Will I ever be able to find of these? I've been looking for weeks with no luck.

I hope so. The best thing he could do in this merger is get those two douchebags thrown off the air ASAP. I don't think Stern would care one way or the other. He already brought Bubba the Love Sponge to his station and I don't think he's threatened in any way by O&A. When they announced the deal that would put them back on terrestial radio he knocked it, arguing that their product could actually bring subscriptions to XM. In the satellite world, I don't think he considers anyone else competition, especially when they will be working for the same parent company.

It counts your WARP over the life of the contract, so it would definitely include the Yankees stint.

The ten worst contracts in baseball history, using a formula created by Baseball Prospectus. No real surprises here if you follow baseball, but interesting to see how awful some of these turned out to be. Just for clarification, MORP is how much the player should have earned based on his on the field performance. BADr measures the difference in cost and value, per year, over the life of the contract. Mo Vaughn, for instance, cost almost $15 million more than a comparable player for every year of that contract.

Besides, they're too busy in the kitchen anyways.
-
Yeah, because nothing crazy ever happens in a short series. Wait, you say who won the World Series last year? The Cardinals?
-
Thanks, Mole, but I think we've already run Hardcorehell out of town. We don't play nice with newbs, do we?

Even though he's not the talent that Kidd is, that would be an easier deal for Lakers fans to stomach. Gasol is a young, All-Star caliber big man. It would definitely soften the blow if Bynum ever became something special.

Not just a pitching prospect. Homer Bailey might be the best pitching prospect in the game.
-
That's awesome. Good for the Maloofs.

When do we want to start doing predictions? I know Spring Training just started, but I'm already tired of the Jeter-ARod and Barry Bonds stories. I need something else to talk about.

I have a couple of write-ins: Feud: La Parka Match: La Parka and best reign... um, La Parka?

Even if Norv screws everything up (which I fully expect him to do), the worst they would probably end up is 9-7. There is far too much talent there to go anything less than .500, even with poor coaching. I think they'll probably end up with a playoff spot and a quick exit. Things will get worse in the following seasons. It's too simple to say that keeping the same systems in place will keep the team successful. You're not looking at the big picture. Norv Turner has failed everywhere as a head coach. He can't communicate with players and he can't delegate. Forcing him into a head coaching position lessens his ability to do the one thing he's good at... running an offense. Listen to the players who've played for him and you'll understand why he probably won't work.

Hey White Sox fans, apparently Ozzie Guillen thought that the failure of last year's team was directly tied to their lack of bunting. He has gone into spring training recommitted to the idea of small ball (and Darin Erstad). Hey Ozzie, want to know why you weren't as good last year? Your pitching sucked. The end.

Baseballl Prospectus has released Kevin Goldstein's Top 100 Prospect rankings (check their site or book for more info). I'll be interested to see how these stack up against PECOTA's top 100. I don't think the book is shipping for another week or so though, so the best we have is a generic list. Here ya go:

No thanks. However, I still think that a deal will get done. The Nets are trading from a position of "have-to", or Kidd loses more value, and that essentially leaves them with getting even less in a deal during the offseason. I don't think the Nets have to trade Kidd at all. I think Rod Thorn (who is a very good GM) knows that they aren't competitive this year, but it isn't time to blow it up either. He can offer Kidd and Carter to see what the market is knowing that they still have really good value. The Nets are 0-7 in games decied by two points or less. If that was turned around they'd be in thick of the Eastern Conference race. This team is not as bad as one might think. If you're the Lakers, I think you make the deal even if it costs you Bynum. He's still many years away from being the franchise center they hope he becomes. Adding Kidd gives them a legitimate shot of winning the title now. I don't see how you can pass that opportunity up. Things change over time. Go with what you know today. The general rule for all NBA trades has always been the team getting the better player wins the trade. The Lakers are getting one of the five best PGs ever.

Every day this fails to happen lends more and more support to THAT rumor.
-
Are you sure you heard that exactly right? I heard Bucher this morning and he said that the Lakers would have to involve Magloire's contract to make a deal work, but I've since heard that the Nets have zero interest in acquiring him. I think both sides want to make the deal, they just don't have the pieces to make it work. The biggest downside of the salary cap era in the NBA is the restrictions it places on trades. It's too hard to make a deal like this work out with the money involved.

Between the two companies they have more than 14 million subscribers and most new cars come satellite ready. I think they are already past the point of being a niche. Spending $12.95 for a premium radio service doesn't seem that far-fetched when you consider what people spend on cable and satellite tv these days. I also think that reports of them "losing" money were grossly overstated. There were huge start-up costs and capital investments that took place to establish these companies. I think they definitely make enough money to cover their current operating expenses. Why are you so down on satellite radio? I haven't heard a single complaint from anyone who has it.

I had a dream that I banged Leena, or at least a girl that looks similar to the one that appears in Leena's profile. I'd like to think I'm above fantasizing about internet chicks that frequent wrestling messageboards but who the hell knows what's going on in that brain of mine. I guess I needed some fresh material.

This probably could go somewhere else, but XM and Sirius have announced plans to merge their companies. Although they will have to fight with the government for the next year or so about anti-trust laws, maybe I'll be able to get some baseball by the 2008 season.

He doesn't have any thumbs.

It's funny that people are arguing over Perfect getting into the Hall of Fame. Vince's limo driver is in the Hall, for fuck's sake. Anyone can go in.
-
Interesting. Maybe if they put a good enough staff around Norv he won't be able to screw it up.
-
You sure about that? You do realize that Tom Glavine can only pitch every five days right?
