Brutal. Its true though. What is the Raiders reasoning for not drafting Johnson #1 overall. He seems clearly the most talented player in the draft at this point and he definitely fills a need for them on and off the field. I'm just curious why it has never been considered when it seems on paper to be such an obvious pick for them to make. They have plenty of capable receivers. Johnson wouldn't help them at all in that regard. They need to fix the offense first before worrying about skill position upgrades. Their problem was schemes and coaching, not the talent.

I bet they win one or two games. The pitching on that Astros team is good enough to neutralize the Yankees offense at least once. As great as they were, the '27 Yankees are slightly overrated in the all-time great teams debate.
-
You think they'd be able to get a little more than that for McGahee. He has the skill set to be a top 10 back if he ever gets behind a decent offensive line. Third round picks are nice, but you are usually picking up depth at that point, not impact players.

I can't even crack the top 64 posters at TSM? For fuck's sake, why don't I just kill myself?

Those unis are so hideous. What was Nike thinking?

He's probably referring to Joey Porter, not Jerry.

I'm curious to read it myself, but that sounds like a bold statement to make about a team that's seventh in win percentage over the last decade. I've only read it once through so I don't remember the exact tone. I didn't mean to imply that it was a historical perspective on the team. They just reiterated that they were an 82 win team last year and deserved to be an 82 win team. They fooled themselves into thinking they were better than they were because of the weak division they played in and the offseason moves of the past two offseasons reflected a "go for it now" mentality when they could have spread the money around more efficiently to rebuild the team around Berkman and Oswalt.

At least my "Free Ron Artest" shirt becomes relevant again.

Viva needs to stay away from BP 2007. I think they call the Astros a mediocre team in a mediocre division that makes mediocre moves to perpetuate their mediocrity, or something to that effect.

When one program clearly creates a new star

Jericho's reign would have been remembered a little better had it not ended on such a whimper. The timing was poor because of the arrival of the NWO and the whole fiasco with Stephanie, HHH and the dog just killed any momentum he had dead. The reign started okay with the unification and the wins of Rock and Austin in consecutive months. He really needed to retain at Mania 18, though. -
Welcome to the big leagues, Mr. Igawa.

Benoit went over everyone for about 6 months straight. He beat HHH at Mania, made Shawn submit in Canada, won the tag titles, etc. His title reign was booked perfectfully for him. -
According to John Hollinger's rankings, the Spurs are the best team in the NBA right now. They don't have the sexy win streaks that the Suns and Mavs have had, but they've beaten the shit out of a lot of really good teams. I wouldn't discount them at all, especially come playoff time. Who would have a shot against them in the first round? Don't say the Lakers.

Yeah I saw that. I think we can immediately toss that article out for its worthlessness. I understand that under their criteria he was the best, but to that I say they were looking at the wrong things.

GZA is by far the best of the group, with Raekwon and Ghostface fighting for second.

The Austin-Tyson confrontation made the front page of my local newspaper's sports section when it happened. I can't recall any other time when wrestling was even mentioned in the paper, except maybe the Rodman-Malone match in WCW.

In that case, we can expect Michael Cole to get put in around 2010 for being the lead announcer on Smackdown. Probably.
-
He has been the main announcer on their flagship programming for like 15 years now. That'd probably make him a Hall of Famer regardless of any in-ring accomplishments.

StatMongers. Bring it, bitches.

They have total logjam of main eventers right now. Letting these guys headline their own promotions during the year would be a smart way to keep them busy. Bringing them back for a supershow once or twice a year would keep them fresh and present interesting match-ups. It could actually be a boon to the creative team to flesh out the rosters a bit and let the big talent travel around. Worked great during the territory days.

They were in the main event of No Way Out 2002. Triple H went over to establish himself as a top contender before Austin won the belt.
-
Sort of. They wanted to avoid the inevitable HHH-Austin match right after Mania and save it for Summerslam or Mania 18. The Two Man Power Trip was established to keep HHH in the spotlight as a heel and build heat for an eventual showdown. It was a bad move though to put things off. Austin needed a foil after Rock left and HHH was perfect for the role. Too bad they went with Kane and Taker, who killed the company's momentum dead within one month.

With the exception of DVDs, international touring is the money maker for the WWE these days. They probably figured that it would be more sensible to establish overseas companies than it would be taking the roster over there every month. For everyone saying they shouldn't do this because they can't run three brands isn't paying close enough attention. Yes, the quality of the programs is down and certain revenue streams have dried up, but this company is still run extremely well and they make money hand over fist. Expansion into foreign markets is a savvy move.

In hindsight, I've grown to love this moment and appreciate how special it was, but when it happened I hated it. The last thing I wanted to see at that time was 50-year-old non-wrestler main eventing against their new babyface champ. I though Nitro was going to crush it. Little did I know this would be the moment taht completely turned the tides in favor of Raw, permanently.

I think they need to win the division. The league as a whole is going to be a lot better this year and there is going to be a dogfight in the east with Philly, New York and Atlanta. One of those teams will probably end up as the Wild Card.
