Luger never "retired", he and Vince always intended for him to wrestle for the WWF. I remember reading that he got out of his WCW deal early by signing a non-compete clause promising not to "wrestle" for the WWF or officially work for them for about a year. The plan was for Luger to sign with Vince as a "WBF Bodybuilder" and still appear on tv like he did in April/May '92 and talk trash about the WWF guys to build up his coming back to "wrestling" in '93. He was never going to compete for the WBF. They only had one event a year and they said Luger would be a "Special Guest Poser" and not a competitor. Luger got into his motorcycle accident before the ppv and wasn't there. Instead of appearing on WWF tv as a "WBF star" he simply satyed off tv and rehabed his injury and debuted for the WWF around the time he likely would have anyway. I always thought his choker image was among the fans, it was never liked the announcers pushed that he couldn't win the big one.

No I wasn't there for that. I went on Friday night. I think there were four sessions: Friday night, Saturday afternoon, Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon. I think the brawl happened on Saturday. I never saw Jim Cornette, would have love to though. Bob Backlund was the guy that came to the ring and talked to the fans in our session. I heard that Axxcess the next yaer in Seattle was horrible, it was about half the size and people felt ripped off.

Why don't the cast memmbers get credited as writers? Normally it dosen't matter, but I would be pissed if I was a cast member and SNL won the emmy for best writing and I didn't get one even though I wrote as much as anyone else.

When it happenned Jim Ross, on commentary, complimented Tommy Young for his quick thinking in realizing that sliding outside the ring was the only way to get in a good position to make the count.

I missed Kelly singing Breakaway and Rap Night, I liked what I saw though. Kelly Clarkson is good looking, I always roll my eyes whenever I read or hear someone talk about her having a weight problem. Bob, the commercial was a parody of e-harmony.com. It's an online dating site that says if you sign up and take take their compatibility quiz, they'll find your soul mate. I was dissapointed that they didn't parody the site's founder. On the real commercial I always thought he came across as a minister or cult leader who was trying to get you to sign up. The guy is an old man with white hair and glasses, so Will Forte wasn't even trying to play him. Bob, not a week after you said Darryl Hammond never comes out for the good nights. He was out there.

I had floor seats but couldn't really see because a women in front of me was standing up most of the show, waiting for Rick Rude to come out. I recall going to a house show in '90 and seeing Dusty Rhodes and Sappire W/Elizbeth vs Randy Savage and Sensational Sherri W/Brother Love, but they don't have a match listing for that in Houston and the Houston cards they do show don't jog my memory. I went to a show in '92 but don't remember the card. I do remember going to a show in August '94 with Lex vs. Yokozuna in a strecher match was the main event the site doesn't show that one though. They've got one in Dallas on the 11th, one in San Antonio on the 13th, I thonk the show was on that weekend. I also went to a WCW show at the Sam Houston Collisium in Dec. '91, Main event was Rick Rude vs Sting. I went to anoter show at SHC in October '92, main was Rude vs Ron Simmons. I saw WCW at the AstroArena in Sept '95, Ric Flair vs Sting was the main event. I had great floor seats for this one. The dark matches were held after the taping. They taped some matches for the next weeks show befor the live show. I remember that Norris (Ahmed Johnson) was billed from Houston and Rico Suave was billed form Orlando. It was chep heat because the Rockets just beat the Magic in the NBA Finals, but it turned out that Johnson really does live here in Houston. I was there on the 30th and it was a great night. I got my picture taken with Mick Foley and he signed the "Hardknocks & Cheappops DVD". I was happy because the autograph lines were huge and the wrestlers rotated seemingly at random. Foley was the only wrestler I was willing to stand in line for and I was worried he would leave before I got to the head of the line. The crowd chanted "ECW ECW' when Jerry Lynn got in the ring. I saw the Hulk Hogan look-a-like guy. I did Fantasy play by play on Cactus Jack vs HHH from Royal Rumble 2000. I felt for the people who wanted a lot of autograph because standing in line for one took an hour and the event was only four hous long. Including the line for Foley I saw everything in about 31/2 hours and spent 30 min wondering around. People who waited for 2 or three autographs probably didn't get to see everything. Around this time people had started noticing HHH's political power. Bryan Alverez on Observer Live noted that it seemed like it had been forever since HHH had gotten pinned clean on ppv. People looked it up and realised that the Hog Pen match with Henry Godwinn was the last time that HHH had been pinned one on one on ppv. Every other match was a dq, tag match, and cage where he lost because the other guy climbed out. I had convinced myself that HHH was never going to lose and ending UT's undefeated WM streak would be right up his ally. I was sitting next to my cousin who was a UT fan and told him about how HHH never lost. When HHH nailed UT with the sledgehammer, I was convinced that it was over. Whie the ref was counting I was going on about how HHH was the smartest man in wrestling, the crowd went nuts when UT kicked out and my jaw was almost hitting the floor in shock. I had rarely been so happy to be wrong. I was sitting in the field box (the closest section to the floor, but not on the floor/field) on the side the camera was facing and when UT & HHH brawled in the production equipment, we couldn't see anything because they weren't showing it on the big screen.

