Destination X matches announced tonight at tapings
Magus replied to JoeDirt's topic in TNA Wrestling
I can usually count on Laz to say what I'm thinking, and he did. But here's one thing that nobody's mentioned yet: I thought the winner of the Abyss/Hardy match was to get a shot at the WORLD TITLE on Impact. I didn't see Abyss get his match in the spoilers, but even if he does, they're telling us with this lineup that there's NO WAY for him to win it. Jarrett is slated to face Page, and Abyss is continuing his fued with Hardy, with no mention of the title shot, or at least no mention that Abyss has any sort of chance to win the title. That's bullshit. -
Let's say that what Joey Styles is saying is true: that casual marks will tune in for Nash vs. JJJ, but stick around so they can watch guys like Monty and AJ. It won't work. Why? Because those fans will eventually want to see Monty and AJ on top instead of Nash and Jarrett (just like we do). And when TNA doesn't deliver on that, they'll turn away (like many of us are). It's the same song and dance from when WCW was around. Joey's statements are the same excuses they used for pushing the egos to the top and holding down the REAL TALENT.
-
Jarrett's always struck me as a closet case, but I guess that's another topic altogether. Anywho, if TNA decides to start doing business with RF, they'll not only show themselves as great hypocrites, but it could possibly piss off some of the talent that has serious problems with RF. I could see Styles quitting if RF was to start doing work for TNA.

This is a booking train wreck, but I'm at the point where that no longer shocks me. What I'm really wondering is what they expect to get out of the Vince/HHH segments. Has to be the stupidest shit they've pulled in a long time.
-
I'm not saying these shows are going to be great (since I haven't seen them), but I'm glad they're having more matches, and actually putting important ones in the main event. Hall/Styles and Jarrett/Brown are a welcome change from meaningless matches that make no difference in the fueds.
-
Hey, I'll watch again if Jeff and Dutch aren't booking anymore. Dusty wouldn't be my choice, but anything's better than Triple J. By the way, can anyone here give a real definition of "Dusty booking" for me? I never saw his run in WCW, so I don't know what kind of booker he is.
-
Its sad that they think that the ONLY way to be a pro wrestling company is to copy everything that WCW did. Is there no more room for ideas that are actually ORIGINAL???
-
I could watch a Page/Raven fued. And it seems like Sabin vs. Williams could be on for Turning Point.
-
Instead of a lame-ass six-man main event for "Turning Point", they should just do this: Let Hall and Savage have a short "legend" kind of match, then have Monty vs. Jarrett in the main event. It needs a World Title match if its going to be a so-called "event". Then JJ can lose to Monty and blame it on the Outsiders for not being there or something. Of course they'd never do that, though.
-
I'll replace Sabin on my list with Kash. He's a better choice to main event than Sabin is, and he can work with either big men or high-flyers
-
1) Raven: he's a good brawler and still a great interview, and I think his sluggishness lately is due to him realizing that he's been fucked over and misused yet again by a company that doesn't recognize his talent. Raven isn't much of a name, but he's got history, experience, and he'll put others over. 2) AJ Styles: when he's not being booked as Jeff Jarrett's bitch, he's actually pretty good. TNA has successfully pushed Styles to the moon while holding him back at the same time. Its already proven that if you just cut the kid loose and let him wrestle, he's gold. 3) Ron Killings: Truth had potential to be a franchise player before he was cut off. He's good in the ring and better on the mic, but he's been held down by James and Konnan. Return him to the truth-talking rebel and he's championship material all over again. 4) Abyss: if he had Jim Mitchell doing his talking, he'd be even better than he already is. As someone already mentioned, he plays the monster so well that he doesn't really even need the belt to be over. 5) Monty Brown: he's a decent brawler, but what makes him stand out is his natural charisma. The audience just can't help but be caught up in how intense he is. I'd just like it if he weren't so over the top with his gimmick. Instead of being "on the hunt for prey" and screaming at us about the Pounce, I'd have him tone it down to a more realistic character. 6) Christopher Daniels: TNA has basically killed all the heat xXx once had by running off Low Ki and the overall booking. Daniels desperately needs to be recognized as a top tier guy, so just let him loose with the Fallen Angel gimmick and he'll draw heat gauranteed. 7) Chris Sabin: Jerry Lynn will probably never get his due, so my last pick will be Sabin. Styles and Daniels need another main eventer who can work the high flying style, and Sabin is long overdue for some time in the spotlight. He's proven before he can get over, so I see no reason why he couldn't be a main eventer.

