Southern Tag Team Title Match CM Punk & Seth Skyfire vs. Deuce & Domino © http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YPR9T6NN The seeds are being planted for Punk vs. Skyfire. While I don't think Seth Skyfire is the guy to carry the belt for OVW, their blow-off match should be pretty good. Punk looks like he is going to be the one to turn, though they could keep them both as faces that hate each other. I think that would be a better set-up to their feud.

Here is the video I got from Six Flags. It didn't turn out too bad considering the bad lighting and the necessary stops due to security eyeballing me. I've added the build up fir the Originals vs. Spirit Squad match and a promo video I quickly threw together for Snow/Dean. Al Snow vs. Simon Dean promo video http://www.megaupload.com/?d=H10LCFFT Al Snow vs. Simon Dean - Cage Match http://www.megaupload.com/?d=I3TGQV64 OVW Originals vs. Spirit Squad Build Up http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0TB9JFK1 The OVW Originals vs. Spirit Squad http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4D6XNV70 Cody Runnels & Dusty Rhodes vs. Idol Stevens and KC James - clipped to entrances and last few minutes of the match http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RJWGECEF

I just got back from the OVW Six Flags Summer Sizzler Series Finale at Kentucky Kingdom. This was my first OVW live show and I had a pretty good time. I did get some video, but I'll discuss that later. As for the show... "Dark" Match This was a dark match, if there can be such a thing at a live show. I call it a dark match because Dean Hill was not out there yet and the OVW theme song played after the match. Battle Royal - Winner gets a shot at OVW Heavyweight Champion CM Punk this Wednesday at the Davis Arena. I have no idea how many guys were in this match. From what I remember, Seth Skyfire, Shad Gaspard, The Neighborhoodie, Deuce, Domino, Mike Kruel, Rod Steel, Eddie Craven, Jack Bull, John Bolen, Shawn Osborne, Lexxox Lightfoot, Pat Buck, Elijah Burke and Johnny Punch. There a few more guys I can't remember (and had never seen before. For example, a guy in a park ranger uniform). Bull was staggering around the ring drunk for the duration of the match. He finally climbed in with about 10 guys left. The match boils down to Elijah Burke, Deuce and Jack Bull. Deuce goes to throw Burke out, but Burke catches him with a leg scissors, pulling both of them to the apron. Jack Bull staggers over and knocks them both out, earning a shot at CM Punk this Wednesday. WINNER: Jack Bull It was your basic battle royal. Nothing too special here, other than Jack Bull doing his thing, which I am a fan of. I did get a good look at Sosay and she is smoking. I don't think she can bump, but she would be a welcome addition to the WWE. --The OVW theme song hits and Dean Hill comes out to the timekeepers table. Match One Shawn Spears & Serena vs. Charles "The Hammer" Evans & ODB This match stems from this past Saturday's OVW TV show. Serena has been calling out ODB because she is parading around with a OVW Women's Title she supposedly won in Rio (wink, wink). Evans became ODB's backup and there was a confrontation between the four last Saturday night, setting up this match. The match was bad. ODB runs from Serena, Evans tags in and fights Spears. ODB comes back in, only to run away from Serena. Repeat that about two more times and you'll have a good idea about what happened in this match. Spears and Serena get stereo 10 punches inthe corner on Evans and ODB. Spears hits Evans with a clothesline and Serena spears ODB, allowing both to make the pin. Bad match. That's all I can say. WINNER: Shawn Spears & Serena Match Two Chet The Jet vs. Boris Alexiev (w/ Mr. Stongko) This was a pretty decent, albeit short, contest. Alexiev worked the arm to set up for his modified armbar submission. At one point, Alexiev started working the wrong arm, but made up for it by locking in the Rings of Saturn. At least he had enough sense to use a move that attacked both arms. Alexiev went for the armbar, but got rolled up by Chet for the pin. Alexiev attacks Chet post match and locks in the armbar. It takes four referees to pull Alexiev off of Chet. Not a bad little match. Both put in a good deal of effort and it showed. Alexiev continues to look completely badass and while I'm no Chet fan, he looked pretty good, too. WINNER: Chet The Jet Match Three The OVW Originals ("Ironman" Rob Conway, Doug & Danny Basham, Eugene and "Nightmare" Danny Davis) vs. The Spirit Squad (Johnny, Mikey, Mitch) and Deuce & Domino The three Spirit Squad members came out and looked to the back, which brought out Deuce and Domino. No mention was made of where the other two SS members were. This match was for longtime OVW fans. Lots of fun spots with the crowd popping big for Eugene (which is baffling). Both Johnny and Mikey came out with the "Nightmare" star painted on each of their eyes like Danny Davis use to wear. The match breaks down (as expected) with members of each team brawling all over the ringside area. Two members of the Spirit Squad (Johnny and Mitch, I think) are left in the ring with Danny Davis. One mistimed punch later, Johnny is sent to the outside and Davis drops Mitch with a nice looking neckbreaker for the pin. Davis hugs the OVW Originals after the match and they all drop to a knee to show their respect for the OVW owner. WINNERS: The OVW Originals Match Four Brent Albright vs. Randy Orton Albright earned the right to face Orton by winning a gauntelt match last week on OVW TV. Crowd pops huge for