Edit can also help...when you put down the wrong name. Ha! Sorry about that. I think Nine Lives is ok as well but as far as Aerosmith goes I wouldn't really recommend anything after Rocks too strongly. I wish they would call it a day.

You can't go wrong at £3 can you? Sometimes you can really surprise yourself by taking a risk on something going cheap that isn't near the top of your 'must buy' list that would cost normal price.

Even though they come a very distant third out of my favourite Welsh bands (after Gorky's & SFA) i've never liked that album much at all. 'If You Tolerate This' was ok, it sounded like it could have been on Everything Must Go but 'The Everlasting' and most slower songs on the album sound dreary. Its not a bad album but I find it flabby and uninvolving compared to most of their other stuff.

They'll be in trouble if he's not there, they looked really poor at the end of last season.

Nobody remembers these days and I still feel 'uncool' for saying this but I definately agree that the first Stereophonics album wasn't too bad. The songs had some drive and passion and in terms of overall quality its unrecognisable from the dull rubbish they have subjected us to ever since. 'A Thousand Trees' alone had more life in it than anything they have done since.

You know, for someone who considers multiple Greenday and Offspring and Grinspoon albums to be *****, one would think you'd be a bit more judicious with ciriticising people. I can go ahead and ban you if you don't have anything to add here, though... Why threaten to ban somebody for slagging off another's taste in music? What do you think this folders for? I've seen you do it yourself on numerous occasions so its not something you should even threaten to wave your little mod dick over. i think anorak should be banned for taking that post seriously. You know what I hate? Myself. edited for accuracy. So you DO know how to use the edit button! Well done! If you just look back up the page you'll see a simple guide to how the edit feature can eliminate the need to quote the post directly above you ever again courtesy of myself and LaParkaMarka. You're welcome!

Which is pointless when it only takes a couple of seconds to edit any post if that does occur. Stupid lazy fuckers.

Anybody interested in some instrumental music which has plenty of melody and feeling but without being indulgent, overlong or dull could do worse than check out Explosions in the Sky's The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place.

Tell me what you do not like about NOFX and Bad Religion. Give me reasons to change my opinion of thier music. Personally I dislike those bands because they don't have enough genuine emotion. Bad Religion have always put genuine emotion into their music.

Fugazi - All of their albums retain a certain edge so I wouldn't restrict yourself to just hearing their first couple of hardcore style records. Their last album was one of their best. The Ramones - Like somebody said earlier, the first 4 albums. Screeching Weasel - Must be the best example of the Ramones/SoCal type sound, My Brain Hurts and Anthem For A New Tomorrow are great albums. Essential for the pop-punk 'faithful'. Descendents - I haven't heard the latest album but Everything Suks album from around 96 is definately worth getting alongside the earlier stuff (including live). Bad Religion - Suffer & No Control are the normal choices but anything in the up to Recipe For Hate (which was half a really good album) is excellent. The All Ages comp is a good sampler of that late 80's/early 90's period. The Clash - I like the debut the most. The Jam - Seeing as somebody else mentioned them. Brilliant singles band. Personally I like Sound Affects and Setting Sons, some great songs aren't avalaible on certain versions of their records so its worth reading up and getting more opinions. SNFU - Some of their stuff hasn't aged too well but i'd still recommend checking them out to some extent. They sometimes stumbled into some great guitar sounds and at the very least had a satisfying crunch to their sound allied to an original sense of humor. New Bomb Turks - Remember them being described as a cross between Jerry Lee Lewis & MC5 on a dose of amphetamenes, good description of an enjoyable band. Solid records all the way but the first two or three are definately the best. Green Day - I like everything they've done but the first three albums are my pick.

I couldn't see many people at all voting for Brown, I certainly wouldn't.

Leicester might be signing Gareth Williams from Forest according to the local press. He'll get some stick off their fans when we play them next season if its true.

I might get round to doing one tomorrow, trouble is due to his retirement and Belgium not even being there I can't pick the legend that was Marc Wilmots in my dream team. I ALWAYS had him in any World Cup/Euro Champs teams, i'm sure ther'es another bargain of a goalscoring midfielder in there somewhere.

Even though we lost on penalties both times at the semi-final stage the 1990 World Cup and Euro 96 both hold endless great memories. I remember the moment Shearer scored and I really thought we were going to do it, it just seemed meant to be with that special atmosphere which had gripped the whole nation. Every time I see a replay of Gascoigne just missing that cross in extra-time I swear he's going to put it in, one of the best games i've ever seen. The 1990 match was possibly even better, there was enormous respect between the teams and you just couldn't seperate them at all. That whole tournament is my favourie sporting event of all time, so many memories, Cannigia getting poleaxed by Cameroonian defenders in the opening upset, the volatile Germany-Holland game, Baggio's goal, Milla tackling Higuita, Platt's last minute volley against Belgium, Maradona crying at the end of the final, Gazza's tears etc etc. It also spawned one of the best ever books to be written on a sporting event in All Played Out. As for domestic sport it has to be Steve Claridge's winner against Palace in the 96 play-off final, must be one of the most dramatic goals ever scored at Wembley (I know i'm biased). A perfect moment. Steve Walsh's winner against Derby in 94 and the League Cup win in 97 (car horns didn't stop all night) would be second. I'm not the biggest Rugby fan but it was hard not to be proud of Leicester Tigers winning back to back European Cups a couple of years back right up there with England beating Australia in the World Cup Final last winter, to beat them in their own back yard with close to 100,000 England supporters (No country in the world has better fans than us) either in the stadium or watching elsewhere in Sydney was incredible.

