    Alec Baldwin is angry!

Alec's Daughter: Can I have some money for the movies dad? Alec: That watch costs more than you car. I made $970,000 last year. How much you make? You see pal, that's who I am, and you're nothing. Nice guy? I don't give a shit. Good father? Fuck you! Go home and play with your kids. You wanna work here - close! You think this is abuse? You think this is abuse, you cocksucker? You can't take this, how can you take the abuse you get on a sit? You don't like it, leave.

    NBA Roundtable Discussion

Musselman is officially out in Sacramento. I wonder who they have in mind for a replacement. It wouldn't shock me to see Adelman return to the fold because Petrie is such a huge fan of his, but it's a longshot.

You've just described every spoiled rich kid in the world. Give someone everything when they haven't earned it and they'll never learn to appreciate it.

ESPN sucks, so do thread closers

I think that Doug Gottlieb is quickly becoming my least favorite personality on the network. I can handle hopeless stupidity (Steve Phillips) and I can put up with dickheads (Jay Mariotti). But if you're going to clueless AND a prick, that's just going too far.

I think Orton sucks as a wrestler, but he sounds like would be a hell of a lot of fun to hang out with.

Top Ten Draws In U.S. Wrestling

Superstar Graham wasn't a transitional champion. He was the most over guy in the company and I think sold out 100% of the Garden shows he headlined. His return run in the mid-80s drew like gangbusters as well even though he was a shell of his former self. He would've have gotten a bigger run but the WWF just didn't do heel champs in those days. World Class was the hottest territory in the US for a good 2-3 years behind the Von Erich-Freebirds feud. Kerry drew like 40,000+ to Texas Stadium for his title match with Flair. Friday night shows at the Sportatorium sold out every week and the Von Erichs were like rock stars, literally, in and around Texas. JYD was the biggest babyface in the world when he was headlining for Mid-South. They used to do shows at the Superdome with him on top. Michael Hayes got death threats while working with JYD after the blinding angle. I don't think any of us have access to enough information to make a top draws since 1970 list.

Top Ten Draws In U.S. Wrestling

Superstar Graham, Andre, Junkyard Dog, the Von Erichs? If you're going since the 1970s you've left off some big names.

    NBA Playoffs 2007: Round 1

The Spurs won the series 4-2, but it wasn't as close as you might think. San Antonio always has a habit of letting inferior teams steal a game or two instead of just going for the throat and sweeping. The only reason Dallas even made that WCF was because they got to play the Kings without Chris Webbber... and it sill took them seven games. They were good under Nelson, but never a threat to win anything because their defense was so wretched.

Top Ten Draws In U.S. Wrestling

In general the concept of a "draw" is misinterpreted or overstated. I don't want to imply that certain guys aren't actual draws, but it's such a squishy concept. The problem is there are no controls in place to measure one man's success against another. We can't book one Wrestlemania VI with Hogan v. Warrior and one with Hogan v. Perfect and measure who drew more. Even if we could, what drew? Was it Hogan, or was it the opponent he was matched up against? For instance, look at Hulk Hogan. He is considered the all-time draw in wrestling. But when he took a hiatus in 1988 business didn't drop one bit with Savage on top. In that era HTM's B and C shows drew as well as the A shows that were headlined by Hogan. Plus, Hulk was never able to draw in NWA strongholds even at the height of his popularity. What does that say about his drawing ability? What can we infer from this data? Subsequently Steve Austin was considered the savior of the WWF and the ultimate draw of the Attitude era. How come ratings, attendance and PPV buys went up after he left and Rock/HHH started headlining? Once again, no one want to question Austin as a draw but what do the numbers say? Lastly for the guy (NYR10) who made his "Top 10 All-Time Draws" list, that thing is seriously out of whack. Andre in the 70s and Flair in the 80s traveled the entire country and sold out dozens upon dozens or territories. There were just as many fans back then as there are now. They just happened to follow their product regionally at the arena instead of on tv like the current product. As far as Warrior Warrior goes, numbers went down with him on top and then back up after he lost the belt. That's a negative draw, my friend. Same with Shawn Michaels.