Orton. The two have a pose off to see who can get the most cheers. Despite the fact that Orton is the obvious heel, he gets the loudest pop. Albright goes for the Crowbar early, but can't get it locked on. Match goes to the outside where Albright slams Orton's head into a garbage can repeadly. The thrd time, it sends Orton over the railing. Security runs to the scene to keep the fans from getting too close. Back in the ring Orton takes control. He goes for the RKO, but gets pushed off. Albright hits the ropes and goes for a move, only to be caught by the RKO. Orton gets the win. This match was proof that Albright does not need to be in OVW anymore. He's not going to get any better. It was a nice back and forth match and while the winner was obvious, there were enough close calls to make you think Alrbight might pick up the win. WINNER: Randy Orton Match Five Cody Runnels & Dusty Rhodes vs. Aaron "The Idol" Stevens & KC James Idol and James have been tormenting Runnels for weeks. Rhodes appeared on OVW TV last Saturday saying that he will team with his son (who, until that point, was never referenced as Dusty's son. It was alluded to, though, like the Jerry Lawler/Brian Christopher thing) at Six Flags. Match starts with Dusty showing how powerful the Bionic Elbow is. Both James and Idol take a breather after getting their arms nailed by Big Dust. Old school tag match with Cody quickly becoming the face in peril. Cody finally makes the tag and Dusty goes to town, dropping the Bionic Elbow on everything that moves. Cody comes back in the ring and we get stereo flip, flop and flies. Idol falls to the outside. James walks into one more Bionic Elbow and gets rolled up by Cody. Post match, Cody gets the mic to thank his dad for wrestling with him. He says it is probably the last time he and his dad will ever team together. "A long time ago, I told my dad that my favorite wrestler was Shawn Michaels. That was the biggest lie I ever told. As great of a wrestler that he his, my favorite wrestler is my dad. He's my hero. I know you never raised me to be a wrestler, but I swear to God I won't fail." Dusty and Cody hug in the middle of the ring. A nice moment between the father and son. WINNERS: Dusty Rhodes and Cody Runnels Match Six Cage Match Al Snow vs. Simon Dean This feud has been building up all summer. It started when Snow tried to stop Dean from attacking Shawn Spears back in June. They have feuded all summer and the only way to resolve it was to have the first cage match in OVW history. Snow enters the cage first while Dean paces outside. Dean gets on the mic and says he doesn't have to get in the cage if he doesn't want to. Snow comes out and chases him around the cage. Dean runs in the cage and holds the door shut, keeping Snow on the outside. Snow tries to climb up the cage, but Dean kicks it at every attempt. Finally, Snow picks up a chair and smashes the fingers of Dean as he is holding the door shut. The finally lock up and Snow hammers away on Dean. They try throwing eachother into the cage, but every attempt gets blocked. Dean finally reverses an Irish Whip and slings Snow into the cage wall. Dean proceeds to go to work on Snow, beating him all over the ring. Snow fgets the upper hand by nailing an enzuguri. Dean retakes the advantage and tries to climb out of the cage, but gets stopped. The top of the cage also bends in a little. Snow knocks him off and becomes a house of fire. Dean is in a bad way. Snow goes for the door and almost exits before looking back at Dean and deciding to beat him up some more. Snow goes for a clothesline, but Dean ducks, causing Snow to knock out the referee. Snow proceeds to whip Dean into each side of the cage. Dean hits a backflip, sending Snow back-first into the cage. Dean goes to climb out again, but gets stopped. They both battle for position atop the cage, with Snow gaining the upper hand. Snow hooks him in a front facelock and SUPERPLEXES SIMON DEAN FROM THE TOP OF THE CAGE! The crowd comes to their feet, but both wrestlers are down. They stay down for a solid minute before Al Snow begins to make his way to the door. Dean, a little slower to get up, makes it to the door to stop Snow from escaping by grabbing the door from the inside and slamming it in Snow's face. Dean gets a second wind, but it gets cut short by a low blow. Snow sets Dean up for the Snowplow and nails it. The referee comes to and counts the three! An awesome match between these two and a great blow-off to a hot feud. There were so many great spots that kept the crowd entertain for the duration of this nearly 30 minute match. Awesome stuff from these guys. WINNER: Al Snow The four featured matches were well worth the $20 I paid to get in the park. As far as the video goes, it is going to be very clipped. Security came up to me during the match with the Originals and asked if I was taping. Obviously I said no, but they watched me like a hawk the rest of the night. I had to start and stop a lot so that it looked like I was only taking pictures. There is going to be a lot of clipping when I get the files posted. I'm not sure about the quality yet. It looks pretty good on the camera screen, but who knows what it will look like once I get it on a computer. There was not enough lighting, either, so the video gets darker as the night progresses. I'll be posting the Originals vs. SS match (it barely got clipped). I've got Dusty & Cody's entrance and the last 5 or so minutes of it. I'll also be posting the cage match, which is clipped to hell, but mostly in tact. I'll try to get those up sometime tomorrow.

