They finished with a losing record. Their 3-6 skid down the stretch dropped them from 5th, where they might have won a series, to eighth where the got manhandled by Detroit. I think most people expected them to win 45+ games and be in contention in the east. They never really got the most out of their talent. As for me, I don't blame Stotts. I blame the absolutely awful green and red uniforms.

I know this is just fantasy booking and its for fun, but that entire event was sold on the triple main event of the battle royal, T/Piper and Hogan/Bundy. Your card doesn't really have a match that can draw, especially for a Wrestlemania. Hogan/Piper wouldn't have had the heat to carry a show unless they'd done a title change a few months before, and even then I'm suspect.

I didn't say you thought it was a good move. In general, it was thought of as a good move by the basketball media. Bad trades are the ones that look bad on paper when they happen and turn out even worse in the long run (like an Isiah trade).

No one thought that was a bad move when they made it. Toronto got killed by everybody at the time for trading big for small. As for Stotts, he didn't have a healthy team this year, but even with Redd in the lineup they underachieved. They underachieved last year as well. I don't see the point in firing a guy at this juncture in the season (unless they want to give Kystowiak the job outright right now), but Stotts can't really put the blame on anyone else.

He can't be sent to AAA without clearing waivers first, can he? Isn't he out of options? Sounds like his days as a Cub are over.

They are knowledgeable and informative. All to often however, their writing is arrogant and they come off as smarmy know-it-alls who can't believe the utter stupidity of the baseball world they cover. When they create a statistic, they assume its findings are 100% accurate even when the stats are suspect (i.e. their putting monetary value on wins and assigning that to player value). They can be a little snarky with their analysis, but I've sort of accepted it as their style. It makes for interesting writing. And with the exception of Joe Sheehan, none of the other columnists really act like know-it-alls. Sabermetricians as a whole have seemed to develop an attitude and it mostly stems from the baseball media being condescending towards their work. As for accepting their models and statistics as truth, it's the nature of the beast. Their website and book are sold on the predication that their proprietary information is the truth. I think they are becoming more accepting of the their faults, as there are numerous places in this year's book where they disagree wholeheartedly with PECOTA or out and out slam Davenport's defensive translations. The hiring of Kevin Goldstein to run the prospect side of things only reinforces the notion that their numbers can only take you so far.

Reported today that Theo is kicking the tires again on Brad Lidge and Scott Linebrink. I don't know what we have to swing a deal with either team, but apparently the hopes of finding a closer out of the approximately 37 washed-up and/or mediocre relievers they brought to camp isn't working. Theo, please, find someone who knows how to build a bullpen. It's not your strong suit.

It seems like 90% of people have this as their Final Four, including me. Because of that, I'm sure at least two of those teams will lose this weekend and screw up everybody's bracket.

I pulled this out of an article swiped from another site. It's not meant to prove you wrong, but open some discussion, especially in regards to Hughes. If his talent is as good as advertised, it might not do him any good to waste good years in the minors.

No way. If anything, II was probably a slight upgrade over the debut album.

I sort of question the move as well. He hasn't been useful as a starting back since 2003. He performed okay during McGahee's injury last year, but his only standout game came against Indy and we all know about their run defense last year. They sort of backed themselves into a corner with the whole McGahee situation and now they're stuck with an inferior back.

Why didn't they suspend him? That hit was just as bad as the Manu and Jaric shots.

He's done a decent enough job as head coach, as many predicted he would. The problem is he is still the worst GM in the league and the extension keeps him in that role. He hasn't been as bad this year, but between coaching and the ultimatum from Dolan that they wouldn't take on salary, he hasn't had the opportunity to screw things up anymore.

Isiah Thomas got a contract extension with the Knicks. I guess taking the team for horrendously wretched to surprisingly mediocure was enough of an improvement for Mr. Dolan. I bet Knicks fans are pleased.
