Probably odds-on. I don't mind if we get Angola and Saudi Arabia as well.

That whole thing hasn't even been funny, just sad

That's always the complaint I hear concerning Tindersticks. I've read more than a few snidey comments about Stuart Staples voice by some music critics.

A loss at Elland Road but at least we got a good cup draw. Spurs at home is the best third round draw for as far back as I can remember. Could be a decent game if we manage to turn in a performance.

I don't really get post-OKC Radiohead at all. I get U2's music and why they're so popular but I only like them in a Greatest Hits kind of way. I was always more of an REM man. I certainly get Super Furry Animals and own a couple of their albums but they seem to be regularly praised in overly gushing terms by many critics. They haven't even released a particularly good album for ages.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

Why is American Music Club's California album seemingly out of print? Why the hell has Mark Kozelek made a Modest Mouse covers album? Why do I like Screeching Weasel's My Brain Hurts so much? Why did I have a fecking Maroon 5 song stuck in my head the other day?

There's plenty of bands I don't get.....but I don't hate any of them with an undying passion.

If we can can stick four past them then anything's possible. I hope Arsenal don't want Ryan Smith back too soon.

Thank you, fog! The ref for the United/Villareal game tonight was a disgrace. Why is it that referees can't tell when players are blatantly diving and play-acting, when however many thousand were at the game could? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You would think with everything at stake, the final match vs Benfica will be a more open affair and that will only benefit Man Utd's chances. They haven't had the answers when Lille and Villareal have shut up shop against them but Benfica will need a goal from somewhere if they want to play in any European competition again this season. I never rated Carew much over the years but he looks the real deal for Lyon. I thought Houllier might slowly fuck up Lyon a bit but they still look really good.

    Turning around on albums.

Try Ride's Nowhere, or the first two Jesus and Mary Chain albums. More accessible and typical than Loveless with a lot of the same noise, if that makes sense, and all very good. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Give Slowdive a try. I'm still waiting to turn around on early Low. Everything post- Secret Name I liked instantly but Long Division and The Curtain Hits The Cast seem less inviting and almost too minimal in execution. I need a very close listen again. From good to great......... East River Pipe - The Gasoline Age (In hindsight this was the wrong album to get first but worth it now) East River who? Just take my word for it ok? Nina Nastasia - The Blackened Air Richard Hawley - More as an artist. Just had a pre-set judgement of him as Radio 2ish dullard. Not a bit of it. Sufjan Stevens - Michigan: Appreciate over time just how well this is put together and ochestrated as one collective piece of music. I can even mostly forgive it being overlong now.

'One Way Ticket To Hell And Back' - Surely that's a return ticket? That silly Darkness band. Song sucks as well.

    The Best Album of 2005.

I thought it was decent on first listen but after playing it some more I wasn't far short of feeling some love as well. One of about 6 or 7 albums i've really enjoyed this year, all of which i'll post a lovely picture of when we have the annual Best Albums of the year thread.

What a great England game. We got very stretched at times by an excellent Argentinian side but although we rode our luck a few times we could have had more goals ourselves. Could have been 5-5.

You can score some great goals on the new one, you can strike the ball better from distance and score some excellent headers and volleys from crosses. Very frustrating to start off with, losing the ball easily and taking ages to get it back or more often concede a foul but it doesn't take too long to adapt to it.

Up to the dizzy heights of 13th after beating Coventry, whose fans seem to particularly dislike us for some reason. Absolutely everybody had a good bitch and moan after the Burnley defeat so it was a big win, especially coming from a goal down.

I've just ordered the new Pro Evolution game. I might get Football Manager for Xmas if I can hold out that long. It was tempting to get both but it'd turn me into a complete anti-social git so I just ordered a couple of music albums to go along with it instead.

It's an East Midlands thing with those tinpot cup sections. We'd be in the southern section of the Anglo-Italian one week and the Northern section of the ZDS the next. Well, the Akinbiyi moment finally happened tonight. It's bearable considering he's always scored in this division and we're fucking relegation fodder. The knives will be out if we lose to Cov on Sunday.