The OAO Smackdown Thread for whatever today is.
Alro replied to Open the Muggy Gate's topic in The WWE Folder
Check the DSW thread in Other Promotions. I've uploaded a couple of tag matches he's been in. Placebo Effect put some of the up on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=conley48 -
I'll be using a digital camera. I don't think I'll have any problems, but I've been to concerts where security was watching for people using cameras to record. I've never been to a live OVW show, so I don't know what to expect.
-
I'm a mark for Jack Bull. He's only been on TV once, but his segment was so ridiculous and over the top I couln't not like him. Right now I'm indifferent about Jacob Duncan. He hasn't done anything to interest me yet. I can't see Skyfire as OVW Champion for all the same reasons. He is too small. But like I said earlier,. I can't see Albright as champion right now, either. He's been back in OVW a month or so and hasn't so much as looked in the direction of CM Punk and the title. I'm sure booking has all been laid out for the title picture, but it wouldn't be too hard to throw Albright into the mix. He's still over with the Davis Arena crowd, but he hasn't been booked at a main event level and the way he has been booked has hurt him in my eyes. Evans has just been built up as such that he could be a credible champion. One guy I forgot about til just now is Shad Gaspard. He isn't a great worker or anything, but I can see him as champion. Put The Neighborhoodie in a lackey role and I think they might have something. As it stands right now, I plan to go to SFKK for the Summer Sizzler finale. I probably don't have enough memory to get the whole show, but I should be able to get the main matches. The Snow/Nova feud has really pulled me in and that will be one of the matches that definately gets recorded. As a note, this will be the first time I've recorded with this camera and I'll obviously be trying to keep low key since I'm sure recording isn't allowed, so don't expect any great camera work.

Was there an Extreme Rules match tonight?

I was about to say that. There is no reason for Knox to hold on to the ropes. Stupid.

There was some interest in seeing some DSW posted here, so here we go. Like I said in the OVW thread, I don't know how much longer I'm going to keep capping DSW, but I'll post everything I do cap here. This show is sometimes hard to follow. CSS is months behind on DSW tapings. We're just now at the end of April. Sometimes the shows are spliced together, too. You'll get matches from multiple tapings, so commentators change and references to current storylines change. The only storylines I can seem to follow are DSW announcer Bill DeMott is feuding with The Gymini and Palmer Cannon has "The Network", consisting of himself, The Great Khali, Matt Striker, Krissy Vaine (I think) and up until two weeks ago the Freakin' Deacon, and he is trying to piss everyone off. References to the tag team tournament are sometimes made, but I've seen no brackets or anything like that. Derrick Neikirk is the DSW Champion (at this point in the tapings). He is also part of Team Elite with Mike Knox. The other top tag teams are High Impact and The Gymini. I've not seen the DSW Title defended yet, so I don't know who they consider to be their top singles stars. Matches from DSW on CSS from July 23, 2006 Bill DeMott & Freakin' Deacon vs. The Gymini http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2IX710PW High Impact (Tony Santorelli & Mike Taylor) vs. Eric Perez & Montel Vontavious Porter http://www.megaupload.com/?d=R2ACHY30 Mark Jindrak vs. Mike Knox http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y6DSDSD8 Ray Geezy (Ray Gordy) vs. Danny Gimondo (Danny Inferno in OVW) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PQGE12UJ Francisco Ciatso vs. Onyx http://www.megaupload.com/?d=39FNY3W9

Yes. He signed a developmental deal with WWE in December, I think.