The same Joe Girardi that got himself booted after one year? The same Joe Girardi who blew out their best young pitcher's arm? The same Joe Girardi who the front office literally had to beg to get Willingham out from behind the plate? Look, I'm not going to argue that Girardi was a poor manager, but you have to realize that this stuff is highly subjective. There was tons of talent on last year's team and their success came together like a perfect storm. There's just no way of knowing what his influence was. In the same vein, it's very hard to pin losses to a manager. You said that Manuel cost the team 9 games last year. Did he directly cause those losses, or was he victim of circumstance? For instance, look at yesterday's Indians game. Wedge left Borowski in too long and the Yankees rallied from four down with two outs. Is it his fault that he left him in too long, or is the fault of the management for not giving him any other reliable relievers to go to? Managers too often get blamed for outcomes without giving consideration to how they got in that situation in the first place. If there were managers out there doing some cutting edge stuff, like trying a four or six-man rotation and getting great results, or ditching the closer for a Jamesian relief ace, then maybe I could see an argument. Perhaps they are especially adept at platooning players. But most skippers today manage their teams in the same rigid format with the same tired team structures. There's little opportunity to swing things one way or the other.

There's a better chance of the Mavs sweeping than there is of the series going 7 games.

Okay smart guy, how many wins is a good manager worth? Cite some examples of where good managerial prowess makes a decisive shift in a team's performance over the couse of the season.

The funniest thing about A-Rod's ridiculous start is that when he inevitably slows down or goes through a routine slump he'll get killed for piling up his stats in April when the games didn't really matter. By the way, I'm going to be in Washington DC next week for a business conference. I know the Nationals suck and all, but they are playing the Mets. Is it worth it to check out a game at their ballpark? I'll probably have some extra time to kill in between meetings and sight-seeing.

    NBA Playoffs 2007: Round 1

Warriors-Mavs is going to be the series that everyone jumps on by the weekend as the upset special. They'll see that the Warriors have won 5 of 6 against the Mavs and that there potent offense has been averagin 118 points a game down the stretch. They'll convince themselves that Don Nelson has an advantage over his old team. Then the first game will happen and everyone will remember that the Mavs are about a million times better than the Warriors.

But the Astros totally murdered his trade value by demoting him to middle relief. No team will give up players of real value to get him because if he continues to struggle they'll look like idiots. And Houston won't just give him away because they have to get something back for a guy that was maybe the best reliever in the NL two years ago. And I am happier than ever that the rumored Wily Mo for Lidge trade never went down.

Then who is the best candidate? You can't meander through the season with six starters, none of whom know their roles. They are auditioning these guys for a trade and it's going to be Lieber or Garcia that goes. They have to get them in the rotation and showcase their work coming off injury to get someone to bite. Myers to the bullpen makes sense not only from a logistics standpoint, but from the fact that he can also hold down some innings for a shaky bullpen. Is it a good idea to put your best starter in the bullpen? Probably not, but what other realistic choices do they have? It's not that trading Thome was the wrong move, it was that trading him for Aaron Rowand was a bad move. I know trade value was down on him at the time, but they still should have gotten some more major league talent for him. If you're going to trade Abreu and Thome you better not end up with Wes Helms and Shane Victorino holding down starting spots. Second, how could 50% of any baseball team's problems be the manager? The difference between a good and bad manager is probably a couple of wins at best. They just don't do that much that can swing a game one way or the other. This team's biggest problem is roster construction and a slow start from their big hitters.

    NBA - April 8-18

I've stated before that my man-love for the Red Sox does not extend to other east coast teams. I was born and raised on the west coast. Just like any kid who grew playing and loving basketball in the 90s, I adored Michael Jordan and by proxy, the Chicago Bulls. They are not my team, but I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the team and I was disappointed by yesterday's outcome. When you play the defending champion in the first round, you are the underdog. That's just the ways things break. You can't get so defensive about your team. You did the same thing when I said that the White Sox were only the 4th best team in the Central based on talent. It's just an observation from an outside observer, not a personal attack on you or your team.

Top Ten Draws In U.S. Wrestling

I don't think that there has been a legitimate draw in the company in quite some time. It's the brand and name recognition that draws over anything else. I think guys like Cena, HHH, Batista, Hogan and Taker can draw when given an interesting angle to work with, but I don't think there are many fans who buy tickets just to see them regardless of what they are doing.

For those of you who are quick to blame Manuel for all of Philly's problems, here's a different perspective on things. Frankly, I think it's right on the money.
