Elijah Burke would be perfect for the TV Title. What took them so long to call him up?
-
It is a shame that the Lashley - Test match will most likely be terrible, they have done a decent job of building for it.

I think there was something about Shannon Moore pissing off Vince earlier last year just before he debuted on television. Do not count on him winning any matches until he gets released sometime in mid-2007. Also, there will be no CM Punk - Hardcore Holly match at the Royal Rumble. The ECW title is the only ECW match that will sniff a major card for the time being. No one can convince me that jobbing CM Punk clean to Hardcore Holly was a good move. What upside does Holly have left? Is he ever going to be a challenger for the title? He should have been a bump in the road and if they wanted the feud to continue then they should have had Holly get DQed on purpose (if they insist on using DQs in ECW that might as well use them properly).

How is Umaga's character killed with a roll-up? Would you have rather he tapped out? If anything the roll-up keeps him stronger like Cena won on a fluke.

Has it ever been reported why in the world Jim Duggan is on the active roster? I could understand the occasional nostalgia appearance. Now that Eugene is a heel he will be relegated to Heat more often.

My favorite part was Warrior booting these real snakes all over the place with his big yellow cowboy boots.

The East is so depleted, it seemed like it was getting better the last few years but this year seems to the widest difference in talent I can ever remember. This year's Western Conference playoffs should be outstanding. The East's only hope is that whatever team wins the West will be so beaten up badly that they run out of gas.

They need to do another draft. That way they can get their "misfit toys" into ECW and maybe sneak a couple of workers in as well. I think the brands could use a bit of a shakeup anyway.

WON News + Notes, December 25th Issue
Human Fly replied to The Decemberists's topic in The WWE Folder
Thanks for posting these every week, much appreciated. Cornette is a fool if he was actually suprised that new divas and Tough Enough contestants did not know who Lou Thesz was. -

I like how WWE supposedly thinks that Sabu is a weaker character because of his reliance on weapon matches, yet when they showed a hype video for him every shot had him using a weapon in some way.
-
He can touch him in a match (which was stipulated when the no touching was first announced)
-
I still half expect Umaga to win the battle royal and win the title tonight. What is better for buyrates? Cena as champion or Cena as challenger with a good chance to see a title change?
-
RVD as a heel, no matter the promotion, will always end up getting cheered. It happened in ECW and it happened when he came into WWE. Nothing will come of this meeting. Nothing ever comes of the other meetings they posted on WWE.com of this ilk (Brock Lesnar, Pride etc.) WWE probably just wants some video footage.

Anybody think it is possible for a quick title change this Monday with Umaga and then have Cena win it back in January?

The Clippers might be an option with Shaun Livingstone being part of a trade package. Salary wise Cuttino Mobley and/or Corey Maggette would have to be part of the package. Call me old fashioned but I just do not see the Sixers trading AI to the Celtics where he can kill them in the division. Also any trade with the Celtics is going to include Brian Scalabrine because other than Ratliff, Wally S. and Paul Pierce because no one else makes more than 2 million dollars on the team. I do not know what kind of provisions are in his contract regarding trades but you have got to think that AI wants to go to a contender. The Celtics, even with Iverson, would be no contender.

Talent wise? I have been playing with the old ESPN Trade Machine: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trademachine If the Sixers just want to blow up their team a deal for Eddie Griffin, Bracey Wright, Ricky Davis, and Mark Blount would work financially. Griffin, Wright and Davis would all be off of the books after next season ($9,728,609). ESPN is saying that Minnesota is hesitant to deal Randy Foye which I would think would be a sticking point, also they are unable to trade their first round pick. Minnesota I think has a lot of guys who would be finishing touches on a team, not who you would trade a superstar for. I would be surprised if a deal gets done. Chicago has a lot of pieces, I would be surprised if they do not make a pass. For instance a deal with PJ Brown, Tyrus Thomas and Luol Deng would work. Lowering the Sixers cap by 2.5 mil with PJ Brown's 8.5 salary coming off of the books after this season. But do you need all of those forwards on the Sixers. Maybe the Bulls are not a good trading partner with the Sixers as I do not see them getting rid of Ben Gordon or the Knicks pick.

What do you do now if you are WWE? Do you still run "ECW" without Paul Heyman?
-
Well, I am surprised he lasted this long with the way things were structured. He had mentioned last year that when his contract was up with WWE in December of 2005 he wanted to start a new promotion. Be interesting to see how the contract situation shakes out. Does anyone know how many years he resigned for?

I will have to check out more of Sapp's work. I knew he had charisma to burn but have never been impressed by his ring work. It seems foolish that the WWE would be so hung up on house shows since they are folding ECW house shows in with Smackdown. They could have gotten away with only needing Sapp 3 dates a month.
-
What went wrong with the Sapp deal? It sounded like a formality and then it never happened.
