I was really hoping that Weaver would fall to the next round so I could get a shot at him.

Bauer has had plenty of time to pick. I say move his pick to the end of the first round and if he doesn't pick by them to give his team away to someone else. We need to get this going otherwise Roger Clemens will actually end up being a legitimate first round selection. I also think we need some kind of time limit for each person's draft pick. 24 hours should be plenty of time for someone to check the board and see if it's their turn to pick. If they don't select in 24 hours they get booted to the end of the round. That's my though on the matter.

I doubt we would get done with more than 2 rounds. The NBA Keeper league takes almost half a week to get one round drafted.

I hate the Holds category but in a league of this size it's almost necessary. I don't see how adding Doubles and removing Hits would make the hitting statistics fairer. It would lower the value of batters that get triples. With the Hit category, a batter hitting a triple would help the owner out by logging a statistic in the Hits and OBP categories during that at bat. Removing the Hits category and replacing it with the Doubles category would give the owner of a player that gets a triple only one positive statistic for that at bat, OBP. It would actually make a triple less significant than a double. I say since the league doesn't like the Hits category that we should go with SLG for the replacement. That way Singles, Doubles, Triples, and Home Runs are all summed up in a nice weighted average.

    Tiki Barber

Exactly. Tiki Barber was a guest on PTI before the season started. He basically said that if the Giants were able to win the Super Bowl this year it would make it pretty easy for him to walk away from the game because he would have accomplished everything he wanted to in the NFL. He then said that if they didn't win he'd have a harder time walking away. He never said 'I'm definitely going to retire after this season is over.' He said that it was a strong possibility but he never said that he was 100% done after this season. His future career as a broadcaster can easily be put on hold for one more year. If the Giants do play well and advance pretty far in the playoffs but come up only 1 or 2 games short of the title and he still doesn't have any massive injuries he will come back to play again next year. No athlete that wants to win a title can come that close and just retire. Especially with an offense that is improving as Eli matures and a defense that has found a new life after their bye week this year. I don't see why his possible retirement just now made big news just recently when he made these comments before the season. The man clearly wouldn’t be retiring out of being selfish. If he wants to actually be able to play with his kids and not have to be in a wheel chair when he is older is that being selfish? Fuck no. Even if he does retire after this season, people need to start understanding that most RB's bodies can't handle playing past the age of 32. They've had too many years of abuse to their body. It should be shocking that he is looking at what he’s going to do when he’s done with the game. Just look at Curtis Martin. He has had an incredible career until his body hit its limit, when he turned 32 last season. Priest Holmes has had an amazing 3 ½ years, until he turned 30 and was destroyed by injuries. Corey Dillon turned 32 this past week. His production has steadily dropped last year. It was enough that the Pats new they should go out and draft his replacement. I fully expect Laurence Maroney to start at RB next year for the Pats. Tiki is 31. If Tiki does stick around after this season he only has 1 or 2 more years left before his body will hit it's limit and he will be done. Tiki is smart he knows that he can only play at this level for a short while longer. If he has to pull a Bettis and try and get the team to win the Super Bowl for him just because he's retiring than he is smart by playing that card. As for the HOF argument, if he retires after this year he isn’t going to be a first ballot HOF. He will get in eventually but not on the first try. If he plays next season and gets the same kind of stats he has throughout his career he will start to look better as a first ballot guy.

    OK, be straight.

I do not want to cause too much commotion here, but it's a good thing that Leena is back because Princess Leena is a top 5 poster of TSM from what I've seen so far. Despite people here being negative to her at times, she still loves this place. That shows you something. Other people would understandably pack their bags but not Leena. My little pussycat really should be considered for a more powerful posistion as she seems to be the best option for a brand new moderator. Is there someone who can nominate some other mods if we are going to be having some more here at TSM? We should be looking at all possible candidates. What about Hawk34? How about bringing Loss back? Could Bob Barron be a good mod? Let's get some names out there. I could have sworn that was Banders before I looked at who made the post.

    NBA Preseason Thread

I don't understand the point of the NBA using a different ball. Shaq said it handles like a toy and Steve Nash said the ball just feels like it sticks to the floor when you dribble it. Did the NBA ever issue any kind of statement saying why they felt changing the ball to the new style is going to help improve the game?

Chandler played 79 games last year. He started 50 games. He only played 35 games in the 03-04 season. Chandler also averaged an impressive 1.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.8 fouls a game in the playoffs against Miami last year.

    NBA Preseason Thread

The Bulls had to pull the plug on the Chandler experiment at some point. The guy is getting paid an insane amount of money for little useful production. To think that Ben Wallace and PJ Brown are just minor upgrades is pure lunacy. There is one distinct reason Chicago is going to be better with Ben Wallace and PJ Brown on the team this year, Skiles will actually play them in the 4th quarter. Skiles had absolutely no trust in Chandler towards the end of last year. You can’t win playoff games without having quality big men in the paint at the end of the game to defend. Instead of Chandler progressing from the previous year, his production actually managed to drop last year. Malik Allen played better than Chandler did. Eventually Skiles was using Tyson as backup center because he just couldn’t get it done against opposing teams starting bigs. Chandler was coming off the bench during their 12-2 run to get into the playoffs at the end of last year. The Bulls had zero inside presence on offense or defense. The Bulls will have a more dynamic offense with having two veterans that can actually do something useful in the paint. Wallace turns the ball over a hell of a lot less than Chandler and doesn’t have the 4 foul a game average that Chandler does. Chicago also didn’t have anyone decent at power forward. PJ Brown is an enormous upgrade over the tandem of Michael Sweetney and Othella Harrington any day of the week.
