Hang on in there, surely it's got to get better soon for Forest. I read that Alan Rogers turned down a trial at Stoke. He took offence to the trial part.

    Anybody Watching the US Open?

Pierce vs Clijsters in the womens final. Dementieva wasn't too impressed with the long break Pierce took when she'd just won the first set comfortably. Pierce predictably returned a new player and won. Perfectly legal. Some would say smart, others would say gamesmanship. Clijsters breezed the first set and Sharapova was rubbish. Second set Sharapova was playing one great point and then one poor one while Clijsters was a steady eddie the other end. Somehow she saved 5 matchpoints and took it to a third but just when it seems we'd got a thriller on our hands she pretty much chucks it away at the start of the third. I hope Clijsters finally gets that slam she deserves. As for Sharapova, I can't quite figure her out. She's too streaky for me too bet on her when it really matters against the likes of Clijsters, Henin & the Williams sisters. She's got the tools and the mental strength but her level of play dips too frequently. Fantastic event so far. The mens almost from the off and the womens caught fire as well from the Q-Final stage. The Agassi/Blake match was a joy to watch. I went from wanting Agassi to win all the way to almost cheering more for Blake. You know its a great match when you're emotions and support are switching during it.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

Are you the person who once said that The Spice Girls were the finest example of pure pop excellence in modern music history or something like that? I'd prefer a post of yours going into more depth on that if you wouldn't mind.

Not much there to shout about is there? Ok, so you have more sports teams than us. More crap teams anyway. Don't knock proper sports like Rugby when you're putting shite like Ice Hockey down either. Bloody cheek. Just because Tigers have won more than any of your lot combined. I was being sarcastic anyway. So easy to get you to bite and still you couldn't come up anything good. Delusions of grandeur and all that.

Leicester is the nations sporting capital. We have a statue to prove it.
  8. Wedding Crashers - 7/10 Enough laughs for a worthwhile watch. Predictably sappy second half but a nice Will Ferrel cameo to compensate. Seed Of Chucky - 4/10 Lacking the wit and camp sense of dark fun Bride Of Chucky had this is a bit of a mess. The smart one liners of Bride are replaced by a tidal wave of bodily fluids. Chucky having some bonding sessions with a son had some comic potential but it was largely wasted instead on more bickering with Tiffany. There's plenty of blood flying about but the death scenes are very mundane and unimaginative (nothing to match the waterbed scene from Bride) and despite being a good sport Jeniffer Tilley probably tries too hard to send herself up. If I wasn't a Chucky mark this would get about 2/10 so be warned.

I thought this was done a while back and Nil By Mouth won hands down but that might have been on a general swear count rather than just the f word.

Connolly has gone to Wigan for 2 million. Hume from Tranmere has been signed though so at least we haven't been left a striker short.

What happened to that little Alex girl off Fame Academy? She certainly fell off the face of the earth pretty quickly.

He gatecrashed my sister's wedding reception.
  14. We did it! Just. Brilliant game again. Great tension all the way to the death with the Aussies really excelling themselves today to make England sweat like mad before squeezing home. Even with 10 runs to go I was still sweating.

Robinho looked a bit special when he came on for Real Madrid tonight. Felt dizzy watching all those lightning quick stepovers. He's going to fun to watch this season.
  16. Celtic vs Rangers = Catholics vs Protestants Real Madrid vs Barcelona = Spanish history lesson Modern era tennis = Graf vs Seles. The stabbing robbed us of seeing this one finish properly as the post-injury Seles, although still a top player, wasn't quite the same force. Sampras vs Agassi. Had some nearly flawless matches.

Can Australia do it for the 10th time?

At least England is capable of giving Australia a good game these days. It wasn't even a decent contest for way too long.

    Recommend me

I love The Pogues version of Matilda. I always thought they made that song their own and McGowan performed it flawlessly. As somebody mentioned Elephant 6 'indie pop collective thingy' i'll recommend the last Ladybug Transistor album. One of the better albums of it's kind the past couple of years. Not quite song for song great as say, Chutes Too Narrow or a couple of others but still pretty nifty.

Ipswich tomorrow. Not the best record against them in recent years but at least it's at home, we're awful at Portman Road.

Marlon King's just scored a cracker for Watford, who have the genius of Jordan Stewart at left-back. Ellington to WBA is funny timing but he had a release clause apparantly.

I watched the Sheff Utd game in a pub on the Isle of Wight. Sat with an older Birmingham fan who was a nice bloke and after a few pints I was even able to just about shrug off that bizarre defeat. We were the better side for 80 minutes, played all the football and then it just all fell apart in ridiculous fashion. Our midfield looks promising, bossing it on saturday without Hughes and Tiatto but it'll be wasted if a fit Dublin is sat on the bench and De Vries is missing chances left and right. We might have found out already why no premier team stepped in to get Rab Douglas ahead of us.
