The funny thing is, most of the biography is wrong if I remember correctly. -
The Unreal Story Of Professional Wrestling
Cheech Tremendous replied to benoit4hor's topic in General Wrestling
I caught this a couple of years ago. It's utterly worthless, if not slightly entertaining. -
I can't remember exactly, but I think there were rumors of doing Benoit/Brock. I can't remember exactly how it was to play out, but I think Benoit would turn heel and win the belt on Smackdown and drop it to Brock at Mania.

I don't get the fascination everyone has with wanting obscure matches from house shows and such. It seems like everytime one of the match lists comes out for these sets people get angry because so and so match is already available of VHS or DVD somewhere. If I'm going to drop $30 on a DVD, I want all the big matches in one definitive set.

And of course it had to get worse

That Eddy Guerrero-Randy Orton match is really going to be something. Oh wait. -
Except that Stephon probably has the most untradeable contract in the league right now. I think that if anyone bit, they'd ship him out in a second. They have apparently discussed a Penny and Frye for Kenyon Martin deal (Isiah is balking at the inclusion of Frye). Martin's a PF, but that's another deal that leaves me scratching my head. Maybe Thomas thinks that the NBA will change the rules to allow more than one basketball on the floor at a time. That's the sort of team he's assembling, especially if Francis somehow makes his way to NY.

The Miami Heat are a combined 1-10 this year against the Pistons, Mavs, Spurs, Suns, Nets and Nuggets.

Burchill's turned into Johnny Depp from "Pirates of the Caribbean"? That was my first impression as well. He's the Rated Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Superstar

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

Honestly. Do you even know what the fuck "comments that don't warrant a thread" means? I think we need a thread for "Comments not worth reading or commenting on" -
Yeah Bret Hart is a barrier because HE IS NOT COMING BACK. You mention in your original post that he could come back for a match against HBK. Do you realize that Bret cannot work a match? He can't take a punch, a bump or anything. He could maybe do a retirement speech and that's it... he has reiterated the same in every interview. It's a pipe dream to put him in any scenario involving wrestling. I can't really foresee any situation where the Rock would come back either. He is in a completely different stratosphere at this point. Why would he want to jeopardize his career by lowering himself to working with the WWE again? There is no upside for him to work a show at this point, regardless of his love for the profession.
-
The problem with this is that Austin won't work with Hogan, Bret won't come back under any circumstances and the Rock has a lot better things to do than work another match. Other than that, good job.
-
I'd probably do that deal too, but I doubt the Magic would bite. But are Francis and Marbury really that different of players? It just seems like they would be acquiring another name player who does the exact same thing as the guys that are already there. How many shooting guards who think they are points do they need?

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot
Cheech Tremendous replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
I've heard something similar in the past, but I'm not sure if it was legit or not. Seems like they could've called Gravedigger or something and get around the whole Undertaker thing. -
For the reserve spots players can be placed at different positions even if they weren't listed that way on the original all-star ballot. For example, a coach could list Nowitzki or Gasol as a Center if he felt that was the best choice for team.

Not to burst everyone's bubble here, but I heard Goldberg on Bubba yesterday, and I would hardly say that he was expressing interest in TNA. It was more just said in passing that Sting had called him when he joined the company, but that he wasn't really interested at all unless Spike or some other company made a huge effort to take McMahon on head to head (ie bring him, Hogan, Lesnar, etc in).

I'm not sure Warrior could even lace his own boots at this point.

Top 100 WWF/E Matches 1986-2005
Cheech Tremendous replied to slabinskia's topic in General Wrestling
No time to comment on the whole list, but despite what others might say, I think you damn near hit the top 10 dead on. -
At this point, I think it's Steve Nash's award to lose. Even though I supported him for MVP last year, I considered it sort of a fluke and that he was being rewarded for the Suns miraculous turnaround. But it seems like his performance this year continues to show how amazing he really is. I don't think anyone saw the Suns being this good after losing 3/5th of their starting lineup, including Amare.

I guess the Knicks have nowhere to go except up.

Russo was an idiot! How on earth did he ever become involved in wrestling!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That idiot also booked the most successful wrestling promotion on the planet and the largest money drawing feud of all time. -
Okay but now you've described a future team full of league average players. Two solid starters and bench PG don't net a championship or even playoffs in this league. If you are considering this to be their upside, it still leaves questions about filling holes, and how they can go about doing this. Here's the thing about Eddy Curry. He is young, but he's already in his fifth NBA season. We sort of already know what we are getting with him He doesn't play defense that well, he's a below average rebounder, and aninconsistent scorer. Plus he has shown no signs of having the dedication to stay in shape and prove his worth. It's become increasingly obvious in hindsight that the heart thing was blown seriously out of proportion and that realistically, the Bulls didn't want anything to do with him going forward. It seems misguided that you would bank the future of the franchise on that type of player.
-
Sorry, I'm not trying to bash you. This is actually one of the better convos I've had on this board in a while. I don't know the future. I see guys like Gordon, Jefferson, Livingston, etc. as having more of a chance to develop into high quality players than anyone on the Knicks. But I am far from an NBA scout, so to each his own.
-
But just because you have a bunch of young players doesn't mean that things are looking up. Having a bunch of 20-somethings doesn't mean anything when they aren't really that good. You don't have Lebron, or D-Wade, or even a Ben Gordon or Al Jefferson. You have a bunch of nice players, but they aren't getting you to the playoffs by themselves. You have to supplement them, either through free agency or trades. Acquiring Rose doesn't help next year because there aren't teams that can afford to give back $16 million worth of players, unless they too are trying to ditch an equally bad contract. Antonio Davis was a nice trading chip with big money coming off the books this year, and all Isiah could get was a league average SF (which you didn't need) that is grossly overpaid.

Cena's Write is a homer. That's okay, most of us probably are. We want to be optimistic when it comes to our team. It just seems like he should want some more out his team than perpetual 30 win seasons.
