    Maybe Cleeland can explain this

Ah, right. Campaign stunts never happened before Moore.

President Bush, the worst president in history?

*Yawn* Right wing chain letters are boring. I mean, Clinton? I swear, in 2048, the Republicans (or conservative Christians for Real Americans, whatever the party is called then) will still somehow be blaming Clinton for everything. On a side note, we're up to around 950 and we didn't ya' know, occupy Waco for years afterward.

    GOP hates New York

I'm sorry they didn't put them in cages or a designated area, Mike. Then again, if this was 1968, you'd probably be saying the March on Washington was a dangerous idea. I mean, letting people speak freely without being vetted by the powers that be. That's UnRepublican! So it's no biggie.

    Classy

Actually, it was Clinton and the Republican Congress to be exact. And jusging by his donations, Lay thought Bush would keep the gravy train rolling more than Gore. Also, after Enron went kablooey, Calvin collidge could've been in office and he would've still been indicted. So, don't try that, "look Bush is going to charge him now!" If I had any money, I'd bet you Martha Stewart got a worse sentence than Lay will end up with.

    GOP hates New York

So you're OK with New Yorkers being called money-grubbing. That's cool. Everybody is allowed to have an opinion.

    GOP hates New York

WHITE HOUSE ATTACKS NYC AS 'MONEY GRUBBING': New Yorkers "treat [post-9/11 reconstruction funding] as a little money-grubbing game." - White House Budget Director Mitch Daniels, 2/4/02 Given the source of this story --- without a link, I say he's full of shit. Here ya go. Unless you think CBS is part of the socialist plot to ruin America too.

Which shows how pissed New Yorker's are, even the tabloid rag that is the Post has to report it.

    MoveOn's New Ads

Here's the thing Mike. MoveOn PAC is, as the name suggests, is a...wait, here it comes... a PAC! Otherwise known as a... POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE. As all smart well-informed people out here in America, we understand that PACs have nothing to do with the "shadowy 527s" we keep hearing about. PACs have very strict donation limits and timely financial disclosure requirements. Individuals can't give more than 5 grand in a calendar year to it, and there are overall PAC contribution limits as well. Also, I've never seen a MoveOn ad played the 8,567.456 times on CNN,MSNBC, and FOX like I saw the Swift Boat Ads. But I know, all the networks expect FOX all want Bush to crash and burn because they're all evil liberals.

Nah, Ralph Reed and Ed Gillespie on CNN right after peoples speeches were an obvious hallucination on your part. :-)

And you're a super genius, non biased at all. We know, Mike. It's so hard to be in presence of such greatness.

    NL MVP: Who is it?

A poster on another board said it best. Beltre and Pujols are having A+ Mike Schmidt seasons. Bonds is having an A+ Ruthian season. I seriously think in fifty years, people are going to look at Bonds not winning more MVP's like they look at Ruth's lack of hardware.

Connections between Bush and Swift Vets

Mike, there's nothing that say Secretary of Navy under Heyland's signature. It says Admiral, US Navy and Commander in Chief of US Pacific Fleet. Admittally, I know nothing about chain of command, but on the second page, the signature of secretaryo f navy looks a lot different than the first one.
  13. First, from the Tribune From Rood I think a blooger on Eschaton said it best... Shame on the media for giving these people a platform. Shame on the media for allowing dishonest men to dishonor honest men who served honorably. Shame on you for pretending this was a "he said/he said" situation, ignoring official Navy records and the testimony of everyone who was actually in a position to know. Most of all, shame on all the chickenbloggers who, 30 years from now, will do the same thing to some Iraq war veteran who went home and wondered out loud who will be the last American soldier to die for a lie.

Bush condemns 527s, asks Kerry to do the same

Mike, do you really think Bush, Rove, or Hughes are really all that mad about the Swift Vet Ads. Really? Edit: Argh, stupid computer. Anyway. I mean, I agree it was a good political move. But, I somehow think as long as the Swift Vets are getting as much free playing of the ad as they're getting, the Bush campaign doesn't really mind all that much. I mean, how many MoveOn ads have been played nightly on the cablerantfests for a week straight? Plus, I always though Bush was for less restrictions on "free speech", not more. :-)

Bush condemns 527s, asks Kerry to do the same

Actually, I'd think the same way if Kerry had condemnd all 527's. What both sides want to happen is for their side to keep running and for the other side to give up. Yes, I'm a partisan Democratic hack (tm MikeSC), but I realize it's all politics. I know I'm not going to convince you, Mike or kkk to vote for Kerry.

