That's what they've been doing on their other two one show only reunions, back in the 80s. I thought they used Phil Collins once. And I totally thought this was an unfounded rumor until I checked out the website. Holy shit! I never thought I'd see this happen in my lifetime. We are that much closer to an actual reunion tour.

WWE General Discussion - September 2007
Cheech Tremendous replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
I posted this stance in another thread, but given the snarky tone here it really deserves reiterating. Are people cutting Booker slack because he's a net favorite? Yes. However, is his stance understandable when obvious juicers like Batista are in no trouble, and the boss himself is jacked out of his mind? Yes. You don't punish people because they look like they might be on something. Batista is subject to same rules and policies as everyone else, and as far as we know, hasn't tested positive yet. As for McMahon, he's not on the payroll anymore as an active wrestler and is therefore not subject to testing. He's not pushing steroids on people. You can't assign blame to him because some net favorite got in trouble. -
2007: Most disastrous year in WWE history?
Cheech Tremendous replied to Dobbs 3K's topic in The WWE Folder
What about 1999? As a singular event, I think Owen Hart was a worse blow because it should never have happened. Yes, it was a terrible event that didn't need to happen, but it was still generally accepted as an accident. The Benoit murders and steroid links have led to the most disastrous press and coverage that the company has ever received. It might not hurt the company profit in the short run, but that's mostly because the WWE is one of the best run and most efficient business model around. However, these stories are so damning they could eventually lead to the downfall of professional wrestling in the United States. Think about that for a moment. -
I had never heard of Yuengling until this summer when I spent some time in DC. It was every where back there. Awful stuff too, IIRC.

Not necessarily a bad thing.

Did anyone mention Ice-T yet?

2007: Most disastrous year in WWE history?

HHH spent most of 2003 wrestling Scott Steiner, Kevin Nash and Goldberg. Jesus himself couldn't get a good match out of those guys. -
In hindsight, I don't know if it was that bad of a decision. The Marlins were bound to regress some this year anyways. It would have been the same if it was Gonzalez or Earl Weaver out there. A lot of the young players were over their head last year and that has shown with their (lack of) success in year two. One of the biggest complaints about Girardi was his handling of the young pitching staff. Look at what's happened this year. Josh Johnson and Anibal Sanchez lost their seasons due to injuries stemming from last year. Willis is probably injured. Scott Olsen is all over the map. A lot of the downturns experienced by this year's team might be traced back to the handling of last year's team. In the end, Girardi will probably be managing the Yankees next season. I doubt he's losing any sleep over it.

Ouch.

Glad I didn't drop the dough on those season tickets. Good luck with your recovery Bill Walton, I mean Greg Oden.

The Packers do have an elite defense. Well yeah I thought so, but I wasn't sure about the numbers so I hedged my bets on that. There is still a lot of youth and mistakes are going to happen, but the Packers should be a top 5 defense this year. Check what the guys at Pro Football Prospectus have to say on the matter. They are extremely high on the Packers D this year. It's the offense that is full of question marks.

Yesterday's Marlins-Nationals game drew 400 people. 400 people?!

Terry Ryan is stepping down as GM of the Minnesota Twins. I hope that they have a good replacement lined up becuase he's had a lot of success on a shoestring budget.

I've never seen a fanbase that has an inferiority complex and a superiority complex at the same time. I'm not part of the Patriots fanbase and I truly believe this. I get together with a group of people to watch football every week and I'd say the only team that is hated more than the Patriots is the Colts. I think a lot of people respect what they've done as an organization, but just don't care to see them in the spotlight anymore. That's just my take on it.
-
Really? I think there would have been far less coverage and outrage if it was some other team. Everyone is looking for a reason to hate the Patriots and discredit their championship run. Why would there be more outrage if some mediocre team was the one caught?
-
Jeremy Green was on ESPN Radio yesterday and not only did he say that he knows every team does this, but that he himself had to do it when he worked for the Vikings. Belichick and the Patriots got caught and they should be punished accordingly, but I don't see the need for outrage. The NFL has always been about pushing the absolute limits to get ahead.

Well, I screwed that one up.

Bob Wickman is now a D'back. I guess he changed his tune on appearing in non-save situations.

All good points Al, but the tightness of ownership permeates the entire organization. The baseball ops staff is the most under funded in the game and seen as a joke by other organizations. High picks or not, it's tough to build an organization when you have poor scouting, lousy player personnel and non-existent development programs. They also tend to underspend in the draft. A good top-ten pick doesn't hurt, but drafts are won and lost in the later rounds where good scouting and tough signs can stock an organization full of cheap talent.

MLB's bad day continues as SI.com is reporting that Troy Glaus received shipments of steroids from 2003 to 2004.
