I never thought that by 2007 being a fan of the original ECW would date you, but it has. You have got to remember at the time WCW and WWF would occasionally refer to each other with intelligence insulting barbs like "This is great action you will only see on WCW! Unlike those other guys! This is where the Big Boys play!" While in ECW at the time they were ripping on the other promotions by name and saying the kind of things that you and your buddies would say if you were all sitting around looking at PWIs. "Shane Douglas would kick Flair's ass if he ever came to ECW!" It was kind of like a veil being lifted. I also think the music was a big deal as these guys were coming to the ring in stuff that you were listening to, not some Jimmy Hart composition that you would not be caught dead listening to. The whole WWF attitiude era was basically ECW lite as they "borrowed" a lot of ECW concepts.

I am most intrigued by the MITB match. I think that the winner almost has to be a heel since we have had face champs for the last 6 months or so and will be leaving WM with two face champs (barring a turn). If you had a gun to my head and said I had to pick who I think has the best chance to win (going from best to worst) I would pick: - Ken Kennedy - Randy Orton - Edge - Jeff Hardy - King Booker - CM Punk - Matt Hardy - Finlay I think with 8 men there is a strong chance for an overbooked mess. Depending on match placement I think we could see the New Breed come out and take out CM Punk only to have him return the favor later and help the Originals win.

Elijah Burke has got the goods. Another year or so as a heel to fine tune some things and I think he could have a really hot run as a baby face.

What does he need Joey Janetty around for? Well, they were the best tag team in the company, save for maybe the Hardys who aren't teaming much anymore. Who cares if they were the best team? Nitro was slumming it in the tag division. Someone explain to me how this is bad for him.

Why would Edge and Orton get punished for something that happened 2 years ago? Seems silly to punish them for past deeds... I do not think it would be a punishment per se. Just kind of laying low until things die down.

I know this is a major story, but I really think that it could become a business changing story. The Wellness policy was obviously on the way out. If this story had not broken then I doubt we ever would have seen a major round of tests again. If Edge or Orton were scheduled to win at Mania I bet that is out the window now. You can probably count on April - May being big months for suspensions now. Any of your wrestlers without traditional "bodies" (Jeff Hardy, CM Punk, Finlay, etc.) could be in line for some pushes now. Or it could just blow over in a week...

I hope none of you are getting your hopes up about JBL wrestling. If he is even in tights I would be shocked.

Why would Mistico go to all of the trouble and cause all of the controversy to try out if he was still under contract? Seems to be an illogical move. They are probably negotiating with Jericoh to come back in September so he can bulk up some. Will be interesting to see if they rocket him to the top, or bog him down in the midcard again.

Wasn't it just yesterday we heard that MTV got a new head of programming who championed bringing WSX in to start with and how the show "was in good shape"? I bet Vampiro wishes he did not change his weekend plans now.

I am dissapointed and will probably not buy this now either. But, they had to do this. The show would have been killed by the live crowd. Fans turning their back on the matches, organizing a mass walkout, you name it. I would not have been surprised by any of it. If ECW lasts past this year it is obvious that the only nod to years gone by will be the name (that includes wrestlers). No point in dragging it out and giving fans a taste of the old ECW to reinforce how watered down the current version is.

As someone who has only seen Mistico on Youtube I need someone to break it down for me: Does Mistico have enough going for him after WWE neuters him of his high spots to get and stay over?

Any word on the particulars of the Mistico tryout? How does an empty arena tryout work? Have him work a match with agents watching and calling spots? I am really interested to see how this shakes out.

They already have made it better. It was originally planned to be Hulk Hogan and then Shawn Michaels in Lashley's spot. I like Benoit and Flair but with the kind of potential rub that is available here it has to be an up and comer. Lashley is a good choice.

I was thinking tonight about the New Breed v. Originals storyline. I think a Bill Alfonso type character would work really well for the New Breed. A crooked Ref who steps in when Sabu tries to use a chair, Sandman his cane, Dreamer his weapons etc. Play it just like Fonzie did and DQ people for closed fists. It obviously would not be as effective as it would have been before but I think the Originals still have enough reputation with the fans as being proficient with weapons for it to work.

The posturing would not be so bad if he hit it more often after setting it up.

I know Warrior has already had some success in the courtroom againse Vince, but if he wins this one we would have to put him in Jesse the Body company and I think the precedent set by the case could open the floodgates. I think Warrior could have a problem convincing a jury that in the fake world of pro wrestling this DVD was "real" and the insults hurled were malicious as opposed to the insults that are part of the show hurled on a weekly basis.

If Lashley is the pick for Trump I hope they get those two on the house show circuit ASAP!

I am glad Deuce and Domino lost. They do nothing for me in the ring and their hokey gimmick will fizzle out within 2 months. D & D are a perfect example of how the cupboard is bare right now in development. If the E is intent on keeping Heyman on the payroll I do not know why they do not send him back down to book OVW.

Has Snitsky vs CM Punk been annouced for next week? The feeling I got from Snitsky is he's going to just attack random guys. Just conjecture on my part.

I think the CM Punk depush is still on. All that happened last night was CM Punk beating a guy who they are low on and CM Punk being built up a bit just to be fed to Snitsky next week.

Well, this is the spoilers thread so what the hell is it?

Hypothetically, if ECW ONS 3 had the same ticket prices as ONS 1, there might be some problems, although whether that would be more "killing the town / hardcore fanbase" thanks to that ECW TV taping in August, or just the gradual killing of the brand would be up for debate. I mentioned that example before but Hawk 34 just said "small arena, big WWE fanbase, no problems" and he's probably right. I think an argument could be made for the 7-4-06 ECW killing Philly as an ECW town.

I loved the report a couple weeks ago from a house show when fans were chanting "he's on steroids" and Test responded with "so". Really no surprise here and if anything shows that the Wellness policy is only put into effect when the Office's plans for you are done. If the rumors of ECW being done after this year are true, any chance Test ends up getting released instead of being brought back?
