Cleveland Cavaliers vs San Antonio Spurs
Cheech Tremendous replied to USC Wuz Robbed!'s topic in Sports
It's an okay idea, but I'm all for keeping the things the way they are. The East will eventually get things turned around and we'll forget about this being a problem. The funniest thing about that article is that I think the west would have won all 8 of those first round matchups. Talk about a way to destroy the credibility of a conference even more than they are now. -
Mr. McMahon "dead" - Now for the "whodunit" angle.

I can't believe that anyone over the age of 8 with a half-funtioning brain would think this is real. -

Might be because Scott Keith made the same joke on his blog. Awesome. I think like Scott Keith. By the way, I went and checked his blog. He posted that after me. Scott Keith is stealing my material. -

I bet that Bob Costas and Snoop Dogg are glad that they took the time out of their busy day to cut an interview for WWE only for them to use it for a murder angle. -

So I'm considering watching Raw tonight, which would be the first WWE programming I've watched since One Night Stand 2005. -
Jon Lester was activated from the DL today and optioned to Pawtucket. He still had a rehab start remaining, which means that he is likely going to be down in the minors for a good chunk of this season. We probably won't see him up until the need absolutely arises as there would be no reason to burn an option otherwise. It's just nice to see that he has fully recovered. With Tavarez doing an admirable job as a 5th starter, there was no need to make a large roster shift. He'll get his chance in '08.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs San Antonio Spurs

I don't think it matters. It's not their fault that the east was down and they got some crappy teams in their finals appearances. The Lakers got complete jobbers from 2000-2002 and no one holds that against them. The goal is to be the best team in the league and they've accomplished that on multiple occassions. I think it does a disservice to the teams to arbitrarily decide the quality of play in the league from year to year. -

ESPN Player Ratings What a piece of garbage this thing is.

He's going to be Brett Favre?
-
Ripper makes a good point. Everyone thought the Dolphins got a steal last year when they added an injured Culpepper and he ended up being a bust. Now he's healthy (maybe) and everyone thinks he's cooked. I think Daunte will end up being a nice player for whatever team picks him up. He won't be a Pro Bowl caliber player anymore, but he could be an upgrade for a bunch of teams out there.
-
I'm sure it will be Shea Hillenbrand in a week once the Angels get around to DFAing him.
-
In the case of the former, it's mainly eliminating the year long holdouts, a welcome development in my view. The compensation picks are generally a good way for small-market teams to rebuild, and they just simplified the process a tad. I can just see some of the cheaper teams taking a guy they have no intention of signing just to bank a pick for the following year.
-
Angels take him at 118. EDIT: Beaten to it.
-
I don't like the fact that they got rid of draft and follows and I don't much care for compensatory picks for guys who don't sign. Why are they screwing with the draft in the first place?
-
Red Sox select Hunter Morris with their third round pick. Morris is a 6'4", 200 lb high school 3B. Has a ton of power, but is raw as hell. Epstein said the other day that they were going with ceiling guys this year now that the farm system is well-stocked. Seems like they are sticking to the plan as the last two picks (Dent and Morris) have all sorts of potential and nothing else. I hope they go after some tough signs later to help balance things.

Amanda Beard to pose nude! I'm there.

Baseball Prospectus says that Washington, San Diego and Texas are the early winners after the first/sandwich rounds. Looks like Matt Harvey could plummet down the board to the point that he'll end up going to UNC instead of signing.
-
Harvey's still there for there second pick... and they go SS. I'm confused.

Don't you know that in the days before televison, every game was a no hitter.