I barely watched any of this. Standard DSW crap. I think I've got one more match to cap for this week's show. Gymini Jake & Lex Lovett vs. Eric Perez & MVP (joined in progress) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9WH2FWZP High Impact vs. Cocky Siaki & Bradley Jay http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B4SMSC0S Tommy Suede vs. Cru Jones http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K309G4H3

While OVW as a whole was better than it has been for the past few weeks, I'm not posting the whole show. I don't have the time to cap the whole thing. So you're getting two matches. 10 Man Gauntlet Match Brent Albright, T.J. Dalton, Vic Devine, John Bolen, Shawn Osbourne, Shawn Spears, Boris Alexiev, Mike Kruel, Eddie Cravens, and Charles Evans http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LX1DUISM OVW Southern Tag Team Title Match CM Punk & Seth Skyfire © vs. Deuce & Domino http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YQ00D64F The gauntlet match was very rushed. Some of the guys Albright beat I can believe he beat in such a short time. Alexiev's DQ was weak. I can't recall the last time somebody was disqualified because a manager pushed an opponent's feet off the ropes while the opponent was being pinned. I know they need to keep Alexiev looking strong, but that was so cheap. Evans should have won. He was fresh and he has been built up as a monster. I'm sure Albright will have a much better match with Orton at SFKK, but there was no reason for Evans to lose that match. The only saving grace was that he powered out of the crowbar. Punk/Skyfire vs. Deuce & Domino was a good tag match. I wish they would have mentioned something about Punk & Skyfire beating Gaspard & Neighborhoodie last week at SFKK for the titles, but we got nothing. If you don't follow results online or go to the Six Flags shows, you wouldn't have known what happened. It was a good tag match, though. With Punk looking to soon be full-time ECW, it looks like the seeds were planted for the Punk/Skyfire blow-off. I'm not wild about Skyfire being OVW champion, but other than Brent Albright, he's the only one built up enough the be believed as champion. Albright doesn't need another run with the title. Plus he's been regualted to midcard stuff since he was sent back down. The only other option I see is to let Charles Evans squash Punk. Evans is a hoss, but he's been built up well enough to look like an unstoppable monster so that when he does get beat, the guy who beats him will come out looking great.
-
Mike Knox is the only one that has made it onto TV. I'm pretty sure I've read that Derrick Neikirk and Roughhouse O'Reilly are teaming at house shows. Not all of the call ups in ECW are coming from DSW. Punk, Roadkill, Thorn (though I've not seen him in a long time) and Snow have all come from OVW. Obviously OVW is sending up the better wrestlers.
-
Swinger was released about a month ago. They did a Loser Leaves DSW match with him the day he was released.

DSW on CSS Part 1 (78.5 mb) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GWG7QNPI Tommy Suede vs. Eric Perez Tony Santorelli vs. Cru Jones Roughhouse O'Reilly vs. Bradley Jay DSW on CSS Part 2 (64.7 mb) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=L2KOE0VC Mike Taylor vs. Lawrence Tyler Heath Miller & Kenny Omega vs. Team Elite (Derrick Neikirk & Mike Knox) Bill DeMott & Freakin' Deacon vs. The Gymini Another shitty show from DSW this week. The thing that gets me the most about DSW is how little production values go into the show. OVW isn't anywhere near as slick as RAW or Smackdown, but it looks better than your average indy with a local TV show. The biggest flub this week was the interview with Tony Santorelli. He said that his partner Mike Taylor was out this week and during the last half hour who should have a singles match? His parter, Mike Taylor. Granted Taylor's match was taped two months after the rest of the show, but you should have enough sense to know what is going on during the show if you are piecing things together. As far was the DSW guys in ECW, they are not that bad. They should have kept Knox and Neikirk together. There was no sense in messing with a decent team. O'Reilly could do what Knox is doing in ECW and things would have been fine. By and large, though, DSW is terrible and I don't know why they opened it.

Boos for both and a "You both suck" chant to start the match. Fantastic crowd tonight.