The belt wasn't on the line at WM 7. At WM 6 against Jake they said the belt could change on a DQ or countout. At Summerslam '91 they mentioned that DiBiase had it put in the contract that the belt only could change on a pin or submission.

Since two season shows like "The Job" and "Andy Richter Controls the Universe" have been mentioned, I'll add: SportsNight -
I just watched David Cross on "Dinner for Five" and he mentioned that from what he hears from his friends who have worked there that SNL is not a place he would want to be at. He said it sounds like the type of environment that's more worried about pitting the writers/cast against each other to get their stuff on the air instead of a place worried about producing good comedy and he said he wouldn't want to be somewhere like that. Maeby's not black though. Yeah, but Maeby's Jewish and so is Maya. A least I think the girl that plays Maeby is Jewish Let it be true so I can say I trapped Bob in his own logic.

I thought the show was good this week, probably because my expectations were so low. I thought the "Exclusive Connections" skit was the funniest. I'm suprised Bob didn't jump on Maya for laughing at Horatio's vulcan nerve pinch line. Trumps and the bar were the only skits I didn't like. From the Chalie Sheen episode: I've always remebered my favorite line from the Iron Chef skit, Sheen says "Get ready Japan 'cause the USA is gonna kick your ass just like we did in Vietnam."

I don't get all of this "Ray sucks except for Jamie Foxx" talk. Jamie Foxx is the entire movie. It's The Ray Charles Story and he plays Ray Charles. You can say the performence was better than the movie but saying that "Jamie Foxx was great, but the rest of it sucked" is like saying "'Dirty Harry' sucked, except for Clint Eastwood". I thought the script and directing were competent (I'm not saying they were award worthy, but they didn't sink the movie). Once that's taken care of Foxx's performence is going to account for 90% of what makes or breaks the movie. Is there enough of anyone or thing else in "Ray" that is so horrible it drags down Foxx's performence and destroys the movie. I'm not saying "Ray" deserves to win anything (I rank it third of the five best picture nominees and if I had a vote for best actor it would go to Don Cheadle). But everyone seems to be forgetting that Hollywood movie awards are not about who was the best who kisses the most ass, who spends the most money on their campaign, and who has momentum. When "Ray" came out Foxx got his best actor momentum started. After the end of the year came and none of the other contenders had gone by him, his momentum was so much that he brought the picture, director, and writers along with him for the ride. That's why "Ray has all it's nominations. -
Keller seems to be a fan of the FOX News Channel, so I'm not sure about that. He let Pat McNeil model his column after "The O'Reilly Factor" and admitted to being a fan of Sheppard Smith (I remember him saying something about WWE should have a tv segment modeled after Smith's "Around the World in 60 Seconds".) I think Keller just wanted to find a reason to trash the book (maybe he was jellous that an Observer contributer was the co-author) and needed to nitpick to do it.

I loved his speech/voiceover at the end of "Get On the Bus". I thought that made the movie.

When Marty Jannetty came back (the first time), and jumped Shawn Michaels while Shawn was primping infront of his mirror before a jobber match.

Well nobody present would be stupid enough to trash him. But I agree that HHH works hard, is good in the ring with guys, etc. Just saying that I wouldn't expect a current roster guy to even THINK of bashing him in an interview. I'd say Lance Storm. He never really caught on with the mainstream fans, but I believe was really respected by everyone in the business for being a good, hard worker. Meltzer said that in the Hall of Fame balloting, the overwhelming majority of current wrestlers who voted would put him in the hall. Even under the protection of anonimity, most guys won't trash him and will say they think he's earned his spot.

Goldberg vs Raven for the U.S. Title on Nitro. This is when Goldberg won the title, the crowd goes nuts when he spears him. People in the front rows are jumping up and down. People are jumping at WM III when Piper locks the sleeper in on Adonis, they're throwing t-shirts around during Hogan-Andre.

One year in the PWI 500 there was an indy guy named "Chicken Neck", he wore a mask that made him look like a cross between a luchador and The Red Rooster. PWI claimed that that his ring intro was "hailing from The Purdue Institute and weighing in at $1.17 a pound".

Yeah, I agree with Bob Ueker being the best of the Wrestlemania celebrities My rule feeling with Wrestlemania celebrities was that if they were getting paid, the least they could do was pretend they were happy to be there. I thought Ueker, Mary Hart, Vanna White, Susan St. James, Regis, and Nicholas Tutturro were good at that.

Check Gorilla Monsoon's comentary. On PPV, when Hogan is eliminated he's objective about it. On CV he's digusted by how Sid could stab Hogan in the back.

I got into wrestling when I was about 5 years old, but I became hooked two years later in the build up to Wrestlemania. I was a kid and cheered Hogan like everyone. By the time he was in WCW I was tired of him. After I became an insider fan I hated Hogan's backstage poiltics and wasn't intersted in seeing him come back to the WWF. At WM X8 I couldn't believe the Toronto crowd was going nuts for Hogan, the entire match I thought they were stupid for falling for Hogan's routine. But when he started to "Hulk Up" even I have to admit I would have been cheering along with everyone else. When Hogan posed after the match, they should have played "Real American". That would have put the moment over the top. Same thing the next year against Vince, If he had come out to "Real American" instead of "Voodoo Child" they would have blown the roof of the palce.
