and the new Incredible Hulk is....

Not exactly, i think Marvel are pretending that "Hulk" didnt happen and there just starting from scratch. Hence why this one is called "The Incredible Hulk" Which is just going to confuse the crap out of the audience.

I'm not sure if this is a rhetorical question or not, but it's easy to convince someone as long as they have an open mind about the game. Once they get their head around the idea that the goal of baseball is to not get out, it's fairly easy. Eschewing the importance of OBP and SLG opens the entire world of statistical analysis.

    Box Office report 4/13-4/15

I don't know if it was the amount of advertising because I saw quite a few ads and posters for it as much as the content of the advertising. The movie was poorly promoted. I don't think there were many people outside of small niche audience that understood what the movie(s) was supposed to be. It just looked like a shitty movie in most of the ads with no explanation or background to what a grindhouse is or why we should care about it. Tarantino's involvement was also underplayed.

Punching a man in the face mutliple times is an unnatural, violent act. Sounds like you've been playing too many video games.

Comments which don't warrant a thread

Got over on his own merits? Are we talking about the year where he got to hang out with the most over heel in the company, cleanly beat 90% of the roster, soundly embarrass a number of wrestling legends and beat the piss out of Mick Foley for 3 or 4 months? That year? Yeah, he definitely got over on his own merits. It's really annoying when people act like Orton has been plagued by bad booking when he got to look like a million bucks for 2 or 3 years when he wasn't worth a shit in the ring or on the mic.

You'll have to give us a scouting report. I hate the Yankees with all of my heart, and I'm even giddy about the guy's potential.

JBL showed up sometime around 1995 or 1996 as well. Jerry Lawler has been there since 1993, although he's not really on the active roster.

    NBA Roundtable Discussion

I think it's a real stretch to compare Marvin Williams to Kevin Durant. They may have a similar style, but as freshman Williams barely cracked Carolina's rotation whereas Durant was easily the best player in the nation. Part of the equation may be potential, but the majority is what you do with it. Durant has all the makings of an elite player.

He's really borderline for me. He's right there with the numbers, but I feel that he is just short with his other accomplishments. The fact that he was replaced by his team on the way to a Super Bowl win really hurts his legacy, in my opinion. I wouldn't complain if he made it, but I wouldn't feel compelled to champion his cause either.

Am I the only one who finds it weird that he's cut all off negotiations for the next eighteen months? My mistake on the contract. I'll reiterate that if the Twins fall out of playoff contention this season, they should try to trade Santana. They have a 0% chance of resigning him if he goes to free agency. They don't have the $200 million+ that it is going to take to get him on a long-term dea. Teams would be willing to give up a hell of a lot of interesting stuff for a year and a half of Santana.

    The Invasion Angle

I would love to see that conversation between Vince and the heads of UPN when he informed them that he would like to rebrand their flagship show to that of another company that just went out of business with underperforming shows on basic cable. I'm sure that would have went over real well. I know it's fantasy booking and all, but you guys need to be realistic about their options.

I know that it's only been a week and a half, but it's abundantly clear that the Red Sox are going to have to upgrade their lineup somewhere if they want to compete this year. They just don't have any offense in the 6-9 spots. I'm not exactly sure what's out there to acquire, but Theo should be kicking tires before things get too desperate.

Johnny Damon has never hit for more than 24 HRs in a season... in all of his 12 seasons played. Why would he hit 30 now? He won't. It's a stupid thing to say. He just had a career year at age 32 and only hit 24 HRs. He probably won't even match that number, let alone reach 30. It's not atypical to see a player gain some power and patience later in their career, but I just don't think that's realistic for Damon. The Yankees, however, better hope that he can learn to hit like that because he's probably a little more than a year away from having to become a corner outfielder.

    The Old School questions thread

I'm not sure that the Hogan-Piper feud had enough heat left to carry Wrestlemania, at least not without a title change. Hogan's feuds always drew less and less as the program continued. Using Bundy in that spot was a sound decision. Plugging in large man to feud with Hogan hadn't really been overdone at this point in time; Hogan-Piper had.

    WWE announces 2007 DVDs

They tried to imply that the Black Scorpion was the Ulimate Warrior. As far as I know, when the angle started they had no specific wrestler in place to actually be the Black Scorpion. The Angel of Death was considered for the role (and even played Scorpion at house shows) but either backed out or the company realized he wasn't a big enough name to carry the angle.

I believe they stated that since Henry has already served a three-game suspension (2 by the league, one by the team) and hasn't had any incidents since, he was not going to be docked an entire year. Had he not served any time he would have likely gotten the full year. Tank Johnson is expected to get a full year suspension as well once he has served his jail time.

There is a 99% chance that the suspension is upheld. The commissioner is fully within his bounds to issue this suspension as it is clearly outlined in the CBA that it is within his power to do so. This is not the US legal system; the NFL does not have an innocent until proven guilty mentality. All they need is a preponderance of evidence that suggests he has broken the law, and 5 arrrests and 10 police questionings certainly qualifies. The NFL is a revenue-sharing league, which makes all players representatives of the organization as a whole. Conduct detrimental to the league is grounds for suspension as it could have a negative monetary effect felt league wide. The team, the owners and the players are all behind the suspension. On what grounds can they throw out the suspension?

    The Invasion Angle

The WWF paid about $2.5 million for the WCW name and tape library. Some of the wrestlers who have been mentioned (Goldberg, Flair, Steiner, etc.) had contracts that paid them more than that. McMahon and co. probably figured that the Invasion angle was going to make enough money anyways that bringing in the others would only cut into their profit (and going by buyrates for the Invasion, they were probably right). I do think that the angle was blown, but I find it hard to fault the company for the way things went down. They purchased WCW with the idea of running it as a separate brand. It was only after they couldn't secure television that they decided to run the angle and make some money off the WCW name. They didn't have the big name players under contract and they didn't have sufficient time to develop and introduce the 25 new characters they now had under contract. The WCW purchase was major news when it happened. You can't simply put them on ice for a year while you flesh out the booking, secure tv and get the big names under contract. All of the heat would have flamed out by then. Now the booking was very poor during the Invasion angle, but it wasn't like they were set up to succeed.
