Except that it happend roughly 6 months before Russo joined the company.

But you don't want to run the risk of injuring yourself in the process and blowing the chance at $80 million. The Cavs are in okay shape for the foreseeable future. The only teams that would have a chance to sign him in 2008 are those with massive cap room, and as we've seen in recent years teams with that sort of cap room aren't that close to a championship. In the event he signs and Cleveland doesn't attempt to put a winning franchise around him, he'll simply have his agent request a trade.
-
I'm positive that he won't sign it, at least until the end of next year, if at all. That's like the third time in this thread that you've mentioned he won't sign it. Do you have any justification or reasoning? Why would he turn down a max offer to play for peanuts the next two years before going to the free agent market and getting significantly less money than Cleveland is offering? It doesn't make any sense.

Tyson Chandler isn't much of a player, but if you look at what average post players have been getting in recent years (Dampier, Dalembert, Nene, Foyle, etc.), he can't really be considered overpaid. He'll fit in nice enough in NO and provide some young athleticism. Brown to the Bulls makes the Wallace signing easier to stomach, and gives the team some flexibility come next summer. I'm not sure what the future holds for JR Smith, but I hope its more like the end of his rookie season instead of what we saw last year.

They aren't really in cap trouble long-term, but they don't have anything other than the mid-level this summer. Cleveland's problem was having a lot of money last year and trying to spend it all at once to put a winning team around Lebron. They divided up the money between Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Larry Hughes, Damon Jones and Donyell Marshall and none of them really worked out how they expected. No one was really hating on those deals at the time (except maybe Hughes, who didn't really fit their system), so I wouldn't really call it inept. They are a top 4 team in the East... that's not bad.

Where did you hear this bit of 'news' from? That was a debunked Scott Keith rumor.

Or to translate, we will job their asses out before telling them to hit the unemployment line. -

I can see it now. Johhny Ace: What should we do with Sabu? McMahon: Tell Sabu to fuck Sabu. -
This is why I could never be an NBA GM. I'd work really hard to get the team under the cap and then I'd get depressed when I realized that I would have to spend $13 mil on Ben Wallace or $10 mil on Nene freakin Hilario. BTW, the Bulls should not spend that money on Ben Wallace unless they have a deal in place for Chandler. They do not need another post player with no offensive game, especially one 10 years older than every other guy on the team.

You don't remember seeing this guy all over the TV the last two years for 3 weeks straight? Yeah I remember him. Does he know Pittsnoogle?
-
If they have Orton shit in Brooke's bag during the buildup, I will take back every bad thing I've said about him or the WWE in recent years.

Well, more money from Nike is one reason. Well the more money from Nike clause would only apply if he signed with New York or Los Angeles. That's not happening, so its not even worth talking about. Plus I doubt that the clause would make up the money he would lose waiting to become a free agent, as well as the additional contract money you can only receive by resigning with your team. He likes playing in Cleveland and he's happy with the moves they made to put a contending team around him. There's no reason for him to leave now. If he ever decides its not working, he will demand a trade. Simple as that.
-
That's because he's not going to accept. While it is slightly curious that he did not accept the offer immediately, I can't foresee any reason that he won't accept by the end of the holiday weekend.

Two things: Dallas has shown the willingness to overspend to keep the players they want. Mark Cuban has said he is willing to lose money in the short term for a chance at a winning ballclub. The new owner in Phoenix is supposedly very cheap and will not go over the luxury threshold. Second, they are going to trade Marquis Daniels.

Free agent season has begun in the NBA. Negotiations between players and teams start today, but nothing offical can be signed until July 12. -Jason Terry has agreed to a six year deal worth $50 million to stay in Dallas. -Carmelo Anthony has agreed to a five year extension worth $80 million -Lebron James was offered a five year, $80 million extension, but has NOT accepted at this point in time

The Bucks intend to put Charlie Villanueva at the four alongside Andrew Bogut, giving them one of the better young frontcourts in the game. TJ Ford looked amazing coming out of college, but the past two years have shown that they can live without him. As of right now, he doesn't look like a future All-Star. He has spent nearly half of his three years on the injured list and although he is still a great young player, Mo Williams will give them a comparable performance. Charlie was the second best rookie in the game last year, so you can't complain about his potential. As for the Raptors, they already traded for Rasho Nestorovic, and just drafted Bargnani. Jamaal Magloire doesn't really fit into their long-term plans (although there is 0% chance he would have been included in the deal anyways). TJ Ford solves their PG problems and they can now focus their $20 million in cap room towards other pieces to fill out the squad.
-
It'll be Mo Williams. They were going to trade one of the two this offseason. At least they got some good value back.
-
Agreed. It's really rare in this age of the cap that two teams can make a trade that makes sense financially and on the court. Toronto has a logjam up front and needs a point. Done. The Bucks need some help at forward. Done. Both guys have tremendous upside.

I'm sure Jeff will be fine with $4 million he gets for sitting on his ass the rest of the year.

Isn't Court Bauer the dude that was booking Velocity for a while, and getting rave reviews because he kept putting together matches like Regal-Benoit?

You're thinking of success, which doesn't seem to be the point of this thread. It's about who would be called the best wrestler, not the most successful. And who really knows what the answer is. Some wrestlers have some pretty nutty ideas about who's good or not. A few years ago I believe one of the Funk's (Terry probably) said Sabu was the best in the world, or something to that effect. I'd wager to say Flair would get the most mention, even though there's a bunch of guys who were a lot better than him in the ring. But he's the "traditional" pick. Yeah, but I think UTSU has the right idea. Most wrestlers don't think like smarks. They could give a shit less about winning titles, or working a good match. To them the most important thing is making money, and it's really easy to do that when Hulk Hogan is standing across the ring from you.
-
Seriously... someone actually bought this as being real? It's faker than hell.
-
Which is total fucking bullshit. The General Manager has a job to do, and it's put together a winning ballclub. He had the opportunity to improve the team for the postseason and beyond. The Red Sox traded Nomar for God's sake and didn't catch that kind of flak. Lo Duca has a career OBP of like .330. Plaschke should have kept his trap shut.
-
I never quite understood this. Paul LoDuca was a pretty average catcher, and they received Brad Penny and Hee Sop Choi in return. I always conisered that a steal for the Dodgers.
-
That's true. The more I think about it, I realize I don't dislike him all that much. The thing with Plaschke, I agree to a certain extent with what he said, but I don't like when a reporter tries to wage war with a player, GM or manager. That's not really his job. For someone who lived in the LA area during the Plaschke-DePo era, what really went on? I only have second hand info, but I know that he hated the whole statistical revolution and the hiring of DePo (Google Boy?.. Good one, Bill). Was it just the LoDuca trade or something deeper? I know he can't stop sucking off Ned Colletti, but what was his problem with the team winning its first division title since 1996?