Connections between Bush and Swift Vets

Hmm....if he's distancing himself, someone forgot to tell his campaign staff... This is especially true given (let me add some more examples) that the campaign finance law the president signed just a few years ago deliberately avoided closing the 527 loophole; that Bush beat Sen. John McCain (R-Ari.) during the 2000 primary in part with the help of a 527 run by his supporter Sam Wylie; that Bush's own campaign manager, campaign counsel, and political guru (Ken Melhman, Ben Ginsburg, and Karl Rove, respectively) have attended fundraising and organizational events for Progress for America, a 527 founded by Bush's political director from the 2000 campaign, Tony Feather; that GOP chairman Ed Gillespie and Bush campaign chairman Mark Racicot recently issued a statement designating PFA and yet another GOP 527, the Leadership Forum, as a good place for Republicans to give money to; and that second biggest 527 in the U.S. is the Republican Governors Association, a group spun off by the Republican National Committee two years ago specifically to collect and harness soft money for state and local GOP candidates. Stolen from here

Yeah, it was a good political move. Completly dishonest, but that's expected.

Bush condemns 527s, asks Kerry to do the same

http://www.prospect.org/weblog/archives/20...dex.html#003629 TEAR DOWN THIS RECOUNT FUND! While we're on the subject of glaring exceptions to George W. Bush's blanket condemnation of 527s, where is his disavowal of the shadowy Bush-Cheney 2000, Inc.–Recount Fund? Says here that this insidious organization is still kicking around and filing (mostly blank) reports of contributions and expenditures. If Mr. President is going to "call on Senator Kerry again today to join us in calling for a stop to all of these activities," why isn't he taking the first step himself? --Jeffrey Dubner Posted by jdubner at 06:26 PM MORE ON THOSE 527s. My colleague Matthew Yglesias rightly notes that President Bush's denunciation of 527s is hypocritical and self-contradictory. This is especially true given (let me add some more examples) that the campaign finance law the president signed just a few years ago deliberately avoided closing the 527 loophole; that Bush beat Sen. John McCain (R-Ari.) during the 2000 primary in part with the help of a 527 run by his supporter Sam Wylie; that Bush's own campaign manager, campaign counsel, and political guru (Ken Melhman, Ben Ginsburg, and Karl Rove, respectively) have attended fundraising and organizational events for Progress for America, a 527 founded by Bush's political director from the 2000 campaign, Tony Feather; that GOP chairman Ed Gillespie and Bush campaign chairman Mark Racicot recently issued a statement designating PFA and yet another GOP 527, the Leadership Forum, as a good place for Republicans to give money to; and that the second-biggest 527 in the U.S. is the Republican Governors Association, a group spun off by the Republican National Committee two years ago specifically to collect and harness soft money for state and local GOP candidates. If President Bush is opposed to 527s, somebody better tell his senior campaign staff, and quick. --Nick Confessore Posted by tapped at 06:17 PM DAMN THOSE 527s. Atrios keeps asking a good question -- what is the president trying to say about 527s? On one level, of course, we all know that this is a pure dodge, adopted for expediency's sake, that has nothing to do with any real substantive beliefs. On the other hand, he does keep saying he wants to get rid of these "shadowy groups," and there was a time not so long ago when campaign finance was a hotly debated issue. So the question needs to be asked: If the president hates 527s so much, how did he and his wife wind up on the cover of Republican Woman magazine, a publication of the National Federation of Republican Women, which you'll find right here on OpenSecrets' list of 527 groups. Or how does he feel about the NFRW's upcoming tribute to Laura Bush at the Republican convention. Even more interesting -- why did the RNC donate $10,000 to GOPAC, yet another insidious 527 group? --Matthew Yglesias Posted by jdubner at 05:21 PM

    On a side note...

Actually, moderate Republicans always had a chance in statewide offices due to the fact Illinois is more conservative the farther south and outside of Chicago you go, and yeah, the fact a scumbag like Mosley Braun got elected Senator help matters. I mean, here's the list of Governor's... Richard Buell Ogilvie Republican 1969-1973 Daniel Walker Democratic 1973-1977 James R. Thompson Republican 1977-1991 James Edgar Republican 1991-1999 George H. Ryan Republican 1999-2003 Rod R. Blagojevich Democratic 2003-present Not exactly Democratic dominant?

Just use [email protected] for the e-mail and dailykos for the pw. Well, nobody thought Keyes would give him any problems, but before the implosion of Ryan, the GOP thought they could win or keep it close. I just find it funny that a party that was in control of the major executive offices just a few years ago has imploded utterly.

    On a side note...

Here's the link, forgot those don't cut and paste... The Poll And plus, it's funny. When was the last smackdown like this in a race that was once thought to be compeittive? I mean, I'm sure that McCain or Teddy Kennedy have gotten upwards of 90% against sacrificial lambs, but at one point, the GOP thought this could be a pickup for them. Just goes to show you, if you want to be a Senator, don't go to kinky sex clubs with your wife unless you're sure that she won't mind.

Other than the insanity of a team trading it's #1 pick in his rookie year, which ranks down with Spike being a legitiimate threat to Flesher in it's unbelievability, I'm cool with my trade.
