cheap veteran scavenger wanting to tag on and try and win a championship.

I was thinking the same thing the past few days... that it's going to be pretty tough to get this draft done on time. We made some good progress yesterday. We could always lower the 24 hour time limit to 12 hours. That should help speed things up a little more. If it really gets down to it we could try getting everyone on for a chat or something in the last week to finish the shit up.

I think MJ usually posts on the other board. He didn't make any indication of not running this next year so I'd assume he's still going to run it. If not I’m sure he’ll let us know. The way I look at it. In a league this size you get about one shot at landing someone off the waiver wire than you are sent back down to 20th and have no chance at ever getting a top guy off waivers. I managed to grab some nice young players off the free agent list this year. I'm not really a fan of the idea of forcing teams to give up a player after 3 years. Maybe readjust the draft round value of the keeper according to the average round they are being drafted in the yahoo public leagues after 3 years, but personally if someone has the top player in the game I don't think they should only have a 3 year limit on keeping that player. They should at least get the option of readjusting the keeper value that way when they get a guy young off the free agent list they aren’t getting him essentially for free any more after 3 years. Or we could re-evaluate the way we use the 6 keepers spots. Like each team can only have 2 keepers that are declared long-term keepers that can remain on their team for longer than 3 years with the readjusted value. The rest of the keepers would only have the life span on the team of 3 years than they age out. This way the teams won't stay stagnant for years but managers have the option of keeping 2 core franchise players. Kind of like the franchise tag idea. It's complicated and going to be more work for the commish at first and in 3 years...but I'm really opposed to the idea of having to get rid of all my keepers after 3 years without having some sort of option to have their draft value re-evaluated. BTW, that was a nice Championship match this year that I got t watch from way down in 18th place. A hard fought championship match between Deep Thought and Cuban Linx. That match up was in a virtual tie after the 1st week of the championship match up. Deep Thought barely got the win with a 6-5 victory.

I'd like a 20th player, but we absolutely can't find someone a bye week will be fine. I can't believe we can't find someone for a 20th player. Normally people are beating down the doors to get into this league.

I agree. I want this to move along too, but I don't see how we can finish the first madness round without that team drafting. Anyone taking over that team is going to have absolutely no chance in hell if they don't get a first round pick.

My favorite thing about this draft every year, the hilarious pictures. The Kenny Thomas Pumping Gas picture is still the best in my book. Hopefully we can find something to rival it this year.
