  1. There's always a few rematches on the first Raw after a PPV. Along iwth Kane-Umaga, I expect something with the Spirit Squad and the Highlanders. I'm going to tonight's Raw. Tonight's a supershow along with Smackdown tapings. They said last week in the Slam Jam segments that there will be Booker vs Vito and Chavo vs Mysterio in a cage match. Since we're in Montreal, there will surely be plenty of SS97 references. I just wonder how the crowd will react during the Dx/McMahon segment, will they crap all over them ?

You don't need Doom 3 in order to play RoE. I'm not 100% sure on the classic games but I think they're Ultimate Doom, Doom II and Master Levels, which is two expensions packs for Doom II. Doom and Doom II are also included in Doom III collector's edition.

    WrestleMania XXIII Main Event (RAW)

I don't think there will be any uber-match like Austin-Hogan. If there was any plans of this, they would have done something other than a tease at last year's Homecoming and HOF ceremony. There hasn't been any interest shown from Austin and he won't come back from retirement just to fall to the big boot and legdrop. If there's any Hogan match for the 20th anniversary of Hogan-Andre, it will be something like Hogan-Big Show. For the Raw main-event, we don't have many options in who will be in the main-event : either HHH, Cena, Edge or HBK. The only way one of these won't be in the main-event is if we have a surprise like we had at WM21 and someone gets mega-over in time for the Rumble. We'll probably see Cena-HHH II, with Cena as a full-blown heel and HHH as a face for reign #11. I like the Cena-Michaels option. I think they only had one match togheter and, since they're hell-bent on having Cena as their #1 babyface, who's a better antagonist than dick-heel HBK ? The only time he acted heel since he came back was in his promo last year in Montreal and it was like he hadn't missed a beat since 1997. Edge should face Taker. They both have the undefeated streak card and, if Edge keeps his heat until Wrestlemania, he could get over huge by ending Taker's. However, they haven't shown they're willing to get 100% behind Edge. I don't know either if ending Taker's streak would be a good thing or something that must be left intact. As for the Smackdown main-event, Batista vs Lashley is a no-brainer. If there's no Austin/Hogan, and unless they comp the hell out of the place, I see WM23 being more like WM8 at the Hoosier Dome : huge arena but not sold out.

    Which Wrestlers are Millionares?

Even though it was his gimmick, I don't think Ted DiBiase must be one of the richest men in the business. Hogan made the most money back in the 80's, there's no question about it. I wonder however how much the others made. I'd say the other ones at the top would be Piper, Andre and Savage, but how much did DiBiase made during his run ? Even though he was in WCW when Bischoff threw crazy money at the wrestlers, I don't think his role warrented a huge contract. In the wrestlers' salaries thread from a few months back, I've read that Kane made considerable money, along with first-class privileges, whcih is something every WWE champion has in his contract.

    Prison Break

I guess the other criminal is someone who Mahone chased but never was able to caught. That makes a parallel between him and Scofield. In yesterday's episode, it was said that Mahone's bosses weren't too pleased with his methods. His obsession with catching Michael must come from the fact that he screwed up catching the other guy. Maybe there's a relation with the guy and the mysterious pen-pills.

Street Fighter is the best movie ever.

OMGKURTANGLESTOLEHISENTRANCEPOSEFROMZANGIEF !!!!1! Street Fighter is my favorite video game movie ever, if The Wizard doesn't count. My friends were all over the Mortal Kombat movie when both films came out, I was the only one who preferred SF over MK. Raul Julia IS the movie. I remember the scene after the credits where he launches back his world domination plans to tease a sequel. Since we're talking about video games-inspired movies, I think Mortal Kombat : Annihilation is by far the most retarded movie of the genre. However, I didn't saw any of Uwe Boll's films, so maybe Annihilation is like Citizen Kane compared to them. Does anyone else remember the Mortal Kombat TV series ? "On the seventh day, mankind will rest... IN PEACE !"

    Kane...

I don't think Kane will ever get a run on top. If they had any intention to put him in a main-event spot, they would have done it in 1998. Yeah, he had the belt once, but it was because of stupid Russo booking where they were put into a corner by having the "If I do not win the title, I will put myself on fire" stipulation at the King of the Ring. Just having a 1-day reign doesn't qualify as being a "real" champion. Kane is stuck at the same place Jericho was before his program with Cena. He's been there since the Attiude era, so he still gets pops because he's a name and a character fans have known for a good period of time. However, he's been so buried and stucked under the glass ceiling when the right opportunity came that he's practically irrecuperable. If they went all the way with him the last time he was hot stuff (when he lost the mask in 2003) things might be different today. Unfortunately, all I see for him till he retires are the continuation of his yearly stupid storyline and J.R creaming his pants when he comes into Royal Rumbles.

    WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2007

I bought last year's game at full price, which is something I usually never do, only because I got caught in the hype from this forum. Since I sold it back only two weeks after I got it, I won't even bother to rent this year's version. No way I'm paying 60 bucks for just a roster "update", a slightly different submission system, additional gameplay with new kinds of meters and new crappy divas matches. I still have blisters from all the button mashing from last year's impossible casket match. I wonder how they will make the CAW even more weak than it's already is... Screw that, let's go play a 4-player, 40-men Rumble, pins & submissions-only at No Mercy !

