Spring college football practices are starting...
Cheech Tremendous replied to therealworldschampion's topic in Sports
You a Ducks fan 909? I try to make it to most of their games at Autzen. -
Some more offseason RUMORS, stolen and abbreviated from Hoopshype for your pleasure: -Anyone, save Carmelo Anthony, is available on the Nuggets. Kenyon Martin is available for nothing, provided the team takes on his entire contract (Isiah Thomas, I am looking your way) -Lakers are ready to move Andew Bynum, but there isn't much interest in him because no one is sure what he can do -Jermaine O'Neal can be had for a top player, or a secondary player and a top draft pick. None of the top 4 in the draft are interested -The Hawks are a likely destination for Allen Iverson, and any trade would likely center around Josh Smith or Marvin Williams -A Jamaal Magloire for Charlie Villanueva swap is a possibility, but the Raptors are looking to add TJ Ford into the mix (good luck)

This stupid beanball shit gets on my nerves, and I wish MLB would just throw the book anytime there was an intentional beaning. With that said, if it were possible to throw at the manager, I'd be all for beaning Ozzie Guillen directly in the head multiple times.

Quick nitpicking: A PPV's success is expressed in the number of "buys" that it receives. A "buyrate" is the number of buys expressed as a percentage of the total number of households that could purchase the event.
-
Other rumors that have been floating around various newspapers around the country: - Jermaine O'Neal to the Bulls (for #2 pick) or Raptors (for #1 pick) - Kevin Garnett to Kings for Brad Miller, Kenny Thomas and Bonzi Wells

Lopez is just going to be a LOOGY, which is surprising because the FO dumped Mike Myers and Chad Bradford this past offseason because they didn't want specialty guys in the bullpen. Lopez has never had much success in the majors (6+ ERA in over 100 innings) and Riske was being wasted behind hacks like Seanez and Tavarez. I think if we can point out one weakness in Theo as GM it's constructing a decent bullpen. Funny how the Sox thought they had too much pitching coming into the season, and now the staff is a wreck. I just hope we don't end up wasting prospects on garbage like Kyle Lohse or Oliver Perez in hopes of finding a 4th and 5th starter.

I don't really know the credibility of whoever posted that, but I'd say it's damn accurate based on the comments of Dave Meltzer and the cryptic remarks of those in the company over the past few years. It was alluded to in the previous post, but I thought Dave Lagana was the guy that Heyman brought on board because he remembered him from the ECW shows, but Dave subsequently threw Heyman under the bus and took his job because he was a major Stephanie kiss-ass.

better hope alvin and eric williams opt out then lol (not likely) There are rumors floating that the Pistons will attempt to do a sign and trade with Wallace to Toronto for Charlie Villanueva. Doubt we see it, but an interesting possibility nonetheless.

-
Seeing that he is signed through 2010 (when he'll be 34), I seriously doubt that.
-
Well played.
-
I would say that is decidedly not obvious, seeing as there is no way in hell Sabu would ever win the title.
-
The New York Knicks are purchased by Cablevision and the Dolans. Well I was referring more to an in-game moment that changed the fortunes of a franchise. The Blazers went from near-locks to win the title to a franchise on life support because of one quarter of basketball.
-
John Nash is finally out in Portland. The guy has just buried basketball in the area to such a degree that I am not sure they can be a viable entity anymore. Sidenote: Can anyone think of a moment that doomed a franchise more than the Blazers collapse against the Lakers in Game 7 of the 2000 Conference Finals?

State Your Unpopular Opinions
Cheech Tremendous replied to milliondollarchamp's topic in The WWE Folder
-Owen Hart was nothing more than a career mid-carder and was out of place any time he was pushed to the main event. He got his position because he was Bret's brother and he is remembered fondly because of his tragic passing. -Steve Austin is given far too much credit for his drawing ability in the Attitude era. That period succeeded because of the great writing and interesting characters up and down the card. Austin was just an important cog in a well-running machine. With that said, his heel run in 2001 did more damage to the WWE long-term than most realize. -HHH has jobbed far too much in big matches the past couple of years. It hurts his credibility when he puts over the next big thing at every WM. In general, he has earned his spot at the top and should continue to play an important role in the main event going forward. -Big Show is the most criminally misused wrestler of this era, and was screwed over by politics far more than Jericho, Benoit, RVD, Christian or any other wrestler that the net thinks should have gotten a longer main event run. -Kane could have been a major draw and been more successful than the Undertaker. The WWE has blown more chances to make him a draw than any other wrestler. He is nearly bulletproof based on the way he has recovered from some of the booking decisions involving him. -Warrior Warrior could be a top heel if he ever decided to return to wrestling. -The WWE spends too much time listening to the internet fans. Net fans in general are far too fickle and short-sighted. They speak for their own personal tastes instead of what is good for the company. -Cruiserweights have their role. It's called the undercard. Most of these wrestlers have no sense of pacing in their matches and their athletic displays end up looking more like acrobatic exhibitions than actual matches. It hurts the credibility of the product. -I would rather watch Ric Flair than most of the new superstars the WWE has brought up in the last few years. He is still gold on the mic and passable in the ring. -Eugene will rebound to become a main-eventer some day. So will Chris Masters. Ken Kennedy will not. -
The lack of Dark Side of the Moon love really astounds me.

First thing they must do is get rid of Flip. If this team considers themselves legit title contenders going forward then they need to have a coach who can win on the road and in tough postseason spots. Flip has shown during his 10 or so years in the league that he is not capable of making the proper adjustments and it will bury this team every year unless they just realize their mistake and cut bait. I would assume that Ben Wallace will end up somewhere else before all is said and done. The new NBA is going to have less of an emphasis on quality big man play and giving him a max contract right now would seriously hurt their financial flexibility in the years to come. He will probably end up in Chicago this summer anyways.

Not saying that this isn't true, but rumor has it WFAN picked up a Newsday article that may or may not have any validity to it. Might be a little premature to declare the deal done.

New Bucks uniforms, or have I misinterpreted?
-
Good. I love terrible uniforms. Pics?

Read between the lines.

Perhaps he was doing a little hands-on research for his bi-sexual character.
-
I guess he didn't know how to play queer. Play?

Not sure when it happened exactly, but it sounds as if Scottie Pippen has gone absolutely insane.
