Yes, because a propoganda film that was likely one of the few movies Germans were allowed to see = a film on 800 screens (average screen count of a major motion picture is 2000, by the way) that right wing groups all but tried to destroy before it was released. Whether you agree with him or not, equating Moore to Nazi propoganda is just stupid. In one case, you got the RULING party paying, filming, and releasing a film to an audience under their subjugation and in the other case, you've got a man making a film ABOUT the RULING party he opposes. No, I'm not equating Bush with Hitler. Maybe you right wingers should send a few guys to film school instead of having them all work for lobbying firms and GOP think tanks. Diversify. :-)

Well, basically, as far as I can see, The Terminal will be the only non-family, non-explodey movie people will actually see, so it should have good legs. I mean, Road to Peridition only opened up with 22 million and still ended up over 100 in the summer.

Well, like Jobber said, I'd go by the official count of the US, but oh wait... "We don't do body counts." - Tommy Franks ...so yes, I had to go to iraqbodycount.com, which I'm sure you'll say is obviously a propaganda page for the left. And even if it is lower, 7,000 to 9,000 is that supposed to be better? I mean, if it is only 7500, I'm sure the Iraqis would be showering us with flowers and chocolate instead of having 95% seeing us as occupiers.

Well, with The LAdykillers, that wasn't supposed to be a hit. It was a "cred" movie for Hanks, like any Coen Brothers movie is. If you think bad reviews will hurt a movie like Dodgeball, it isn't likely. After all, bad reviews didn't exactly kill Old School, right? As far as HP, it was a mistake to go in the summer when there's a new 'blockbuster' every week it seems.

Umm....it was a joke. Most people would've got that, I hope. I obviously don't think that all jobs will be shipped overseas. By the way, have any of you that are so against a minimum wage hike ever had to live on the minimum wage? Just a thought.

Well ya' know if a whole nation that you invaded and killed 10,000 citizens of disagrees with you, it's not that maybe you've took the wrong approach, it's that they're primitives. Of course, why didn't I think of that.

It's been proven several times that raising the minimum wage does NOT drive prices inexorably higher. The mechanism is simple: people who work the minimum wage generally spend ALL of their paychecks just to get by. When you give them a $2/hour raise, they don't suddenly become frugal and suddenly start saving... they suddenly get a bit of a breather and generally spend that $2 as well. What businesses lose by having to pay their employees a little more, they make up by having higher volume in sales as other minimum wage slaves spend more money in their stores. The Federal Minimum Wage is $5.15/hour. It hasn't been raised since 1997. Since 1997, the real-dollar purchasing power of the Minimum Wage has fallen some 14% (i.e. the REAL inflation-adjusted minimum wage is $4.29/hour). That's just ridiculous. In this gaping void of responsibility, some 13 states have stepped in to raise their own MinWage above that ridiculous amount because the impact of MinWage induced poverty was destroying their own state budgets. When a quarter of the states are using a higher rate than the feds are willing to dole out, you know you're in trouble and that leadership is needed. I'm glad to see that Kerry has stepped forward... it's the first really bold stance on an issue that I've seen him take and it's certainly the first DEMOCRATIC stance on an issue I've seen him take which separates him from the Other Guy. Considering that Minimum Wage jobs are the only ones which seem like they're going to be available to Americans (since everything else which pays better is being outsourced to China & India), maybe we had ALL better get on board with a Minimum Wage increase. And just so MikeSC and such can't say SOURCES~ on those numbers: http://www.jsc.nasa.gov/bu2/inflateCPI.html http://www.epinet.org/content.cfm/issuebriefs_ib195 http://www.dol.gov/esa/minwage/america.htm

Y'know, I''ve tried to be a lurker and let this all go, but.... http://truthout.org/imgs.art_01/3.abu.ghraib_02_061204.jpg http://truthout.org/imgs.art_01/3.abu.ghraib_03_061204.jpg This isn't torture? Especially when a Red Cross report says about 70% of the people in the prison were f'ing innocent of any crime? The way you know these pics are real is that they include that same woman who was leering over the dead Iraqi guy packed with ice from the LAST round of pictures which was released. The Pentagon and the Senate have admitted to having over 2000 such photos in their possesion... pictures of Iraqi guys shielding their penises from dog bites, guys pissing and shitting themselves as they're cowering from dogs who are trying to bite them, photos of guys being anally raped with maglight flashlights... we have only seen the briefest beginnings of all of this. And yeah, it fucking sucks a guy got killed over this but guess what, do you know why we shouldn't turn Arabia into glass? Because we're supposed to be better than that. We're supposed to be fucking America. No wonder why 90% of Iraqi' see us as occupiers going by the latest poll.