OVW TV for July 29, 2006 Matches: Part One (74.9 mb) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TMXW8CR6 Chad Hurts (Toland, I believe) vs. Boris Alexiev Serena vs. Melody Cody Runnels vs. Kasey James - 10 Minute Challenge Part Two (61.95 mb) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=603XVJC4 Brent Albright vs. John Bolen Chet the Jet vs. Mr. Strongko Deuce & Domino vs. Elijah Burke & Shawn Spears (the audio drops for about a minute in this match) If you thought last week's show was weak, wait til you see this one. Outside of the Al Snow promo (which is in part 2, I think), there was nothing worthwhile on this show. Things were set up for the final Six Flags show of the summer, but the rest was just filler. And if you didn't know Randy Orton was coming to Six Flags on August 11, then you will definately know it by the end of the show because they aired about 6 promos for it. All that being said, I'm considering going to the Six Flags show and using my digital camera to tape a few of the matches. I've got a discount ticket, so I won't be paing $40 for OVW. It will likely be a gametime decision, but this card has me more interested than any of the others. Apparently, this past Friday night at Six Flags, CM Punk and Seth Skyfire won the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles from Shad Gaspard and The Neighborhoodie. OVWrestling.com has not mentioned it, but I have heard that they will defend against Deuce & Domino next week.
-
I start my last year of grad school at the University of Louisville in three weeks. I'll be a newly minted MBA, which they tell us (halfway through the program) is only really useful in finding a new job for the first six months that you have it. I'm glad I don't plan on changing careers.
-
DSW is far inferior to OVW. They both seem to have the same amount of guys that could get called up any time, but the booking and production values in DSW are shit. I know that The Neighborhoodie in OVW will probably never get called up, but he's been booked decently and I kinda care about him. Most of the DSW guys just show up for a match and there is no real character or storyline development for anyone except for The Gymini/Bill DeMott stuff and the Palmer Cannon stuff. Like I said, I don't know how much longer I'll keep capping it. That being said, from here on out I plan to post the full show in two parts and extract the TV main event for people only wanting to see that. I'll probably be doing the same for OVW unless there is a solid undercard match that warrants being seperated from the full show. Breaking the shows dowin into individual matches takes a shitload of time.
-
Mike Knox's voice doesn't match his appearance.
-
Aaron Stevens should already be on the main roster. Like Brent Albright, he's not going to get any better in OVW. I have a hard time seeing Casey James on national television because he comes across as a local indy guy. Somebody called him a poor man's Tommy Rich and I would agree with that completely. If they want to improve the tag team division, they should bring up Deuce and Domino and they should keep their 50s greaser gimmicks. I never thought I would be fans of theirs, but they have impressed me over the past couple of weeks.

This week's OVW TV: CM Punk & Seth Skyfire vs. Deuce & Domino http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SFEJ5W8M Cody Runnels vs. Kasey James http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0JC7HX71 TJ Dalton vs. Simon Dean http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GWUWD43Q Elijah Burke vs. Shawn Osborne http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MIIKEISH Charles Evans vs. Pat Buck http://www.megaupload.com/?d=99OHCG3P Promos & Interviews: -Interview with CM Punk & Seth Skyfire -Jerry "The King" Lawler interview -Six Flags Summer Sizzler Series promo -Man in the Woods -Spirit Squad's Johnny & Mikey speak to the lockerroom -Eugene interview -Maria interviews Al Snow -Simon Dean responds to Al Snow -Maria interviews Rob Conway -An announcement by OVW Owner Danny Davis http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BXH6UZWN Punk/Skyfire vs. Deuce & Domino is good. Both Punk and Skyfire get some good sequences in the opening part of the match. When Deuce and Domino made their debut, I thought their gimmick was stupid. The more I've seen of them, the more they have grown on me. I think they could be called up with their gimmick and be a good mid-card tag team (which is good, because that seems to be how tag teams are treated on the main roster). Cody Runnels continues to look pretty good. The Dean, Burke, and Evans matches are all squashes, though Dean uses an impressive finisher. As far as the promos go, I'm interested to see where this Danny Davis stuff goes.
-
The WWF tidbits thread got me thinking about this. What was the deal with Jim Neidhart coming in to WCW in 1993? It seemed out of nowhere. I'm pretty sure they put him on the cover of a magazine or poster book, so it seems like they were going to try to give him a push.
-
What the hell?

Here is the rest of this weekend's OVW show. Promos & Interviews -Armando Alejandro Estrada run down Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom card -OVW Opening -Jerry "The King" Lawler Six Flags promo -Second vignette for unknown wrestler -Maria interviews Cody Runnels -Shad Gaspard & The Neighborhoodie's Training Video http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4O9L3U6Y Elijah Burke vs. The Miz http://www.megaupload.com/?d=33S3TBV3 Cody Runnels vs. Raul Locos http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KKRA6Y5R Estrada is gold on the mic. I've not seen him on RAW so I don't know how much they've toned him down. Runnels is a very sound wrestler, which means he'll be in OVW forever and will be released when creative can't come up with anything for him. I've not seen him in anything but squash matches, but he's impressed me in those. I'm interested to see what he can do with some of the more established and seasoned wrestlers. After I made the offer to upload DSW, I found out that my VCR didn't tape the show this week. I should have something next week, though.