    Gaming Memories

I recently had a discussion with a coworker about how the games of today fare against the games of yesteryear. He mostly plays recent stuff and never looks back when he finished a game. I, on the opposite, don't mind dusting off the old NES once in a while and revisiting old games, and most of the "new" games I play were released two or three years ago. What we talked about is which generation of games had the most "Wow" factor. This thread isn't a discussion about old games vs new games, since everyone has his/her tastes. It's about sharing some of your favorites memories you have of games. I'm sure most of us have been playing video games since a long time, probably that many of us were born in the "NES generation" and began with Super Mario Bros. Since that was 20 years ago, and so much came since these days, I'm sure all of you must have a few interesting stories or thoughts about the games that impressed you the most. Here are some of mine : - I didn't understand at all how to play Dragon Warrior. I constantly skipped over the text 'cause I didn't knew who the hell "Thou", or any word of the old English meant. I didn't know how to save and I always tried to finish the game in one sitting. So I always started a new game every time I wanted to play. Most of the time, all I did was killing Goldmen and getting rich, even though I had the strongest weapons and armor at that point in the game. It took me 6 years to beat the damn game. - I remember playing Mario 64 for the first time in a Toys R Us and beating the King Bob-omb. I was so stunned by the graphics and the fact that I beat the boss that my adrenaline rush lasted nearly half an hour after I left the store. I came back the next day. - Playing Doom and experiencing virtual violence for the first time got me and my friends so excited ( in the bad sense ) that our parents hid the game for a week or so. It was the pixilated SNES version, and those were the greatest graphics that I have ever seen at that time. - I used to always play Royal Rumble for the Genesis. Even though matches always lasted under two minutes, I created my own storylines and had a King of the Ring tournament every 20 minutes or so. Then came Raw and WCW World Tour, which were completely off the hook. - I remember going to the arcade and there was always a line for stuff like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter or X-Men. Nowadays, if you find 5 people or so in an arcade, you're lucky. - The first game I got hyped on was Sonic & Knuckles. I was sold only by an ad in Sega Visions which was the box art for the game. It finally came at my video club and I rented it. The title screen after the "Se-gaaaaaa" part is so awesome, still the best I've seen on a 16-bit cartridge. - Since we weren't rich, we only bought 2 games a year : at my birthday and at Christmas. So we played the same games over and over or we rented one at the video store. One of my favorites was Dragon Warrior IV. I didn't followed the story, just cruising around the world and playing at the casino was all I needed. The first RPG I played in the proper sense was Final Fantasy VI. The story, music and characters were all so memorable. My #1 RPG of all-time. I will stop there and post more if my thread is catching on. If not, oh well.

Is Valkyrie Profile really worth its crazy price ? It seems you can't find the game for under 150 dollars, on eBay or anywhere else. Not that I'd be willing to pay that much for only one game, but I'm just curious to see why this game is like the Holy Grail of RPGs. Is the PSP version the same as the PS1 version ?

Big WWE TV changes in Canada

Bumping the thread. I don't know if it's the same for all Global affiliates across Canada but here in Quebec, they show WWE Raw at midnight. I don't know if Global picked it up when acquiring ECW, but it's odd that there hasn't been any news about this, since Global is a major network.

    Gas Price Check...

Even though there hasn't been any major variation on oil prices, gaz went from $96.9/L to $102.4/L for the weekend. So that means the equivalent of $3.84 per gallon. The situation isn't as crazy as it was last year, but it's still royal thievery.

    Dumbest Songs of all time

Just listen to just about any Top-40 type song and you've got it. Pretty much all the songs they show on MTV or galas where stupid teenage girls are screaming their lungs out, or talking how "ohhhhh my God, he's so cuuuute" a singer or group is - that's the worst stuff you can find. My vote goes to either that Milkshake song from a few years ago or "Welcome to my life" by Simple Plan. Seriously, a thirty-something years old man sings about locking himself in his room and turning up the radio so loud that nobody can hear him screaming.

    Prison Break

Did they show the fact that Bellick lived with his mom last season ? It also said on Global that the wrtiers would kill off characters like flies this season, any guesses ? I think Tweener's gonna get caught for sure, Lincoln will probably eat several bullets (hurray !) and either T-Bag or Abruzzi....you just know they're gonna square off and it's gonna be a bloodbath.

The "fatalities" in each stage were great too. My favorite was probably gangsters shooting you down in Larcin's stage or being burned at the stake in Xavier's stage. Character-wise, Trident was my man everytime. Hell, just talking about it makes me want to go plug my Genesis back

    Kurt Angle released!

