How about the fact that they basically paid Phoenix to draft a player for them that would have almost definitely still been there with their next pick? So they acquired another first round pick that Phoenix was willing to just give away. What's wrong with that?

I guess this is a follow-up to Kane's book... I hope it's Cena.

Screamin A Smith can shut the fuck up. This guy adds nothing redeemable to a broadcast whatsoever. So yeah, the Blazers probably didn't have to trade up to get Lamarcus Aldridge, but other than that they've had a solid day. That team is in disarray and at least there is someone in there who is looking to overhaul the roster.

So now the Shaq trade is finally complete. The Lakers end up with Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown, Brian Gran'ts contract and Jordan Farmar. The Miami Heat get the 2006 NBA championship. How does Mitch have a job again?

Do you think Isiah just said "fuck it, I'm not going to be here anyways."
-
Maybe he thought they were getting Mars Blackman.

100 bucks says Dan Patrick turns up in the East River sometime next week.

I wish Atlanta had taken a small forward. Like say Rudy Gay. OMG, the hilarity. That'd have been like Detroit taking 3 wide receivers in a row in the nfl Forget that, nothing better than the Sonics taking centers 3 years in a row, none of whom are going to contribute anything for a solid five years.

Remember earlier in the thread when I said the Bulls are in great shape and that Paxson is a fantastic GM? Here's a little proof... they get the player they want in the draft, at a lesser cost and get a decent player out of it as well (Kryapa's more than a throw-in). Awesome.

Not a bad strategy for a young team to draft guys who have proven something in college. At least they get known production, whereas taking a gamble on someone could set a franchise back for years.

And their cousin Taka.

Chris Sheridan is saying over in a chat on ESPN that the Garnett to Chicago rumors have been red hot all day, and each camp has a different spin on things. Sounds like both #1s and Chandler could be the ransom. Probably couldn't go official until July 1 for salary cap purposes, but I still doubt that any deal is imminent.

Aldridge was probably going to be there at no. 4. Why trade up?
-
Any idea on what they gave up to move up two spots?
-
My guess on the first few picks based on everything that has been floated around today. 1- Bargnani 2- Thomas 3- Morrison 4- Aldridge 5- Shelden Williams

Here's the pulse on the Bobcats pick, so do what you want with it. -Adam Morrison's agent says he won't fall past 3, but doesn't have any guarantees. Michael Jordan does not like Morrison because he reminds of him of a Dan Majerle type, and Jordan had no problem carving those types up -Brandon Roy would have been the pick but completely blew off working out for them, which enraged Michael -Gay is seemingly the "Jordan Choice", but most feel that he is likely to be a bust at the next level. He is great in workouts, but Jordan was fooled before with Kwame Brown and his workouts

To those of you not living on the west coast, let me remind you that the Pacific Northwest is not one big state. As for the possibility of Morrison AND Roy ending up in Portland, I'd be ecstatic. Hell I'm just happy there aren't any high schoolers for them to waste picks on in this year's draft.

They are going to suck next year no matter what. It was a mistake to draft Telfair in the first place. He won't amount to much more than a quality back-up in the NBA. Might as well cut bait instead of pretending that he might become something.

A-Rod's homer will be downplayed be Yankees fans and then completely forgotten in a few days when he comes up short again. It happens everytime he has a game-winning hit.

On another note, is there any other team in better shape for the next 5 or so years than the Chicago Bulls? They've been to playoffs two straight years, they have an excellent core of young players (Gordon, Deng, Hinrich, Nocioni, Chandler), enough cap room to get two quality players this offseason (Pryzbilla, B Wallace, Harrington?) and STILL have cap room, two picks tonight including the no. 2 and a probable top 5 pick next year in one of the deepest drafts in a long time. Paxson deserves a raise for turning that pile of shit into roses in Chicago.

Just heard on ESPNnews that the Blazers have dealt Sebastian Telfair to the Celtics for the 7 pick and a package of players. I like this deal for the Blazers because Telfair wasn't amounting to anything and they should be able to get a nice player at 7 or package it to get something half decent. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the first part of a larger Iverson trade for the Celtics, but that's still just speculation at this point.
-
Isn't OJ Mayo only a junior in high school? I don't think he would draft eligible under any scenario.
-
Don't forget that Alex is actually a SS, and a damn fine one at that. Gotta love that team player Jeter. If he wasn't making as much money as he is, the Yankees would trade him. I know the Red Sox would take him in a second, but the likelihood that they could work out a deal with New York is between slim and none. A trade would be the best for all involved parties though.
-
The Iverson to the Celtics rumors are really heating up, and seem to be dominating the headlines, which means there is probably no chance that it happens. I love trade rumors, but it would be nice if just one of them would happen once in a while.

I can guarantee that Peja will not go to LA for the mid-level exception. In this free agent market he will likely get something close to a max deal and I think the Pacers will push hard to keep him. They knew from the start he would opt out when they dealt for him, but his agent is saying he wants to stay in Indiana. The LA thing was a rumor back when he was unhappy in Sacramento and wanted to play with Vlade. Well Vlade's retired now so that doesn't mean much.
