I'm going to head down to Eugene on Saturday to tailgate before the game and see if I can't scalp a ticket. Most weeks it's not that hard to grab a couple seats for $5-$10.

He's in the mix. Given the BBWAA propensity for rewarding HR and RBI, he'll end up winning. On my ballot, I have David Wright, Chipper Jones, Chase Utley, Hanley Ramirez and Matt Holliday rated above him, but not by much. There is no clear cut choice. Prince is a slugging 1B, which is valuable, but totally one-dimensional. Other than the HRs, he doesn't offer much. The other candidates have better defensive value, on-base skills or baserunning than Prince.

Don't look now, but JD Drew has been absolutely killing the ball for over a month (oddly coinciding with the time his son had his body cast removed). The fan in me would love to see him succeed in the postseason and win some fans back.

Tough week for picks. The better team is on the road in most of these matchups.

Three weeks isn't much time to evaluate, but it sort of appears that Schaub is the better quarterback. Maybe he'd be upset over being stuck behind Vick? I don't really know.

I think most people really believed there was a tape. The WWE folder is not full of brain surgeons.

It's not like Steve Kerr is running around saying that they'd love to trade Marion. Most of the time these rumors are started by bored sportswriters. You can't have such a thin skin if you're going to be a professional athlete. Everyone knows that the Suns need to cut payroll and Marion is making the most money. Of course he'll surface in trade talks. Doesn't mean the Suns don't appreciate him.

CBright likes to get drunk and thinks I'm a good poster. That gets a double thumbs up.

Not a surprise. Remember that article (SI maybe?) last year where the reporter asked him if it's better to be the star of a bad team or the second option on a contender and he said he didn't know.

Where is the borderline for using the term "legend"
Cheech Tremendous replied to Boxer's topic in General Wrestling
Not trying to start an argument, but two of the three I mentioned that you replied about could classify as legends using your criteria. Raven was a multiple-time ECW World champion, and was involved in THE feud of '95, '96, and the first half of '97. While he was in ECW, they went from a small, cult following in Phildalephia and New York to being on Pay-Per-View. Killings, to a much lesser extent, was a primary focal point of TNA at its inception, and proved to be the company's first breakout start (predating AJ Styles' rise to dominant popularity by a few months), as well as, you know, being the first black man to hold the NWA World Heavyweight title. That alone will make him go down in record books, even if his career outside of the first 6 months of TNA's existence isn't worth shit. I understand your argument, but I don't agree with you. To me, ECW was a nice northeast indy promotion with a rabid fanbase and following, but overall just a bit player in the national wrestling scene. I don't consider the ECW title to be a "World" title and I don't think that were any "draws" in the company, at least in a national sense. I loved Raven and respect everything that he did, but I'm just not that loose with calling someone a legend. Killings won the NWA title when it meant absolutely nothing. It's like trying to argue that Dan Severn should be a legend. -

I wouldn't define Raven, Malenko or Killings as legends. For me, the wrestler has to have made a major impact in a national promotion. I think multiple world titles or main event feuds that drew money in addition to influencing the business in a major way. Since 1985 (when I started watching), I'd define the following as legends (not a complete list, btw): Hogan, Savage, Warrior, Andre, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, the Undertaker, Austin, the Rock, HHH, Flair, Goldberg, Steamboat and Sting. -
I was actually a long-time defender of Rex Grossman. I thought that with enough experience we'd start seeing more of the good Rex than the bad Rex. But after last night, I'm ready to say he just can't cut it as a starter for a team that is trying to contend. He's regressed to the point that he endangers his team's chance of winning when he is behind center. I fear that Griese must be even worse if they haven't gone to him yet, so it might be time to look at trade options.

2nd in the AL in slugging this year

I don't think that Oakland would be able to afford him. The Angels are the best fit, but I don't think the owner would entertain the idea of bringing him on board. After that, it's hard to imagine where he'll end up. Like last year, no one will want to be the first to start negotiations, but by the end of offseason someone will get desperate for his bat. Bonds has done a decent job of improving his image in the past 12 months. Now that the home run chase is over, I think most of the heat is off of him. He's dealt postively with the media, made the right remarks and been clean, at least by MLB standards. Someone will take a chance, and they should.

To expand on that, apparently being in the same picture together implies that Edge and Matt are BFF.

They were just a bad team when Isiah got there. Now they are a mismanaged mess that is the laughingstock of the league. Shady characters. Bad contracts. Putrid performances. Sloppy management. A couple of "name" players are good if you're running a fantasy team, but what they've put on the floor the past few years is a joke. And if this trial is any indication, the franchise is even worse off the court. But really, why would sports writers like Isiah? He was a fabulous player in his day, but he's proven to be rather aloof in his other ventures.
-
Does anyone? He's absolutely destroyed one of the best franchises in sports. He's not solely to blame, but he makes for an easy scapegoat.

WWE General Discussion - September 2007
Cheech Tremendous replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
You know that people can get over things, right? They agreed to work together months after it originally happened. A lot of time has passed. I'm sure they've found a way to get along. I screwed my best friend's girlfriend of five years when I was in college. It was a rough patch for six months or so, but we both eventually got over it. He even got back together with the girl. Our friendship was never quite the same but we still get along well enough to hang out and have a drink or whatever. -
The Rays' new jerseys are okay, better than the late 90s crap they had before. Sort of like the D'backs change this year. Not a classic, but miles better than the original. At least they'll look like a major league team now even if they can't play like one. The Royals jerseys are fantastic. Can't go wrong with powder blue. Well, unless you're the Blue Jays. Phillies and A's just seem like unnecessary alterations. What's the point of an alternate when it's so inferior to your original?
-
I assume that if they let him out of the contract it would be contingent on him not signing with another NBA team until whenever the original deal was set to expire. They'll never let him go to another team without compensation.

Kirilenko wants out of Utah so badly that he said he'll just forgo the remaining $63 million on his contract and return to Europe, if ownership will let him. Kirikilenko wants out