Wow. How bad the situation must have been so that WWE says "no more" to Angle. That's the guy who always pushed himself beyond his limits and WWE kept him anyway on the roster, although they didn't always approved. Makes you wonder if he's really a ticking time bomb, like the rumors said. Maybe the company didn't want to have another death on their hands, one which would be way more destructive for them than any other they had in the past. That being said, it's good that he will finally get some time off. Nobody can live this kind of lifestyle without having a break. He will come back someday to WWE when he gets eveything back on tracks. Doing TNA will do nothing for him. Even if he works only a few dates per month, he won't stay there for a long period, so it would be stupid for TNA to sign a guy which WWE obviously wants back as soon as he gets better.
  17. That's a cool poster, looks like old WCW posters of the past. And seeing Lovecraft's avatar makes me think that Vince's incest idea has been in his mind way before Steph was pregnant.

    Chris Masters

His gimmick is gone, so is the Unbreakble Masterlock. On the upper side, he gains mobility and can do much more now than press slams and torture racks. He needs to go from being Luger-like to being a normal wrestler. As for explaining all his weight loss......well, let's just say that his mirror broke but he still believes he has his monsterous shape.

Anyone got too many video game systems?

I keep my consoles and my games. You never know when you'll get nostalgic and want to play the games you grew up with. I have 7 seven consoles with three hooked to my TV. I bought my Gamecube and my XBox with each 15 or so games already included. When I was in school and had a part-time job, I could play maybe 4 days a week, not big gaming sessions though. Now that I have a full-time job, I have even less time. It takes maybe a month or a month and a half to complete a 25-30 hours game. I have maybe 20 games in my collection that I haven't even touched, with 5 or 6 RPGs. There's all the stuff that came within the last year or so that I want to play but I didn't bought yet. I'm set for at least a couple years, so I won't buy a new console anytime soon.
  20. I'd say guys like Sgt. Slaughter and Pat Patterson, obviously. Probably Superfly Snuka and the whole Samoan Family ( Afa, Sika, Rock...are they all related somehow ? ) Randy Sava........oh.

PS3 .VS. Wii .VS. Xbox 360?

I won't be buying a new console before one or two years. I still have a lot of games left untouched and, when the time will come to make a choice, there will be a drop in prices (hopefully). PS3 is way too expensive and only MSG 4 caught my eye. Oblivion sounds very interesting, but it's not worth buying a 360 only for this game. So I'll wait until there's more games out and I'll make a choice. If I have the time and money, I'll be buying all three. A question : is anyone a fan of the new "Bad asses in huge metallic armors, fighting in the near future" trend that took over the "Thugs from the 'hood" of last year ? It seems that half of next-gen game are using this theme.

    Howard Finkel

A minor detail I remember for the Ladder matches at WM XVI and XVII that I always found cool : Finkel always introduced the "lesser" member of a tag-team first. Like : - Christian and Edge. - D-Von, Buh Buh Ray : The Dudleys Boys - Mat and Jeff : The Hardy Boyz. Of course, you beat the the "And NEEEEEEEEW World Wrestling Federation Champion"
  23. John Cena suuuuuucks ! John Cena suuuuuucks ! This have to catch on, this is more imaginative than the "You suck" to Angle's music.

    Gaming Memories

Here are some more : - My dad generally hates video games. He came in my room when I was playing Goldeneye, nothing but the Facility and the Frigate stage, killing helpless scientists and hostages. I gave him the controller and we spent an entire evening just killing innocent people. I didn’t know the scientists would shoot back at me when I would play on hard, so that was cool. The only game he plays now is Grand Theft Auto, just doing random stuff. - When my brother bought his PS1, we spent days playing Resident Evil and Rebel Assault II. RAII sucked, but it had FMV, something we had never seen. I was actually scared of playing Resident Evil and, when I came to the part with the spiders, I paused the game and it took me a while before I played again. Man, I’m such a pussy. -In the –Strike series ( Desert, Jungle and Urban), you could get your chopper to blow up stuff like casinos in Vegas or monuments in Washington. It’s sad that the post-16 bits games sucked. -The first time I shattered a window in NHL ’94. Seeing melees in Ice Hockey or fighting in Blades of Steel. -There was a time where nobody I hang out with knew what the Konami Code was, so when we finished games like Contra or TMNT II with only three lives, we felt like kings. On multi-player TMNT games, we always fought over whose character would get the pizza. -I once rented Harvest Moon 64 because I couldn’t get my hands on the game I wanted. I didn’t think too much of the game at first but later, and I don't know how it happened, I was completely addicted to it and I wanted to finish the game within my renting time. I began playing in the afternoon and turned off my 64 at maybe 5 AM. That was my longest time ever playing a game and there’s no way I would ever do that again. ....Hooray for the virtual console on the Wii !

    Favorite Four Horsemen Variation

Growing up, I would say the version with Flair, Arn, Benoit and Malenko. They had a killer entrance theme and it's probably my top theme ever. I barely watched WCW at the time, because I only had access to WWF. I didn't know all the history behind Ric Flair, but when he made his return to Nitro, I knew this was something special. Of course, I got older and had access old footage, so I appreciate more the versions with Flair, Tully, the Andersons or Windham. What ever happened to the Horsemen DVD ? Has it been cancelled or it's sitting there with the Austin, Rock and Flair vol. 2 DVD ?
