I like how he seems to be implying that Pat Burrell would be as good as Joe Dimaggio if he just stopped striking out so much. Where do you even get the inspiration for an article like that?
-
That was a truly hideous article. How does shit like that even get published?
-
It was ridiculous.

Ask the Oakland Raiders how that worked out for them.

Cheech Tremendous replied to The Decemberists's topic in General Wrestling
I personally never understood the connection between MMA and pro wrestling either, and it's the main reason that I stopped subscribing to WON. It's not that I have anything against MMA or those who compare it to wrestling, I just don't understand how you compare a ridiculous over-the-top entertainment product like WWE to a organization that presents fights between real trained fighters. -
0 TDs is handling the defence? Exactly. The Colts couldn't do shit against the Ravens' D. It was the Ravens inept offense that cost them that game. The Bears offense is considerably better than Baltimore's. I think that Indianapolis will probably win this game, but Chicago has the advantage with coaching, defense and special teams. It won't be a walk in the park for Indy.

Two things bothering me today: 1- The Colts still have to win the damned Super Bowl. I think this point has escaped all the suits at ESPN. I know it's the golden boy against history's greatest monster Rex Grossman, but I don't think this is the slam dunk Colts victory that they are making it out to be. 2- Bill Parcells was a great coach and is leaving a tremendous legacy, but he was really mediocre during his Dallas run. And I really doubt this is his last coaching job. This whole thing screams resignation and not retirement.

Just wanted to point something out from Hollinger's chat this morning regarding the Phoenix Suns and defense. A lot of people want to say that Phoenix has a poor defense when it's actually pretty good. It just looks bad because they play at such a faster pace than most teams, and therefore give up boatloads of points.

Got this from Baseball Prospectus. We might be in for a very interesting year.

I was in Vegas roughly ten minutes before my buddy's uncle ordered us up a pitcher of margaritas. The rest of the weekend is somewhat blurry, but I assume that I had fun.

The key to a Colts victory will be starting strong. If they are playing with a lead, I don't think the Patriots have enough explosiveness to come back. However, if the Patriots start strong, Peyton will start forcing the ball and looking for the big play. The second he does that, they are dead in the water. The Saints better hope that the ineffective Rex Grossman shows up on Sunday because I don't think they have enough to win otherwise. The Bears are susceptible to the long play, which plays into Brees' strengths. But if we get some bad Chicago weather, the Saints offense will be neutralized. Bush/McCallister are awesome, but I think the Bears still have enough in the tank defensively to keep those guys from taking over the game.

Most players have the same thing on their profile card.

Ok CW, explain that one please.

He's also one of the premier defensive right fielders in the game. But he refused to sign with Philly and he's had a couple of freak injuries, so he must be a lousy bum. Don't forget that he's signed(?) with the Red Sox, the goddamn most evil team since the motherfucking Yankees! Oh yeah and he goes home to his family every night instead of drinking like a madman and causing ruckus with the boys of summer. Not to mention he treats baseball like a job instead of the game we all loved and adored as children. What a jerk!

My memory might be a little foggy because I wasn't watching the product then, but wasn't "Eugene" Nick Dinsmore's idea?

Bam Bam always appears at the top of my list for guys who deserved a World title reign but never got one. RIP.

There was a poll I saw on ESPNNews this afternoon posing the question "What is the most likely Super Bowl matchup?" Results were something like Colts v Saints 45%, Pats v Saints 35% and each of the Bears choices like 10%. Is this for real? Does 80% of America actually think the Saints are going to beat the Bears? I know it's a nice story and all and that they definitely have the talent to win, but how are the Bears NOT the favorites to win this game? They were much better than the Saints all year, and are now playing at home against a dome team in January. What am I missing?

Awesome. Glad to see the JD Drew Hate Club hasn't lost any of its vehemence or venom in these dreary winter months. I hear he hasn't had time to sign the contract because he's been busy killing puppies.
-
Wily Mo is still behind JD Drew on the depth chart last time I checked (well, if they ever get the deal signed).
-
I heard on ESPN Radio this morning that the Cleveland Indians signed Trot Nixon to a one year, $3 million deal. That could be a decent low risk signing for them. He at least gets on base at a decent clip.

Yes, I really do like Presence. I argued for it in the ITTOD thread we had a couple months back and got ridiculed by everyone. I know while I'm listening to it that it's not that "good", at least compared to the rest of their catalogue, yet I absolutely love it and probably listen to it the most out of all the albums. Maybe I'm blinded by my sheer love of "Achilles Last Stand", or perhaps I just enjoy hearing songs that haven't been beaten to death by rock radio.

Their best song. I think I just threw up in my mouth. Anyways, if I was to rank the albums by my enjoyment while listening to them and not the overall quality, it would go something like this: III, Presence, Physical Graffiti, II, Houses of the Holy, IV, I, In Throught the Out Door.