Or scoring. Or entertainment value... -=Mike ...But they do have more riots... Proper football riots are extremely rare and have largely confined to the past, at least in Europe anyway. I bet there's been more riots in America over the past couple of decades when some random city uses a superbowl victory as an excuse to run amok. If I attended sporting events where I had to sit on my backside for 4 hours next to people behaving like they were in a cinema i'd have some energy to burn off as well.

Uncle Tupelo - March 16-20 1992 Alt country can sometimes be a dreary genre but more often than not it produces music which can be passionate and timeless, inspired by tradition and offering new interpretations of it at the same time. One of the best examples is this album. Roughly made up of 50% originals and 50% traditional covers it fits together perfectly as one of the definitive modern albums of...whatever alt country's being called this week. Their version of Moonshiner is enough to give you goosebumps and songs like Fatal Wound are spare and beautiful, not a note or lyric is wasted or played anything less than perfectly. This was the first Uncle Tupelo album I bought and its bare, traditional sound was something I hadn't been exposed to before, its probably been responsible for opening up a whole different type of music to me and that's not a bad extra bonus to get with one of the best albums by one of the key bands of the 90's.

I plan on getting more but at the moment I just own Roadmaster, which is very good. 'One in a Hundred' is a track that sounds like classic Byrds with its harmonies and apart from the title track there's nothing there I don't really like.

Oh get off it! I hate Millwall as much as the next fan, but as a Leicester fan, that is an EXTREMELY biased opinion. Well, as a non-Leicester fan I completely agree with the statement. I don't even think that Wise is worth hating to be honest, the thing that angered most people was him trying to screw some money out of the club for his 'unfair treatment'. It was also a classic case of footballers not living in the real world that pisses off average supporters, would any of us expect to keep our job if we punched a workmate?
-
Wise proved yet again what a worthless little shit he was on Saturday, there may not be too much pride and responsibility associated with captaining a team like Millwall but wouldn't it have made a nice change for him to show just a little class or maturity on saturday? I thought his display of kicking, shoving and schoolboy verbals made him look pathetic but what else do you expect from a man who'd punch a fellow player while he was fast asleep and then attempt to sue the club for wrongful dismissal?

Aimin' to go straight back up, eh? Sunderland released more than that last season and did well but its going to be a much tougher division next season than it was this past year. Not sure if the same mass exodus will take place at Leeds, although certain players will obviously be snapped up. Looks like Wolves will unfortunately retain the most players and be in the driving seat for promotion although they've always had a history of being too inconsistant to get automatic promotion. I may turn out to be wrong but i'd be very surprised if the top two pull away comfortably next season like they have in the past couple of years, its going to be a lot tighter. Players out: Izzet Sinclair (shame, wages too high) Guppy McKinlay (strange one, would still have done a steady job but maybe they want younger legs for the future) Williamson Davidson (gutted about that one, big blow) Hignett Freund Impey Rodgers Priet Murphy Lewis (was on 15 grand a week!!) Matt Jones, Keith Gillespie and Paul Brooker are avaliable on frees, Heath is staying, Ferdinand is hopefully staying instead of moving/retiring, Scimeca's gone and Dickov will surely go with him to WBA or to Birmingham to join Izzet. Thatcher and Dabizas we'll have to wait and see.

Physically Demanding - Never in a million years. You get booked for the slightest contact these days. And players take about a month off with a slight cold etc. And they played more game in those days - 42 game league season etc. And no squad rotation rubbish either! More skilful - Nope. Obviously never seen tapes off John Robertson or Trever Francis twisting and turning away from oppisition defenders. Better pitches - Yes, the pitches are better, but that makes it easier to win matches. It's far harder to beat a team on a muddy/snow covered pitch, particulary when your a footballing team. European Cup full of really good teams - Come off it. There's FOURTH place teams it in! It's stupid. Plus remember last season - Newcastle lost three games in a row but still got through to the next round. Stupid. Back in the day, when you lost a two game tie you were out. That makes the whole thing much harder. Plus the current "everyone one qualifies" system creates a system where the best teams (will barring awful management) always be the best teams because of the huge amount of money you get from it. In the old days it was a much more level playing field so to speak so to be successfull took much more managerial skill in terms of who to buy and how much to spend. The Forest team of 1978 to 1980 won the old 1st divison, two league cups (when the "big" teams were bothered about it!), an FA Cup semi-final, 42 games unbeaten in the league and two European Cups. As good as Arsenal are, they need to win *at least* one European Cup to really count as being "great". Although having said that I'd rather watch Arsenal play than any other team, I'd never say they aren't very, very good and wonderful to watch but untill they win the European Cup they cannot be classed as good as the Forest team of 78-80, the Liverpool teams of 77-84 or even the Man U teams of 1968 and 1999. Heh, I knew you'd bite! I do think Arsenal's whole unbeaten record this season is better than Forest's old one though in truth. I'm glad that the European Cup at least went back to two-leg knockout for the last 16 this season, its far more interesting and exiting and makes it a more level playing field for the less wealthy teams outside of Spain, Italy and England, who didn't have the league format to protect them from going out after 1 or 2 bad performances. Who would have predicted a final between a French team and a Portugese team? I fancied Milan vs Arsenal but they both blew their second legs big time.
