Well, let's just say I'm not that sad to see him go, and leave it at that.

I think I've been misunderstood. My question isn't so much regarding Heilman starting tonight, but why they have put themselves in the position to start drek like Perez and Oliver when they have a great in-house option right there. He should have been in the rotation a long time ago.

MTV is starting a wrestling promotion
Cheech Tremendous replied to GreatWhiteNope's topic in General Wrestling
I don't think that MTV is looking to tap into the traditional wrestling audience with this project. It's just another crazy show to throw out to their teen audience. It won't matter if spoilers get out because this show will be about presentation and atmosphere, or at least that's how it looks going in. -
It's been known for a while that Umaga v. Cena was the plan for their fall title program. Can't see how this info warrants its own thread.

That's a red herring al, and you know it. It was 2003 when he was last getting regular work as a starter (his age 24 season). If you look at his peripheral numbers the past two years, he's almost become a completely different pitcher. I can't imagine that all of that was due to a switch to the bullpen. He seems to have #3/#4 starter stuff to me. Sure he hasn't started since the middle of last season, but that's no reason to discout his ability if put in that position. Back to the Wagner front, I think there's more going on than a lack of "clutch" ability. Nobody was touching that fastball last night (even if he was only hitting 93), but they kept pounding the slider. Why did they keep going back to it? Is there a chance they were trying to show something different in case he was needed in game 7? Also, is there something to be said for lack of work that Wagner has been getting in the postseason? Could that be affecting the command of his breaking pitches?

Actually he has plenty of reason to bitch. He knows he's smarter than any of the buffoons working there, but he has to bite his tongue because he's the low man. He gets disrespected by being called "temp" and asked to the most inane jobs for Michael. Deep down he wants something better and knows he will someday but he has to put up with it while he's in business school paying his dues. I know what it's like to be in that sort of situation.

I still can't figure out why Oliver Perez and Darren Oliver are considered better options than Aaron Heilman.

No, I understand that it is real. It just seems like it should be a fake story. It just seems implausible that it could twenty years before anyone recognized the Cubs batting glove.

That's weird. It just seems like a bullshit story to me.

Way to put ECW over. They win one match?

By the end of the year, the only players with more yards from scrimmage than Tiki Barber will be: Jerry Rice, Emmit Smith, Walter Payton, Marshall Faulk, Barry Sanders, Marcus Allen, Curtis Martin, Thurman Thomas and Tony Dorsett. That's it, in the history of the NFL. That's elite company. The thing that kills Tiki (and it hurts current guys like Brian Westbrook as well) is that they are not pure, up the middle running backs. Their pass-catching ability is really underappreciated. They don't get the 100 yards and rushing touchdown game, which seems to be the benchmark for RBs. Tiki had one of the best seasons ever last year, and no one talks about it.

I don't know why, but this may be the funniest post I've read in months. Thank you, Felonies! It would almost be sig-worthy, you know, if I did that sort of thing.

It's interesting that someone would praise Lo Duca and damn Wagner's performance in the same post without even mentioning that it was Lo Duca's pitch calling that damn near cost them the game in the 9th. Funny how some people see what they want to see.

Ladies and gentleman, I think we can say that Billy Wagner cannot pitch in these type of situations. He's just not clutch ... or maybe it's because it's not a save situation ... or was he pitching to the score? .... it was probably just [insert wild, old school baseball cliche here]

I'm guessing Al was making a joke about the WCW title and how the announcers would claim that it had existed since the days of Abe Lincoln.

He's been in the league for ten years, and has been arguably the best in the game for the past 5. That's quite a bit of longevity for a running back.

Reason #1 why Vince McMahon will be buried in his grave before we ever see the WWE in HD.

John Hollinger has his PER projections for the 06-07 season up on espn.com. Sadly, this is one of those stats that I don't understand real well, but it's a intresting read nonetheless.

I'm sure whoever typed that up was basically of the opinion that any professional wrestling=WWE. His total time in WCW/WWE was basically about 9 years.

mlb.com is conducting a vote for the "All-Clutch Team." That's beyond ridiculous. I'm not even providing the link. With all the A-Rod to wherever talk, don't forget that Manny is once again going to be on the market. I've heard some rumblings about Manny to LAD for JD Drew (obviously with other parts going both ways). Can anyone with a buzz on LA tell me if this is even reasonable or not? Are they interested in Manny? Would they move Drew?

They should resign Kanyon and push him based on his real life feelings. He'd be great as a top heel that keeps getting what he wants because he holds the threat of a discrimination lawsuit over everybody.

Isiah is losing it. Now he's attacking Greg Anthony? He's going to be lucky if he makes it to Christmas at this rate. Where does that rant go on the unintentional comedy scale? I think it's nearing a perfect 100.

The 2004 ALCS was not an upset. It was a historic comeback, but the Red Sox had the better team that year, and were extremely hot coming down the stretch. We can argue 97 wins versus 83 wins all day, but the fact is the talent gap between these teams isn't that large. The Mets without Pedro and El Duque have a very subpar pitching staff. They may have the better bullpen on paper, but that advantage quickly disappears when you start taxing your pen because you don't have starters that can get you 6 or 7 quality innings. The Mets are probably the superior team still because of their hitting, but not enough to give them a large advantage.

Interesting discussion there between Ric and Kanyon. I don't really know what happened, but Kanyon was good in the ring and on the mic. I would say he has a good case, except for the fact that they've done less with more talented people in the past. Funny that Howard didn't know who Ric Flair was though.
