This is the same Eddy Curry who no team in the league (except our beloved Knicks) would touch with a ten foot pole last summer. Suddenly this guy is some kind of star?

2000 50-32 2nd, Atlantic Division Lost East Conf Finals 2001 48-34 3rd, Atlantic Division Lost East Conf 1st Rd --- the end of the "glory days"--- 2002 30-52 7th, Atlantic Division 2003 37-45 5th, Atlantic Division 2004 39-43 3rd, Atlantic Division Lost East Conf 1st Rd 2005 33-49 4th, Atlantic Division What about the last 4 years gives you any cause to be optimistic? Keep in mind we're like $100 million over the cap, have a shitty team and currently have the 3rd worst record in the league at 14-30. The Knicks don't have a single player any GOOD team would trade for. They don't have a plan in place as evidenced by taking in Q and Rose in trades, signing Jerome James and digging the hole even deeper. The Knicks shouldn't want to be lovable losers. Wow, you illustrated that perfectly. The Knicks are getting worse each year while going further and further over the cap. They have nobody of even All-Star quality on their team at this point. There is no upside. Looking at the above referenced post, make a reasonable argument as to how Isiah Thomas has improved this team. The proof is in the numbers.

It's one of those trades that was never going to happen. It's really just the GMs making noise to appease their audience. The Red Sox can go back to Manny and say "look, we tried our best to trade you... no one will make a deal." Conversely, the Angels can act like they tried to add that last big bat to their lineup, but the price was too high. That's all it is really. By the way, one of the prospects was Brandon Wood, the other was Howie Kendrick. That trade wouldn't happen in a million years.

So no more than two or three days ago I was in an argument in this very thread over my concerns of Isiah as a GM. I said he was short-sighted and that the Knicks would never recover under his watch because he would keep taking back bad contracts creating a perputual system of mediocrity. However, several Knicks fans jumped on me, saying that they were optimistic for the future. I dropped the argument. What happens a couple days later? He trades for Jalen F'n Rose and his monstrocity of a contract.cd Can someone let Mr. Thomas know that he's not playing in a Rotissirie league? You don't create a winning ballclub by adding 30-year old mediocre talents with bloated contracts on the downside of their career. Thomas continues to make lateral moves. He makes a trade that keeps the Knicks in the papers, but doesn't make them any better in the short or long term. They trade their lottery pick from this year and Knicks fan says it's okay because there are no good talents in the draft. They acquire a late round pick and Knicks fan says it's great because Thomas knows how to draft. This makes no sense to me. Did anyone consult Larry Brown on this trade? In his one year playing for Brown, Rose had career lows in points and minutes per game. He described it as the worst time of his life. So the Knicks will be suddenly better by adding a shoot first SF with a bad attitude on a team close to mutiny? How anyone sees this as a good trade is beyond me.

That's a great list of DVD's (well, except for the Cena one).

A 5,000 SF wrestling ring? Does anyone realize how big that is? What the fuck is he going to do with that? -
I'm really surprised by the Isiah support on this board. I'm not a Knicks hater... in fact I think its good for the league when the Knicks have a good team. I'm just not optimistics at all for this team. Lee, Frye, Ariza, Robinson - they are nice players with good upside, but I don't think there is a franchise level player there. It's not really a strong core group that can be built around for years to come. As far as the cap goes, they will never even sniff it, but most teams won't anyways. The problem is they have long-term money tied up in Marbury, Crawford, James, Curry, Richardson, all of whom have completely unmovable contracts. Throw in the fact that they are giving up their next two lottery picks to the Bulls and it seems like a recipe for disaster. Where is the upside long-term? They can't sign free-agents, they don't have any desirable contracts, they don't have draft picks and they have average quality young guys that they aren't willing to part with. I see that as failure, but maybe I just have a different outlook on the team than most.

I think it's an average deal for all the teams involved. Mets get to dump Matsui's contract and upgrade at 2B. Livan gives them a top starter who eats innnings. If Minaya really thinks that this year is the year, it would probably be worth giving up Milledge. For the Nationals, they clear a spot at 2B for Soriano and upgrade their ptiching staff at a decent cost (depending on what money gets thrown their way). The Red Sox get a top prospect and a fourth outfielder which is nice, but it leaves them slightly thin in SP, depending on what is done with Wells. It seems reasonable from all sides, but probably one of those deals that dies at the rumor stage. Probably not enough up side to get each team to buy into the deal.

Isiah Thomas has been accused of sexual harrassment by a former team executive, who claims she was later fired for tyring to go through the proper channels reporting the said incident. Does this protect Thomas, or hurt him? With Rob Babcock gone, it's clear that Thomas is the worst GM in basketball. He's been there two years and they are probably the worst team in the league right now and nothing to really look forward to on the horizon.
-
So do the accusations against Isiah protect him for the rest of the year, or make it easier to can him? The Knicks are a bad, bad team right now and it can all be traced to Isiah's moves.
-
Wow, I didn't know that I was so fucking retarded... thanks for clearing that up. By the way, the Mets would most likely be getting Livan Hernandez and dumping Matsui's contract in addition to Vidro. I don't know if that's worth giving up Milledge, but it's not that far-fetched if Minaya really thinks he can compete this year. But whatever.

Your Red Sox trade rumor of the day: WEEI and SOSH are buzzing with a rumored three team deal between the Red Sox, Mets and Nationals. Red Sox receive: Lastings Milledge, Xavier Nady ( and Kaz Matsui ??) Nationals receive: Matt Clement, Alex Cora, $ Mets receive: Jose Vidro, Jay Bergman, PTBNL ( and Livan Hernandez ??) Several sources say its close to done but the Sox are reluctant to give up starting pitching this close to ST. Take that for whatever it's worth.
-
I don't know why the Sox were so enamored with getting Alex Gonzalez. Doesn't Alex Cora offer about the same thing?
-
Somehow I can't help but think that Joe Girardi should have bigger things to worry about than stubble. On the plus side, I doubt there is anyone old enough on the current Marlins team to even grow facial hair.

The fuck? I realise it was Russo..leave it at that? This was at least 6 months before Russo joined the company. Then I re-offer my 'the fuck?' How do you pin in a steel cage first blood? The only real answer I have is that it's WCW.

If he stays healhly (a huge if), this is a great deal for the A's. They are starting to look like a team that could make a major run next year.

I think just about every wrestler out there (except Goldberg, Hogan, Austin or Rock) would work gladly work TNA for $500k per year. -
How do you figure? Peja is just two years removed from a run at MVP. Odom, to my knowledge, has never even been an All-Star. I know that Peja is down right now, and is a horrible defender, but I think he'd be worth a little more than Odom. Frankly, I think he's worth a lot more than Artest as well (who I still believe is talented, but massively overrated).
-
Yeah but then you are giving up two players for Lamar Odom (who isn't even on Peja's level by himself).
-
Yeah I'm sure that they would wait this long to trade for Q Richardson. Give me a break. I'm sorry my joke got you so angry. Hey no harm done. I thought you might have actually been serious for a moment.

Why isn't there something in the CBA about refusing to show up. You would think after the shit Alonzo Mourning and Jim Jackson pulled last year that there would be some heavy repercussions for failing to report. I don't understand how a player can hold an entire team hostage like this.
