The OAO RAW thread for April 10, 2006
haws bah gawd replied to Open the Muggy Gate's topic in The WWE Folder
You have to be pretty young to mention the Triad and Wolfpack and not mention the Freebirds. C'mon. I'm 24, but didn't start really watching a lot of wrestling until the mid 90's. I watched a little from 90-93, but it was mostly WWF. I didn't know the Freebirds were allowed to switch-out members for title defenses. Learn something new everyday. -
Is this the same Josh Matthews that hosts Velocity and tries time and again to stop Tim White's suicide attempts? I had no idea he was an active wrestler at some point other than the time he spent on the first Tough Enough.

The OAO RAW thread for April 10, 2006

I didn't know Kane (the person) was tired of wearing the mask. I just thought it was just a different direction WWE wanted to take his character. -

I really enjoyed RAW last night. This may have already been brought up in this thread, but I'm not up to going through the previous 9 pages. I had been talking to a buddy of mine about the Spirit Squad's tag title run, and we both agreed that WWE needed to give them a stipulation like WCW gave the New Jersey Triad and the nWo Wolfpac, where any 2 members can defend the titles. Then low and behold, WWE does just that. I think it adds an interesting dynamic to their matches. The only thing I would do different is give the spirit squad another set of stipulations that allows them to switch-out between the 5 members during a title defense. It would give a good rub to the team that eventually beats them because they will have defeated 5 other men for the belts. I'm not sure where WWE is going with the psycho Kane storyline, but if it leads to him putting the mask back on, I am all for it. -
Potential Backlash WWE Title Match Spoiler
haws bah gawd replied to Enigma's topic in The WWE Folder
Oh, how I await this potential holocaust of crowd heat. If either HHH or Cena were to walk into the ECW show with the WWE Title, they would be crucified by the live crowd. I can only imagine the crowd response to RVD losing. WWE has kind of written themselves into a hole with this one, and RVD has to win. Let him keep it until Summerslam if you must take it off him so soon, but DO NOT let RVD walk out of the Hammerstein Ballroom without the WWE Title. -
I was unaware that turnbuckle pads are filled with packing peanuts. I can't help but mark out like a kid for the big lug though. If he can string-together a somewhat watchable match, his appearance alone will take him far. Hopefully while he was training in Deep-South he was schooled somewhat so that if he is placed in a tag match, he won't try pinning the wrong guy. What finisher do you think WWE has assigned to the guy? I'm going to throw a guess at a powerbomb of sorts. Maybe since he's feuding with Undertaker he will use a variation of the Last Ride. I'll give him a chance before I pass judgement.

Does anyone else find it stupid that everytime some big wrestler gets the best of the Undertaker, Michael Cole has to yell out "NOONE HAS EVER BEATEN DOWN THE UNDERTAKER LIKE THIS BEFORE~!". Yea Cole. Noone since about a month ago when Mark Henry splashed him through a table, and before that it was noone since Brock, then Kane, and you see where I'm going with this. WWE DESPERATELY needs some sort of continuity here.

Benoit can take Albright under his wing (who looks like Benoit with Burchill's head attached), then bring in Harry Smith later this Summer as his second protege. I like that idea a lot too.

Damn, well theres no denying who that guy's dad is. He looks exactly like him. Any word on what he's like in the ring?

Randy Orton suspended by WWE for 60 days
haws bah gawd replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
One thing has gotten me curious. If Orton is supposedly such an utter dick backstage, you have to wonder why one of the veterans hasn't taken it upon himself to stretch his ass in the ring. In WCW when Goldberg started getting an ego, he had a Nitro match against William Regal, and Regal essentially made him his bitch. I'm surprised Angle or Undertaker haven't decided to work a little extra stiff with the guy to try to teach him a thing or two. Orton reminds me a bit of a school-yard bully. He can talk his shit (to the Divas, and other wrestlers), but I bet if he were put into a real-life situation against one of the guys, he'd be a pussy. -
Thanks for the upload Euronymous. Well, that wasn't the worst match I've ever seen, but it certainly sucked balls. Dalip no-sells to such a degree that Hogan would tell him to cut his opponent some slack. I will still maintain my previous statement that Dalip has a great ring presense, but thats about all he has going for him at the moment. He is gigantic in every sense of the word, but the in-ring ability just isn't there, or at least it wasn't in that clip. I did like the powerslam setup for the Diamond Cutter move that he did in the opening minute of the match, though it took him a good 20 seconds to set it up. In the end it was worth it to hear the japanese commentators yell out CHOKA SLAMMAAAAAAAAA and GIANTAAAAA BOMBAAAAAAAA~!

