Is there something wrong with Express?

I am a long time Simpsons fan but that trailer makes the movie look absolutely brutal. It totally emphasizes the crap that made the franchise start to fall in the first place.

Ten bucks says it's Mysterio.

If he would have continued to develop his personality and heel character he could have become a major star (and when I say major, I mean crossover appeal). I had a lot of friends who had given up on wrestling who were legit into this guy in late 2002. The face run really hurt him and the momentum he had built, but this guy was an absolute freak in the ring. He seemed to appeal to the same fanbase that liked Goldberg (i.e. legit athletes with freakish strength and ability). It's sad that he didn't stick around.

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
Cheech Tremendous replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
Does anyone else find it a bit ironic that Matt Hardy is defending the WWE and how clean this generation of wrestlers is now when his brother is one of the most notorious drug uses in the industry? Why not discuss how he was fired several years ago for being so screwed up that WWE wanted nothing to do with him? -

WWE was doing a good thing by keeping their mouths shut regarding this entire case but Kennedy and Hardy are screwing that up by going public with their opinions. Nobody should be saying anything at this point until all the information regarding Benoit and the Astin case is in. This is a near-billion dollar company that doesn't need to give the media or their detractors any ammunition. -
If I were the Sox, I'd want Ortiz to have the surgery now. I doubt 3-4 weeks would be sufficient healing time for a man of his size, but I'd rather deal with it now and have a 100% Papi in October than a 50% one. Besides they could just give those at-bats to Wily Mo to either showcase him for a trade or decide once and for all if he's ever going to be a productive member of this team. They could even trade for someone like Dan Johnson, if he is really available, and alternate him with Youks, Lowell and Ramirez in the DH role to get those guys some rest down the stretch. I just don't think a 10-game lead will wilt away because Ortiz takes the time to have surgery now.

Not true as I've said I never believed Ichiro had a chance of ending up in Boston either when those rumors started to swirl. I don't understand where your "rumors" come from though. I never heard a thing about Ichiro in Boston, or Oswalt for that matter. I read the Boston papers online every morning and post over at Sons of Sam Horn and I don't hear 1/10 of the things that you often reference in your posts.

Mark Henry's "Silverback" Gimmick/Nickname
Cheech Tremendous replied to zappafrank's topic in The WWE Folder
I can't wait for new gimmicks like "The Knuckledragger" Booker T and Water-Melon Eatin' Vis. How about a gimmick where Shelton can't swim? MVP has his wages garnished because he can't pay child support? You like those, too? After all, it's just pro wrestling. -

Oh, well it's on at 12:30 on the west coast. I can catch it on my lunch hour. ATH and PTI are stuck in the middle of the day for me. -

I'm not easily offended, but I do find the gimmick somewhat odd and kind of racist. I mean, you have one of the biggest, blackest guys on the roster essentially calling himself a gorilla. Talk about walking on thin ice with that one. -

The backlash against Mero, Debra, Blackman and the like is ridiculous. WWE has put a moratorium on their workers appearing on any of these programs. Who else is there to comment but these "former wrestlers"? Besides I am much more interested in the feelings of those who have nothing left to hide about the business instead of current guys who come off like they are towing the company line and protecting their own asses like Kennedy and Hardy. I don't care if Benoit's situation had zero to do with steroids and the drug problem in wrestling. It has at least brought these issues to the forefront and created an opportunity to finally clean up this sleazy industry. -
Baseball-Reference.com's database is down so I can't access his MVP votes. His stats say no. There's nothing there. Game of the night is likely Detroit-Seattle. That's at 10pm ET, so you can easily catch A's/Twins at 8pm. He received MVP votes in three different seasons, never finishing higher than eighth. Three All-Star appearances and nothing else of note. Only one of his comparable players (Enos Slaughter) is in the hall.

This has to be the least interesting free agent period in recent memory. When teams are fighting over Mo Williams and limping corpse of Jamaal Magloire you know things are slow. Heck, Steve Francis is considered a hot item now and the Blazers paid him $30 million just to go away.

Ricky Henderson was supposedly responsible for turning Jose Reyes, free swinger, into a walking OBP-machine. He's probably the hitting coach in name only. Most likely he'll be there to instruct Reyes, Milledge and the other young guys while HoJo handles the majority of instruction and tinkering.

Lance Storm had an interesting perspective on Outside the Lines today. He said that it's not really the industry's fault for the deaths and drug problems of the younger wrestlers. The addiction to painkillers, steroids and recreational drugs are not necessarily a by-product of the road and the industry. Instead, it's the users who use it as a convenient excuse to deflect blame from themselves. -
Franco is a nice story, but he has no shot of making the Hall of Fame. He didn't have the peak or the career numbers to justify inclusion. He was never a top player.

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released

Rey won't get released, he's a cornerstone to the courting of a demographic that still buys a ton of merchandise and has kept SD on the air for the most part. He's also a rampant steroid user with connections to both Guerrero and Benoit. At such a crucial time, it may not be wise to use him in a big spot. It might cause problems they don't want to deal with. -

Yes, I believe it is. I could really see him getting released over this whole thing to set a real example. -
Call me crazy, but I like the Soriano deal better. You're crazy. You know what insane deal from last year might end up being the best of all? Gil f'n Meche.

There's no way he will be playing for Boston. This was discussed earlier in the year on a NESN pregame show where ownership has asked certain guys if they would be comfortable having A-Rod in the clubhouse if that ever came to fruition. Evidently he wouldn't be welcomed with two of the major names against it being Ortiz and Tek. If your team Captain and your big basher/clubhouse guy don't want him then it aint happening. I guess a couple others didn't like the idea either but those were the only two names mentioned. Those opinions would change real quick if Boston ever got seriously close to signing him. Trust me.
