I don't want to use the word 'crushing' because I still like our chances heading back to NY, but man that was a disappointing loss. About the bugs, the umpires should have held the game to let the grounds crew at least attempt to deal with it. That was ridiculous and it obviously had a direct impact on the outcome of the game. There's apparently a precedent for games at Jacob's Field being delayed due to problems with bugs too. It's water under the bridge now, but that really could have been handled better. I'm not going to get on A-Rod's case, and I hope the Yankee Stadium crowds don't either, but if he doesn't make something happen in the next two games there's going to be a full scale mutiny. I will complain about Torre. First of all I have no idea why Giambi didn't get the start at DH in this game, and didn't even get a fucking at bat!! Absolutely and completely fucking unbelievable. He kills right handed pitching and had a homer off Carmona the one game he faced him, not to mention he's the 2nd most dangerous hitter on the fucking team and we're paying him $20 million a year. Matsui is nursing an injury and in the middle of a terrible month long slump, you gave him the start last night and he didn't do shit (and speaking of that Matsui was hitless in his career against Sabathia). Not only that, but YOU BAT HIM BEHIND A-ROD!!! WTF?!?! Fucking retarded and indefensible on Torre's part. The other thing that bothered me was bringing Pettitte back out in the 7th. He'd been getting in jams every inning and you had to think that was going to catch up to him, and if it did you knew you were going to Joba, and considering that he'd been used almost exclusively as a guy who came in at the start of innings and had little experience with inherited runners, that might not be the best position to put him in. Thanks to Joba we were fucking lucky to get out of that inning, but bugs aside, it might have cost us in the 8th with Joba being put into an unfamiliar situation like that where he pitches in a high pressure situation, sits, then comes out again. I understand that Pettitte hadn't thrown a ton of pitches and he's the ace of the staff, and I'd like to give Torre a pass I guess, but I really had the sense that he'd been lucky to have gone 6 unscathed and that they were going to the well one too many times, and this kind of shit has happened too many times with him and Gator to ignore it. Done venting. Suzyn Waldman is going to have a thousand orgasms on Sunday.

I'm loving the D-Backs and Rockies shaking things up in the NL. And they sure as fuck aren't boring, both teams are full of exciting young players getting their first chance at the national spotlight, and as a baseball fan that's awesome. As far as the argument that it sucks because the franchises are so young, well everyone has to start somewhere, right? What's better these teams never going to the playoffs and never winning and being a blackhole of suck ala the Tampa Bay 'Rays, or them starting to carve out a legacy? And yes, the D-Backs have won a world series, but it was a veteran ballclub, this is the first homegrown Arizona team to make noise. Ditto for the Rockies who built around veterans early on to help build a fanbase. I can understand a Cubs fan or Phillies fan or a fan of some other longsuffering team being a little bitter/jealous, but y'all should lighten up. I'm loving TBS coverage too. Reminds me of when CBS used to do the playoffs. No frills, just actual game based coverage. It's not perfect but it's a million times better than FOX or ESPN.

I'm taking a risk with the potential for a huge reward. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a beast right out the gate, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he struggles a bit and has an up and down year. I think he's got a low end potential of 17-8 pts, 6-7 boards, 45% fg w/ a steal a block and a 3 a night, and I'd be more than happy with that, but either way, it is a keeper league.... And there was no fucking way he was falling to any 'later rounds'. Like King said, I thought for sure he'd be off the board by the time I picked.

To be fair, she filed an internal complaint about Thomas, then got fired, then filed the lawsuit. So it's not like she was initially after the money. And really, it was the fact that she got fired after speaking up and MSG couldn't really provide a believable defense for it being unrelated, and the anecdotal evidence of the chauvinist climate at MSG that won it for her, the verdict reached said as much. I can't really take sides. I don't doubt that Thomas said or did some 'inaproriate' things, but a lot of Sanders' evidence sounded like little shit blown out of proportion. They definitely proved a pattern of behavior though. But there's a really thin line when it comes to sexual harassment in the workplace, and in terms of like what's a joke, what's the tone and situations, and what's acceptable to an individual person and what crosses the line, only Thomas and Sanders really know what went down between the two of them.

Fantasy sports is fun with a group of friends, and I like playing in leagues at message boards like this one from time to time Admittedly though, when I first discovered fantasy sports 7-8 years ago I became a bit of a junkie. I started innocently enough with a fantasy baseball league with college buddies, had a lot of fun with it, and then for a year or two was just really into it, entering up to 10 serious teams for each sport (baseball, basketball, football), and wasting a couple hundred bucks in the process. Because of that I can't really knock it too much, but I know for me it was a phase I went through, had fun with it, and lost interest in fairly quickly. Once you've more or less mastered the strategies and won some tough leagues it's time to move onto another hobby, ya know? Drafting random players you don't even like based simply on expected statistical output isn't really fun. If I do put together a random ESPN/Yahoo league these days I just draft players from my favorite teams or players I like and really don't worry too much about winning, and I usually end up forgetting about it after a couple weeks.

Styles/Tomko v. Team Pacman could be good TV depending on how much Christian and Samoa Joe get involved. Perfect opportunity for a 6 man tag match on Impact.

Why exactly did they retain Tom Coughlin again? With Tiki retiring and Eli struggling but still salvagable it was the perfect time for new blood. They're pretty much guaranteed to be mediocre again this year.

Everyone is going to put the focus on Cro Cop losing that fight, and ignore that Cheik Kongo is a bad ass fighter who completely dominated him out there. Seriously, I've been impressed by the strength and raw ability of Kongo since his first UFC fight, and all I ever see online is people badmouthing him for his lack of technique. Fuck that, that dude can throw down, he's a great striker, and I've yet to see anyone handle him wrestling wise, pure skill or not. Some of his fights have been 'ugly', but people always said Tim Sylvia's fights were ugly. Aesthetics do not always make a successful fighter. The Hamill/Bisping ruling was brutal. Just embarrassing.