? ?? ??? Yes, there were apparently 3 of these God forsaken things. -
Can someone identify this midi? I have heard it is from Xenogears, but I'm not 100% for sure. Xenogears.zip

Go ahead and give us a link. Let's see what the guy can do. I've only seen a few short clips of Dalip in the ring. I wasn't all that impressed with his ability but he does have ring presense, and that will take him far. One of the clips I saw was of him giving a japanese wrestler a chokeslam. This was a HORRIBLE-looking chokeslam too. We're talking Hogan vs Undertaker from Judgement Day 2002 levels of bad on this thing.

With comments like "go masturbate at home" being thrown at you, whats not to like? I would laugh my ass off if he yelled that at me. I know of someone else with this knack for yelling obsceneties at people.......OH YEA! Warrior, Danny the Tourettes Guy called, and wants his gimmick back: The Tourettes Guy

Soundtracks are usually different bands and what-not that contributed music to a film. Scores are the background music you hear in a movie, that are mostly composed by one person. For example, you never see a Star Wars SOUNDTRACK, you always see "The Original Score" in stores. The Soundtracks that get the most play on my ipod are: Rocky IV - This is without a doubt the finest compilation of music that man has ever produced. Transformers the Movie - If you can't smile listening to "Dare", or "The Touch", then you have no soul. The rest of the soundtrack is full of badass 80's hair rock bands like Lion, Spectre General, and N.R.G. Daredevil and The Punisher had lots of good songs on their discs. Forrest Gump deserves some honorable mention as well. It was such a diverse sosundtrack.

Backlash Main Event announced...
haws bah gawd replied to Lt. Al Giardello's topic in The WWE Folder
I get goosebumps at the thought of the crowd reaction to either John Cena or HHH at an ECW show. That will bring a whole new definition to "nuclear crowd heat". -
I'll chalk-up the booing to a mix of "it's the cool thing to do", and people just plain-out wanted Angle to win. If you look at the size of these guys, Angle would be able to maul both Orton and Mysterio in a straight-up fight, and has no business loosing to either, and the fans know it. The same thing happened between John Cena and JBL at WMXXI. People were calling for JBL's head and wanted the belt off him, but the second he lost it, the same people bitched for him to get it back ASAP. This was long before the fans started turning on Cena. I think it's just that people can't make up their minds of what they want.

I'll throw in my 2 cents here. This was without a shadow of a doubt, one of the worst episodes of this show ever produced. I would put it side-by-side with the Pip episode from Season 4 as the worst thing to come from this series. Trey and Matt are REALLY stretching for funny material now, and its starting to show pretty badly. I've been trying to figure out why all of a sudden, all the parents of South Park are being written to be complete idiots. Stan's dad is a geologist, and Kyle's dad is a lawyer, but since season 9, they (along with every other parent in South Park) have been written to lack any ounce of intelligence. There have been a handful of episodes here and there, but the last truly classic episode was "Fun with Weapons". The Super Adventure Club episode from a few weeks back had its moments, but it's not an episode I would want to watch over and over. These past few seasons have been pretty rough to sit through.

Good idea there. It'd be a way to try to get someone over if they had little/no heat with the crowds before they left the first time. Now, when Tomko returns (you know he will be back eventually), if he can do his big boot without busting his ass, then at least there will be some improvement. I remember when the guy first showed up in 2004, and had his first PPV match with Jericho. Up to that point, you had only seen the guy in jeans and a wifebeater, and he looked pretty ripped. When he was in wrestling trunks, you could tell he just spent all his time working on his upper-body because everything else had no shape or definition to it.

Is there any info on Dalip, aside from him being a little under 8 feet tall, and quite possibly the worst wrestler to ever step foot in a ring? Have any of you guys had the chance to see him in person yet? I remember reading from someone on another site a month or so ago, that said Dalip makes the Giant Gonzales look like Kurt Angle in comparison, as far as in-ring skills go.

Damn, I can't believe I didn't notice that the samoan guy was Jamal. I guess I was used to seeing the guy in his hip-hop attire and dreads from the 3 Minute Warning Days. So, does someone want to explain to me what WWE saw in pushing him with THIS gimmick, over reuniting 3MW? Whoever said Roberto Antonio Guadalupe Gonzales Estrada (or whatever his name was) looked like Lou Bega, I was thinking the exact same thing. I had been watching the show with my girlfriend, and when the guy came out I asked since when did Lou Bega sign with WWE?

Big Show has been using the same theme since 1999, I believe.

Not to mention the 'stiffing' of Victor's dick as he jerked off over a sleeping David Flair's face. I thought David woke up and realized Victor was teabagging him? Either way, Quinoes was a pretty sick guy.
