To expand on naiwf's post a little, Isiah's entire reign has been filled with moves like this. You open the paper, see what happened, and justify that it seemed like the right move on that day. Did they need Jalen Rose? Not really, so no harm in cutting him right? The thing is these moves don't happen in a vaccuum. They paid for a half a season of Jalen last year, plus this year's salary. When you factor in the luxury tax, they paid $50 million for half a season of a washed-up player they didn't need. They were a go nowhere team and could have used those dollars and minutes in developing some younger talent.

Ah, I missed basketball season. There's nothing better than seeing Isiah do something crazy and then having CW on here within minutes to defend it.

I thought the plan was to do Big Show v. Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania next year. Is that plan out the window now, or would he maybe work one last match after his contract is out?

Did you guys hear that David Eckstein is only 5'7"? Who knew?
-
What the hell does that even mean? I could never figure that one out. It's from Dr. Seuss.

It's a good thing they've drafted two other centers who have no business playing in the NBA either or they'd be in a lot of trouble.

I don't know the background of Delgado requesting a trade, but doesn't he dislike Omar Minaya and the Mets organization? I remember two years ago when he was a free agent he voiced his displeasure over the way he was treated during negotiations and that he would never sign there.

Don't really feel like arguing your whole post because we obviously disagree, but I did find it interesting that you cited Football Outsiders and DPAR in your argument against Tiki. In this year's addition of the book that they publish each year, Football Prospectus, they argue that Tiki is a sure thing as a HOFer and that he is one of the best backs ever.

It'd be hard to predict a sweep no matter who's playing, but I can't see the Cardinals putting up much of a fight unless the Tigers go cold and the Cards catch every break imaginable. The Tigers have a superior lineup, defensive configuration, starting rotation and bullpen. That'll be hard to overcome, no matter how crazy the baseball playoffs can get.

Here's a little something that has slipped under the radar with all the playoff talk. The new Collective Bargaining Agreement is expected to be ratified this weekend. It's been rumored that the new CBA will eliminate draft pick compensation for free agents. That could potentially have a huge impact this winter as there will an increased number of middle of the road players that won't be offered arbitration. It should also change the dynamic of the trade market, especialy at the deadline because teams that can't resign their FAs have no reason to let their guys walk.

Eight teams make the playoffs, and two of those get to the World Series. Who cares how hard it is to predict sports? You would think that at least one out of 19 freaking analysts could have pickes at least one of these teams. There was only who even picked either of them to make it to the LCS.

When has it ever been said that he went to community college? *Generally* to get into business school, you need a 4-year college degree first.
-
This is Omar Minaya we're talking about here. It's not out of the realm of possibility. Hell, I bet there's an outside shot that Milledge/Heilman could get it done. You don't think the Mets would consider that?
-
Since I always like to make a point about how much I hate baseball analysts, here's a nice litte tidbit. Not one of ESPN's so-called baseball experts picked either the Cards or Tigers to make it to the World Series.
-
So now that the Mets came up short on the big stage, can Theo talk Omar Minaya into taking Manny Ramirez? A combo of Milledge/Heilman/Pelfrey would certainly get it done

There's probably not a day that goes by when I don't hear about Aaron Boone. Bucky Dent, Bill Buckner, Aaron Boone...

Good for him. Vince is a scumbag. Yes, because we all know that assualting your jerk boss because you weren't any good at your job is a reasonable thing to do.
-
Yeah, the only problem is that they seem to have no story arc for Ryan's character. He is in business school at night, but was in college in a frat? Minor nitpicking I know, but that's my only complaint. What's weird about that? Maybe I'm missing something.

I saw that same picture in an article about Axl's birthday party no more than a couple of days ago. I wouldn't be so quick to call it a fake.
-
But I think it all depends on the quality of the album. Jackson had a lot of hype for his album, but when it came out it wasn't particularly that good, and it felt as if the music industry had passed him by. That's entirely plausible with Axl, but we don't really know. It seems that there is much more buzz and excitement around this project, but that doesn't mean it will have legs.

Cpl. Kirschner was essentially a Sgt. Slaughter rip-off that they brought in after Slaughter left. He couldn't wrestle worth a damn and didn't get over at all. Vince let him go, citing that his work was subpar, and he beat the shit out of him. He was blackballed from working in the United States again, hence his move to Japan and adoption of the Leatherface gimmick.

exactly. Sometimes I need to be reminded why I stay out of the music folder. Thanks.

If that's a joke, it's funny. Where's Ted Kennedy? -= Mike At the bar? Drowning hookers?

How many albums did Velvet Revolver sell? I'd bet the new G n R doubles it. It won't live up to the hype, but no album would after fifteen years. I'm just glad to see that Axl has his act together, the new band sounds good, their touring and Chinese Democracy is finally coming out. Anything else would just be gravy.

This made me laugh. I wouldn't hold you breath, Dusty. Besides, the A's have a bunch of idiots who clog up the bases. That's no way to win a ballgame. Sadly, I'm sure some team will give him a managerial job in the near future. The old guard is still too entrenched to push some of these fossils out of the game.
