Didn't the Bucks trade away Ray Allen for Gary Payton and his EXPIRING contract? That's completely different. You can't rationally defend this trade as good for the team, so let's just not even get into it.
-
What makes you so sure there is anyone out there who liked the trade besides you CW?
-
Frankly I'm shocked that Boozer and McGrady aren't Lakers right now. That seemed like a no-brainer to me.
-
As someone who lives in the Portland area and follows the Blazers, why would anyone want Darius Miles?
-
Good luck.

I don't know about that. HHH and Shawn Michaels are still on the roster. You totally killed my Ghostbusters quote, causing no one to tell me how hilarious it was. Thanks a lot, cheech13! You're officially "On Notice". Sorry man, I will try and do better next time.

It's unrealistic because the Rockets aren't going to trade McGrady. He is the cornerstone of that team and when he and Yao are healthy they have one of the best teams in the west. Why would they give up one of the premier players in the game to one of their main competitors for an underachieving Odom or Francis? It doesn't make any sense. KG trades are also unrealistic, but Minnesota is nearing a point where they will have to give up on Garnett. They've realized that with the money they pay him each year, they can't put a championship team around him. They owe it to him to send him to a contender so he can win a championship and they can start their long rebuilding process.

HHH doesn't work Tuesdays.
-
I don't know about that. HHH and Shawn Michaels are still on the roster.
-
But Kingofthe909, don't you realize that every decent player in the league has to go the Lakers or Knicks?
-
See that kind of deal doesn't really work because it makes sense for both teams. Isiah wouldn't allow it. He'd want to give up Channing Frye, a first round pick and expiring contracts for Carlos Boozer.
-
Hey I just heard from a friend in the Kings organization who said that a three team trade involving Sac, LA and San Antonio is going down. The Kings get Tim Duncan and Kobe Bryant LA gets Bonzi Wells San Antonio gets Corliss Williamson and some expiring contracts. I don't know, this might fall apart before the deadline but I'm sure it's going to happen. Idiot.

You are an idiot. Quit wasting everyone's time by coming up with ludicrous trade ideas that could benefit your team.

To expand on my previous post, look at the two teams involved in this deal and what the trade does for them instead of comparing player to player. Heading into today, the Magic had a payroll of roughly $77 million, 5th highest in the NBA. Their record was 19-33. Recognizing they have one good player (Howard), they redesigned the team to accomodate his needs. Heading into 2007 (perceived to be the strongest free agent pool in years), they will have more cap money than anyone and young guys who could have their best years in front of them locked up (Howard, Milicic, Ariza, Arroyo, etc.) Conversely, the Knicks, who had the highest payroll in the NBA, and the second worst record (15-37) added more salary long-term, got rid of a young player and did nothing to secure Frye or any other player as the future of their franchise. That is why it is a losing trade and this is why Isiah sucks. They now have a $30 million starting backcourt that might win them 30 games if they're lucky.

It's not shitting on Isiah. The reality of the NBA these days is putting together a winning team requires long-term planning. It's less about acquiring name players as it having moveable contracts. Flexibility is essential. The reason people question this trade is not because they are worried that Francis won't gel with the team, it's that if he doesn't their hands are tied. The Magic have been looking to move Francis for over a year. Other than a nibble from Minnesota and Denver, no one has really been interested. He and Marbury aren't really moveable because not many teams can throw $13-$18 million at a slightly above average player that hasn't shown the ability to make a team better, or be the cornerstone of a franchise. Steve Francis does not provide much of an upgrade over Penny and Ariza because he doesn't address the needs of the team. They still don't have a PG to distribute to all their shooters. He doesn't improve the defense considerably. He just takes minutes that are already going to Marbury, Crawford and Robinson, all of whom provide the exact same thing that he does.
-
At least we get SOME good news once in a while.
-
It's going to be hilarious. I can almost picture them fighting in the backcourt over the ball. I bet Larry Brown commits suicide within a month.
-
Does the contract stuff with Jalen Rose, Stephon Marbury, Steve Francis, Quentin Richardson, Jerome James, Malik Rose, or Eddy Curry bother you? If not, who gives a shit? At least they will have a legit PF now, knee problems or not.
-
I would assume the KG talks were over when McHale answered the phone and realized that Isiah was on the other end.
-
By the way, is there a source on this Penny for Francis deal? I'm not seeing it reported anywhere.
-
Francis just went to New York. Oops I don't know what that guy was smoking but that trade wasn't happening in a million years.
-
It's funny that there were dozens of trade rumors involving the Knicks floating around this week and the one they end up making was by far the worst.
-
I hate to beat a dead horse but shouldn't this team be looking for a PG or PF?
-
So they didn't get rid of Crawford, and they used up their one trading chip (the Penny contract)?
-
The lack of any coverage from ESPN, Hoopshype, etc. leads me to believe that Garnett is not on the block. If he was, they'd be getting a lot more serious bids than Frye+Hardaway. If this thing does happen it shifts Isiah to second worst GM... McHale becomes the worst.
