Miami Heat signed Shaun Livingston to a two-year deal, according the news crawler on ESPN.

Or if they can acquire Kemp, he just shifts to rightfield in 2010 or whenever Jackson is ready.

WWE doesn't acknowledge the Inoki title reign anymore? That's retarded.

It would have been the right call had they turned HHH face the night after Mania.

Essentially, yes. The belt hasn't meant much since the Rock lost it in '98. It's had spurts where the wrestlers holding the title were good (Jericho, Benoit, Angle, etc.) but the belt itself and the feuds surrounding it have had little promotional impact. Perhaps this is just me, but if I'm going to sit down and watch a DVD of old matches, it's more about about reliving the moments (Warrior squashing Honkey, Bulldog winning in Wembley, etc.) than seeing a solid *** match. I feel little nostalgia for anything thrown out there on Disc 3.
-
First two discs look solid (downside is there a lot of repeat offerings), but the third is craptastic. Kind of a microcosm for what's happened to the belt in the last 5-10 years.

Wasn't trying to say that he's bad, but Hudson is that much better. With Jeter still at short they really need someone elite at 2B. Do you know how incredible Wang will look if he's got Hudson and Teixeira in that infield?

I don't think that Ethier can play center. Perhaps I'm wrong though. That Cano-Kemp deal seems suspicious to me as well. Dodgers give up the better player and have to take on payroll? That doesn't make much sense to me, unless there are pieces in place for an expanded deal that we don't know about. If the Yankees swing that deal, and can acquire Hudson and Teixeira in free agency, look out. That basically solves their defensive issues and still leaves them enough money to acquire a big pitcher.

I'm really down on Scavenger Town. Seems like it's just a bunch of wrestling stuff.

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis

House approves bailout Final vote was 263-171. I'm not happy with some of the provisions in this new pork-filled plan, but I'm still of the opinion that the $700 billion is absolutely necessary. I do like that there seems to be quite a bit of oversight into how the money gets spent and when and how it will be paid back. -

Not sure where to put this, as it an interesting, but essentially meaningless tidbit. David DeJesus of the Royals was the most efficient RBI man in baseball this year, knocking in 21.47% of all baserunners that were on when he came to bat. Ryan Howard was tops in the NL at just over 20%. I don't really know if this is a repeatable skill, but maybe there is something to the Yankees rumored pursuit of DeJesus. It's certainly not his defense, which rated out as poor by most metrics. Oh, and what's the deal with the Yankees shopping Cano? I don't put a ton of stock in trade rumors, but it seems like his name is dropped in almost every rumored deal out there. Has management soured on him that much? Or is it just a matter of moving talent to acquire pieces that are needed elsewhere?

I just started watching the show this season, but tonight's episode was unreal. I haven't laughed that hard at a tv show in years. -
On second thought, maybe it is a good thing that Czech took a playoff hiatus.

I don't have much familiarity with the imports, but I've had probably 80% of the stuff listed on the American side. The offerings from Stone (IPA, Arrogant Bastard and Smoked Porter) are all quite good. Stone is a good place to go if you are looking for more adventurous versions of traditional American brews. Sierra Nevada, Fat Tire, Anchor Steam and Kona all play well to the more middle of the road beer drinker. Solid brews, but underwhelming if you want deep flavor or extreme hoppiness. Dogfish Head we've discussed here before. The 90 Minute IPA takes some preparation as it has a strong alcohol taste. I'm not a big fan of the Oktoberfest beers. When I do indulge, Widmer Okto is usually my choice. That's probably just because it's easy to find around here. Hope that helps a little. EDIT: On second look, I've had most of those imported beers too. I wouldn't recommend any of them, but that's more of a personal call.

Your daily economic update, courtesy of the New York Times. The Senate's passage of the bailout was a step in the right direction, but the economic conditions continue to worsen under the specter of vanishing credit. Credit worries continue -

Omar Minaya's extension became official today. It is a four-year extension with two more option years. That's six years for a GM! I was one of the few people that actually supported him returning, but that's just overly excessive considering Cashman and Epstein just signed new three-year extensions.

I don't know how he rates in right, but Matthews was one of the worst defensive centerfielders in baseball. The reputation doesn't match the performance. Martinez made it sound like he lost it in the lights. I'm not so sure about that.
