Not that I'm in agreement with the other poster, but I think it has been stated that the TODs are not exact because of outside circumstances. She does do a mean crossface I hear... -

It also raises the question of how Nancy invented a time machine to go into the future and kill her son. -
Clement and Jones are the only two prospects they have that are worth a damn. I'd hate to see them give up those guys but they are both blocked at the major league level. Perhaps they'd part with them to get Dontrelle.

If Ichiro's the new baseline for contracts to be signed this offseason, you better believe that A-Rod will command $25-$30 million per year this offseason. I know a certain team in Boston with a gaping hole at third and roughly $30 million in cash coming off the books.
-
Per ESPN: Very interesting news. My guess is that the Yankees are doing this now with full knowledge that A-Rod won't accept any sort of contract extension without testing the free agent market first. By leaking this information now, they get the rest of the year to prepare for the potential PR hit. The media will have a full half year to bag on A-Rod before he bails town. Buster Olney has already gone on record that Boras expects A-Rod to get 8 years, $240 million on the FA market. For the Yankees to reach this sort of money, they'd have to give a 5 year, $160 million extension on top of the $81 million still owed. That's $32 million a year for his age 35-40 seasons. I just don't see that happening, even with Steinbrenner's deep pockets.

Wrestling Deaths That Would (Might?) Get Mainstream Coverage?
Cheech Tremendous replied to zappafrank's topic in General Wrestling
Rock is a Hollywood movie star. He'd get a lot of coverage but little of it would relate to wrestling. Same thing with Angle who is widely known for his Olympic background. Hogan and Vince (well, maybe Austin) are the only wrestlers who'd get a degree of mainstream coverage. Sammartino and Flair had most of their success regionally and don't mean much outside of the wrestling community. -
Wrestlers that have been in ECW, WCW and WWE

I don't remember any of those four winning belts in all three companies. -
David Ortiz is set to have an MRI on his ailing knee sometime today. He's been playing through this injury most of the year and it's caused some hammy problems that have sapped his power. If he has to have surgery now, it will be an interesting couple of months for the Red Sox.

Think this one will stay on the menu? I heard those wings are killer. -
Considering Oklahoma just forfeited all of their 2005 wins, I kind of wish we had him around.

Billups got $46 million and he has a Finals MVP on his resume. Rashard got triple that for one All-Star appearance and a career average of 16.6 PPG. That's insane. Gerald Wallace, who is probably about Lewis' equal, is going to get $57 million. Rashard's new contract might be the worst in a league full of terrible deals.
-
That's just a disgusting amount of money for Rashard Lewis. He was the second best player on a team that just cracked 30 wins last year. I bet Orlando regrets this one before things are said and done.

Hebner's the best of all time.

Wrestling Deaths That Would (Might?) Get Mainstream Coverage?
Cheech Tremendous replied to zappafrank's topic in General Wrestling
Vince would get quite a bit of covereage I would think. He's the most recognizable name to the mainstream media. After that, either Hogan, Rock, Austin and Angle would get some coverage. The others would hardly make a blip on the mainstream's screen. -

Chiropractors are NOT doctors. However, he has a doctorate degree, so technically you can call him that. I laughed my ass off when I saw the Dr. tag in front of him name. And I think wrestling left HIM in the dust...not the other way around. Well being a chiropractor is a hell of a lot better job than a wrestler, so I doubt he's losing any sleep over it. -
According to espn, even Pujols is pissed at LaRussa for his "manager's decision" last night. Way to go there, chief. Blow the game and piss off your superstar player in the same evening.
-
Not using Pujols there was one of the most mind-boggling managerial moves I've seen. LaRussa is a genius my ass. Good game otherwise. Ichiro's hit was awesome.

Oswalt's not available. That came from an article in the Houston Chronicle. Some reporter down here was asking him hypothetically if he would waive his no-trade clause if the team wanted to trade him to say...The Red Sox or the Braves or somebody comprable. Oswalt said that he would never request a trade, but, if the team thought it was in their best interest to trade him, he would waive his no-trade clause. However, there is absolutely no way that Oswalt will ever be traded...ever. Never. There was some stink about it on the Astros' MLB board earlier today, but whoever posted about it didn't catch that the reporter was asking him hypothetically. I also read an article today that says that Drayton McClane doesn't want to trade his big players because he's still convinced the Astros can come back and win the division. ok, cause I was told that it would be both Lidge and Oswalt and my response was "If it happened then goodbye farm system". That would literally cost Ellsbury, Bucholz, Bowden, Lars Anderson, Hansen, and Lowrie. Oswalt is not available nor will be available. However, the Red Sox were inches away from acquiring Oswalt at the trade deadline last year. They were going to flip Andruw Jones for Oswalt but couldn't shake the Braves insisting on having Lester included in any deal.

Excellent booking idea
-
Yes, until the moment Jacoby Ellsbury is ready. Other than the fantastic marketing that could be done with DiceK, Oki and Ichiro together, I don't really know what place he'd have on this team. Centerfield is the last place that they need to go out and overpay for.

On a sidenote, I'm not sure that it's completely out of the question that Ichiro gets to 3,000 hits. He's going to have about 1,600 at the end of the season. If he can average 200 hits a season for the new five year contract, he'd be about 400 away entering his age 39 season. Obviously the chances aren't great that he can get it done, but I'm not going to count him out either.
-
Really? Why is he always in NY wearing that old Nets hat?
-
Andruw Jones should be a very happy man right about now. Well, he would be happy if he still knew how to hit. I've done a 180 on Ichiro in recent years. I thought that his game was based on his speed and that once he hit his 30s he'd decline rapidly. I also thought he'd be bad fit in center. Shows what I know sometimes. I usually go to a handful of Mariners games each year and I'm glad I'll continue to see him out there for the next few seasons.
