This does not make sense to me. Why build him up in vignettes and then release him? Would not be surprised if there is more to the story, maybe he is being used as a wellness policy example? I doubt he was making much money, why not keep him in the low - mid card and squash people and get the crowd warmed up? I bet he would move a decent amount of merchandise too.

My favorite DDT sell was Ted Dibiase at Wrestlemania 6 I believe. Jake hits him with it and he kind of bounces off the mat and flips onto his back. (Kind of hard to explain) Jake had just been tossing some of Dibiase's money around and when he hit the DDT the money flew off of the mat and made for an awesome visual. The headstand sell is pretty cool too though. (I have no problems with the Canadian Destroyer either).

Hey, his music is no where close to as good as it used to be but, Sandman's music is starting to get a pop right when it hits. I have no problem with Matt Striker in ECW. All he is going to be is a jobber with personality. Justin Credible cannot do it every week. Did anybody else think that the crowd mics got turned up when they started chanting RVD? I know 2 Cold wrestled in a dark match. I would love to see him get another run, always been a bit of a 2 Cold mark since he debuted as "Ron Simmon's partner" on a Clash of Champions. The 450 blew my mind back then.

This might be good for his long term health but it is a killer for his career. You cannot build someone up as the "Masterpiece" have him go away for a few months amd then come back looking like a guy from the local gym. Wrestling fans have short memories, but not that short. I feel bad for him, really bad for him. He did more with the role that was given to him than a lot of other people could have. He was not that good in the ring, but for a company that is pushing a 53 year old man with one leg that is gone and another on life support in the main event of one of it's top three shows, he was adequate. I will honestly be surprised if he ever makes it back out of development. Once he gets released he will probably juice back up and catch on somewhere else.

I do not think the length of the show is the problem. I think the way it is booked right now and the roster is what the problem is. When ECW was syndicated it never had a problem with 3 titles and 15 minutes of the show was filled with billboards. The hour ECW show now is mostly competitive singles squashes and then a singles Main Event. We need more 3 way dances, tag matches and 6 man tags.

I am thinking Angle goes over tonight. Why build up Sabu to get a title shot and then have the blowoff be at Summerslam when Sabu - Show will be the 4th match on the card? Save Sabu's title shot for a time when they need a match that will draw. You can have the Basham's cost Sabu the match, then have RVD make the save and have the Bashams v. RVD + Sabu at Summerslam.
-
I cannot help but wonder if they wanted the last match to suck. They had to have known that the crowd reaction would just be brutal and that Sabu would get a huge pop. Also, WWE already did an admirable job of attempting to kill Philly as an ECW town they might as well make a run at NYC.
-
If the crowd roasts the show as expected will this be the last time that WWE runs new ECW in an original ECW building?
-
Punk is taking on Justin Credible. Also, Joey is building up Angle's adversary as a big surprise. Maybe that Benoit rumor is true?
-
So you are saying, basically, that Tyson Chandler is as good of a defender as a 4 time defensive player of the year?

OAO ECW on Sci-Fi Thread for 7/25 (Week 7)
Human Fly replied to QuestionMan's topic in The WWE Folder
I am thinking that they might save Sabu v. Big Show for a few weeks and have RVD cost Show the title. They could then include RVD and Show into the Dreamer/Sandman v. Knox/Test/Heyman feud and have Sabu defend the title against everyone. -
OAO ECW on Sci-Fi Thread for 7/25 (Week 7)

They should just tell the truth and have him come out and say that he lost them from some "extreme" rock smoking. -
Back to claim the Skins once again.....

Well, not as good as last week's episode but not the worst we have seen either. Although I do not like the "Extreme Rules" concept I can deal with it. However all title matches should be extreme rules. Kelly took a pretty good shot from the cane. If that was Lillian Garcia she would have been screaming like she got stabbed. Does anyone know if there are plans to bring back the TV or Tag titles? Has there been a tag match on the Sci-Fi show yet? I know that having the show live at an "ECW" venue is not an option but what about taping 3 or 4 weeks of television at a time? I seriously think every aspect of the show would improve.

OAO ECW on Sci-Fi Thread for 7/11 (Week 5)
Human Fly replied to QuestionMan's topic in The WWE Folder
Well, aside from there being a DQ in an ECW show I think tonight was possibly the best show yet. The only ECW DQ I remember was when Francine was biting Terry Funk's ear. I am sorry but the main even tonight felt like an ECW main event. Flair got his spots in and when you start to believe that there is a chance he will be able to pull it out the heel comes back and ends up winning clean. If this was a traditionally booked WWE match Foley would have come down and cost Flair the match. Instead the right man wins and still puts over the Flair v. Foley storyline. The final shot with Flair being helped to the back and Styles saying "Can anyone stop the Big Show?" when the copyright came up was classic ECW too. -
OAO ECW Week 4 on Sci-Fi, July 4th
Human Fly replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
I question the wisdom of killing a town so soon when you start a new brand. Especially when the brand you are restarting is ECW and the town you kill is Philadelphia. The wrestlers are not what is killing this in my mind. ECW always had it's fair share of slugs. It is this "Extreme Rules" crap. Back in the old ECW where you might have had a jabroni like Mike Knox fight Little Guido there would at least be some chair shots and FBI interference to spice the match up. Now there is just "not ready for prime time" Mike Knox stomping Guido and making faces like he is constipated. -
I agree with this, where is everyone hearing that Sabu wants to leave? He came in and was put into arguably the highest profile mini-feud of his career and has not lost to anyone but Cena (as best I can remember). At this point in his career Sabu would be a fool to give this up.

Can any Detroit fan fill in the gaps on what happened with Ben Wallace? I read a few months ago that he had fired his agent and was just going to pay a lawyer by the hour to work out a contract and he had no intention of even talking with other teams. Then last week I read that he hired a big name agent (I think David Falk, but could be wrong) and was looking to test the waters. Is this Flip Saunders's fault? I think this is a huge loss for Detroit. Wallace epitomized the hard work blue collar Pistons of the last few seasons. Rasheed and McDyess is not going to get it done in the 2006 - 2007 season, they might as well blow the team up and rebuild around Rip and Prince. How big does the Darko draft debacle become now?
-
If that is true then then they will be in TNA by Wednesday. Does anyone think WWE will fire the two biggest stars of it's new brand over some pot?
-
True about the punching. But there seems to have been a lot of suspensions for flagrant fouls as well. Maybe I am just imagining it, but I wondered if there was a new rule in place so guys did not have to worry about getting mugged when they were taking it strong inside.
-
Man, they are suspending guys left and right this post season. Is there a new rule I missed?
