Meltz is reporting in today's update that Teddy Hart has been released due to a problem with mgmt. Too bad, he has all the tools to be a mega star but he is likely too big of a headcase for that to ever happen.

An old school TV title could work on ECW where a 15 minute time limit on a one hour show would play perfectly.

Cena Injured Tonight (Out 6-12 Months)
Human Fly replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in The WWE Folder
He can be so sure (i.e do everything he can to prevent/run in) that Umaga will crush HHH, that won't be an issue. Regardless, Orton can't just walk out and say "I'm the #1 contender, give me the title" and Jericho shockingly shows up. They need to show they had something planned. All he would have to do is say in the beginning of the show that Orton will be facing a "former champion" and then the announcers can spend the next 2 and a half hours speculating which champion on the roster (Raw and SD) it will be. I expect a face to win the title and send the fans home happy because I fully expect Big Daddy V to beat the hometown boy for the ECW title. -

But from a kayfabe standpoint Vince putting HHH in the title match for no reason makes zero sense. -

Meltz says today in his update that the longer they hold off on announcing anything the more likely Jericho - Orton becomes. Got to admit, I am really starting to get my hopes up. Even if the pop "only" equals what Jericho got in the same building 8 years ago it will be a special moment. -
Did Snitsky get suspended for 60 days or is he injured? I do not recall seeing him since getting protected against Cena a couple of months back.

Because charasmatic muscleheads will usually pop a live crowd. (Warrior, Luger, Road Warriors, Goldberg, Sid etc. etc.) -

I hate it when the E has something drastic happen and they make a quick knee-jerk reaction (see Khali title win a few months ago). They have 5 days to make a decision so why rush a decision so soon? (I know they want to pop a bit of a rating for ECW but anyone who cares can just check the website at 10:05 and find out what the story is.) Meltzer lists possibilities of Orton v. HHH, Orton v. HHH v. Umaga, Orton v. Jeff Hardy and Orton v. Undertaker. If Undertaker ends up on Raw out of this something has to be said about Batista benefitting from every major injury this year. Undertaker and Kennedy get hurt so he stays in the ME scene with Edge. Edge gets hurt and he stays in the ME scene and eventually gets the title. Now if Undertaker goes to Raw because of the Cena injury Batista probably stays in the title picture until Wrestlemania. -

Interesting to see where they go here: - First of all I fully expect to see HHH walk out with the belt. - A good spot here to pull the trigger on one final Ric Flair title reign if they are going to do it. - Count me in for someone else who would like to see a Jeff Hardy title reign. He is over enough to warrant. - A Jericho return and title win would produce an absolute nuclear pop. Here is hoping that they take advantage and try and do something different. I would rather Orton win the belt than HHH. PPV buyrates are usually pretty crappy between now and the Rumble right? (except for Survivor Series) A good chance to see what sticks when it is thrown against the wall. -

(4.5) San Diego @ Green Bay San Francisco @ Pittsburgh (9.5) St. Louis @ Tampa Bay (3.5) Cincinnati @ Seattle (3.5) Cleveland @ Oakland (3.5) Jacksonville @ Denver (3.5) (4.5) Carolina @ Atlanta N.Y. Giants @ Washington (4.5) Dallas @ Chicago (3.5) Tennessee @ New Orleans (4.5)

I think the records are premature. By my count if the Skins hold on and the score stay relatively close I win on the tiebreaker.

Ha! There is some speculation on the DVDVR board that Sandman was not supposed to be in the ring that long and is not considered a former Champion by WWE writers and he was just crashing the party (so to say) and that is why he got canned. I do not think that is what happened but it would be awesome if it was true.
-
I still think the music would have helped. I do not think he would have been this over but here is a good Sandman video where the crowd goes banana for him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etF5YdJwBmY

Count me in with those who thinks there might be a bit of more than meets the eye to this story. Maybe the Undertaker was backstage and Sandman did not introduce himself... Somehow Jim Duggan continues to draw a paycheck, which is mind boggling.

Is the story about WWE "cutting costs" by removing name plates on titles still going around? There have been some title changes since then and the plates are still being changed. That story just makes no sense to me, what do those name plates cost in a year? Certainly not enough for someone to even bring it up as a serious cost cutting move. -
Where is the talk of Morrison getting the title back on his return coming from? I thought the Observer had a note last week about Big Daddy V getting a title program with CM Punk?

Ric Flair is a fool if he leaves. He plans on retiring in 8 months anyway right? Does he honestly think TNA would be able to do a Ric Flair retirement justice? (He could wrestle Sting at least I suppose.) I am sure he would have his choice of behind the scenes jobs as well with WWE if he stays. I know when you are arguably the best of all time a less glamorous roll is hard to think but honestly, I think they probably need someone on the payroll full time just to constantly reassure Ric and keep him from having an emotional breakdown. If for no other reason I think he will stay because of that expensive divorce settlement from last year. Naitch needs the bucks.

No, they should not. Bad writing has killed two shows. ECW is the best show the E has going because it is simple old school "grudge match" booking. You know going in for the last month that (for the most part) you are going to get a segment involving Boogey and Big Daddy V, a segment involving Miz and Balls, a segment involving Stevie and Thorn as well as a segment involving Morrison and Punk. Sprinkle in some Dreamer, Burke and Guido for flavor and there you go. Do you honestly think that if they were to end the brand split it would not be three times as stale as it is now? If your argument is that with three shows they would spread the stars around I would tell you that they already do that with the split. No one can convince me that there is upside to ending the split.

The hell it won't. Call me old school or cheap if you want but paying $60 for a game and then paying close to an additional 20% for game content is a rip in my book. -
ECW/Smackdown Spoilers for the 9/4 and 9/7 airings
Human Fly replied to BorneAgain's topic in The WWE Folder
I am not expecting too big of a bump in the ratings, the Punk win was only advertised online. When the title changes hands on SD they have always pimped it hard on television beforehand. As far as the Major Brothers go. They are on SD and part timing it in OVW. They have lost 2 out of the last 3 weeks on OVW so that should show you how the compay views them. I think a name change is in order: "The Vanilla Brothers" is more like it. No charisma (or at least that has been given a chance to show), boring moveset and boring attire. Booking was looking like they might get a run with the tag titles but someone in the Office came to their senses. You could reunite the dynamic tandem of the Brooklyn Brawler and Reno Riggins and get more of a reaction from the crowd. Someone explain to me how these guys are on the main roster but creative cannot find anything for Rob Conway? -

Yeah but did the ref know that? I mean, obviously when they picked him up for it they gave him some sort of audible, what did they say? 'Take the finisher', 'Samoan Drop', know knows? If the ref didn't know ahead of time what he was taking, he wouldn't neccessarily know what was happening and how to take the move and was put in danger, whether it was a spike piledriver or what. He could have went with the part of the move JTG uses and landed on his head, took the drop at the wrong time, any number of things. The Raw brand has what? 5 Refs? This ref probably reffed about 40 - 50 Cryme Tyme matches over the last year. I am sure he was well aware of what their finisher was. He might not have known exactly how to take it, but I doubt he was pissing himself expecting the Steiner Screwdriver. -

That is weak sauce if it is true. I am sure all of the refs have basic bump taking knowledge. Basically all the ref would be taking would be a basic samoan drop bump. If the ref can be in on a rib and break script and count out Crime Tyme then he should be able to take a rib too. It is not like he got stiffed on a big boot. You can call it racism or whatever but regardless the punishment did not fit the crime (no pun intended) as far as I am concerned. Especially when you look at past precedents.
