  1. I met Hogan at an airport in North Carolina in 1991. He was actually pretty cool about the whole thing and I got a picture with him and stuff. Granted, I was 7. But hey, at least he didn't shun me.

The OAO Raw thread for 07.05.04

Seeing as the show is 6 days away, and they have 3 matches, I'd have to think so.
  3. And the sad thing is he can't hit them. ^

Who's the Worst WWE Champion Ever?

No votes for Yokozuna? I thought his 9 month reign was painful to watch.
  5. Does anyone else see something wrong with the tag team champions on Velocity?
  6. Survivor Series 96 Wrestlemania XIII Canadian Stampede If you can watch those 3 matches and not think that Austin is an amazing worker, there will be no convincing you otherwise. <----Is still bitter that Bret/Austin never got a proper blowoff.
  7. When did Shatner ever have a match? From Wrestlecrap.com via the Google cache: William Shatner, Pro Wrestler: Yes, believe it or not Captain Kirk actually got in the ring and took on WWF stars like Jerry Lawler and Road Dogg. Ah well, at least he didn't sing.
  8. the first step to fixing a problem is admitting there is one....? Hopefully, anyway.
  9. They're from wwftitlehistory.com. The site existed, then went down, causing speculation that there was going to be a shakeup with the title belts. then, scant weeks later, Brock became exclusive to Smackdown, and Triple H was given the World Heavyweight Title.

    The HBK Collapse on Raw

Kayfabe died in 1998. it just did. there;s nothing wrong with it, I guess. You could compare it to being stupd vs. being intelligent If you're stupid there are problems, but you don't care because you're ignorant of said problems. If you're intelligent, then that's valuable, but sometimes you wish you were stupid because there are just SO many problems. in some ways, being a mark was more fun. I never worried about the product, or the quality of it. I just wanted a fun maatch, people I could cheer for and get behind. I wanted to be entertained. The product has fallen so far from when it was at its peak, sometimes it pains me to watch it. I mean, a man who has never put on a *** match in his entire life, and has never drawn, is WWE champion. As far as thoughts on the time, nothing will ever touch Austin/Bret/The hart foundation. From October 96-mid 97, the Austin/Bret fued and heel Bret/the Hart Foundation is some of the best wrestling/storytelling I've ever seen. The only thing that ever came close for me was Austin/Rock at XVII. The only thing that I regret about that stretch of time is that Austin and Bret never had a proper blowoff, and that's almost as sad as Bret never getting to wrestle Angle. Of course, being a giant Bret hart mark, I'm biased.

The Canadian Connection/Two Man Power Trip match has to be on there. I haven't watched it in a while but the last time I did I had it at ****1/2

    True or False

I used to downplay the crowd factor a lot when I rated matches. Then came Rock/Hogan, and I jsut couldn't ignore it after that. That's much of the problem with rating matches. Loss brought it up in his article on the main site. the fact is that many people will jsut look for/attach star ratings to something without wanting/giving an explanation. Combine that with the fact that each person looks for different things in a match when they rate it, and the entire system looks like a mess because there are no true standards. One person can think a match is comparable to Falir/Steamboat while another can think it's nowhere near that level, because htey look for and are entertained by different things.

    True or False

When you heard "oh what a rush" hit the speakers, you KNEW the place was going to explode. I marked for Hogan, Warrior, etc. Of course I'm only 19 now. Conversely, I was also a huge Bret Hart fan when I was younger, because as my dad put it once "Look at that guy, he can actually do moves." I basically think the same thing that Rudo does. It depends on your defenition of greatness. By a fan reaction/over standpoint, yes, they're one of the greatest teams of all time. But from a wrestling standpoint? no
  14. Velocity: Bashams vs. FBI Charlie Haas vs. Mark Jindrak Kidman/London vs. Dudleys Smackdown: Booker T vs. RVD vs. Rene Dupree ( US title #1 contender match) Torrie vs. Sable Luthur Reigns vs. Charles Robinson Rey Mysterio vs. Mordecai JBL vs. Wrestler of his choosing(WWE Title) Edit: made the corrections below. Sorry about that, the wording of the spoilers made it sound like Reigns fought himself, I must have missed the mention of Robinson.
  15. good. Bearer could be "raised from the dead" by Mordecai kickstarting the Undertaker fued. then again, that would make it heel/heel. Unless the alliance with Bearer turns him face?

    Booker T...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he face rock for the big gold belt at some point, and wasn't the match(es?) near or at ***?

Moves which went out of fashion

I could swear for the life of me that someone used to use the Ab stretch as a finisher but I can't remember who.(late 80s-early 90s) Anyone help me out here?
  19. some people place Angle/Benoit at *****. The only thing that ruins Angle/Austin at SS 01 is the(if I remember correctly) DQ finish.
  20. Austin vs Rock-WM 17 (24-7) Bret vs Austin-WM 13 (24-7) Rey vs Eddie-Halloween Havoc '97 (19-12) Bret vs Austin survivor series 96 (24-7) Here's to an all-Bret final.

Dude, Nash wasn't on the card.
  22. Just wondering, for those of you that did see it, did Eddie/JBL go anywhere near ***?