And I could see Jeff and Dutch finding a way to fuck it up.
-
Luger will show up for the Pit. Roddy'll talk shit on him (and I wouldn't doubt that he'd mention Liz), and they'll have a Luger/Piper fued over it. That is of course, if they don't completely embarass themselves in the process. Gosh, watching TNA make all these fuck-ups over and over is like watching car crashes.
-
Any doubt that TNA will be the next WCW (and thus be out of business before too long) should be erased at this point.
-
At this point, I'm all for both Hall and Nash coming in to shake up the politics. At least we'll have some REAL big names around instead of Jarrett trying to convince us that he's on that level.
-
1) NOTHING says bush league like mini luchas. And the worst part is that Jarrett seems obsessed with them. He brings them in for all of TNA's big shows, and honestly, it just makes the whole company look stupid. 2) Jarrett's a mark for himself, so I'm pretty confident that bringing in DDP, Nash, and Hall is just so he can play with the big boys for a while. He's tired of squashing no-namers, so he wants to book himself over big names now. The thing that gets me is that he announced on Impact that Hall and Nash would be at Victory Road, but not on the same side. Then, he goes on to basically specify that Hall will be "on my side", and Nash will be "on the other side". Its just completely foolish to outright tell the fans who the good guy is and who the bad guy is. Southern booking for ya.

I think the UT vs. Hardy match being watchable has more to do with a veteran like Taker in there doing his thing than any spectacular bumping by Hardy. It was a carry-job. In pro wrestling, getting the shit kicked out of you can be an art form, but that doesn't mean Jeff Hardy is good at it. As for Victory Road, it takes a lot of faith to believe Hardy vs. Jarrett will be anything worth watching. Both are terrible-to-average workers and the booking of the match will cripple it even if the workrate doesn't. Williams vs. Styles is a GOOD MATCH, and I'll admit when TNA puts two good workers in the ring. But as I've said, the booking will step in and show itself no matter how great the workrate is in this match. TNA doesn't respect the X Division title or any X Division worker not named AJ Styles. And when has TNA ever had a good Gauntlet match (except for that one that Raven won)? They never announce all the participants, there are always lame surprises, and its never as good as it could/should be because TNA holds back the X Division workers. So yes, TNA sucks, even if you don't think so.
-
TNA's always tried to control the audience instead of listening to them. One of their major flaws IMO.
-
That all sounds well and good, but TNA has proven enough times in the past that they can't and won't book a fued like that. Your theory has two problems: first, there's no way Hardy is going to win. If he's been built up for 6 months like you say, its all to lose to Jarrett. There is NO FUCKING CHANCE that Jarrett would drop the title to Hardy. The second problem is this: IF Jarrett DID lose to Hardy (and we're not even going to hope for a clean finish here), its JEFF FUCKING HARDY as the WORLD CHAMPION. If TNA thinks that this kid can carry the company as the champion, they are shitting themselves. Adding the Outsiders to the mix in any form or fashion just takes away attention from the real contenders. I'd like to see Monty win the title, but right now, his main opponents for the title would be either Jarrett or Hardy, and we all know how much they suck. Maybe they won't just job out Raven and Abyss, as they seem to be the only redeeming factors in the main event.
-
Utter shite. Why they are going ahead with Hardy/Jarrett again is beyond comprehension. Its proven to be a terrible match, so why have it headline TNA's biggest show ever? And it being a ladder match doesn't give it any hope, either. All of Hardy's TLC and/or ladder matches from WWE were in tag format and with a lot of other workers making the match. It certainly wasn't for him. And there's no way that JJ will job at Victory Road. And even if this was the one time where he DID let someone get the belt (although not by a clear or decisive win), Jeff Hardy is the one guy not to give it to. Hardy as champ would make TNA look even less credible than they do now with JJ on top. The other three guys look like they were just thrown in there without rhyme or reason. Its getting downright terrible.
-
You should still start it, might be cool to see your booking as opposed to mine. I'll do it if somebody'll read it. Although I think, just to avoid confusion, that I'll call it GPW.
-
Since the board's so dull lately, I'll rain on the parade just to cause some discussion. WWE's contract with Spike TV runs out soon, and they've been looking at USA, TNT, and FX (owned by FOX, which airs TNA's only show) to move to. If FOX and Vince came to a deal, TNA would lose their spot on FSN (similar to when ECW was dumped by TNN to sign with WWF). Just some bad news to go with the good.
-
I've been developing my own, and you took some of my guys Mine's Georgia Championship Wrestling, even though I know there already is/was a GCW. But I wanted a Southern feel to go along with the ECW/ROH vibe it'd have.
-
I doubt Jarrett will lose the belt to Monty, and TNA isn't smart enough to have Monty lose and keep his heat at the same time. With the bigger names coming in, Jarrett will probably want to start having fueds with them anyways. Its downright stupid, but that is what will happen.
-
I will agree that I'm glad there were no squash matches. Three important or just plain good matches works better than five meaningless squashes. I'd rather Monty go over Jarrett at Victory Road. Monty at least has charisma and he gets cheers. He's not who I'd pick, but he's better than Hardy or Jarrett at this point. Or maybe this is all just so Jarrett can bury YET ANOTHER wrestler on his roster. It'll probably happen this way, actually. At least when the Outsiders show up and start politicking, we'll get to see some semi-interesting stuff.
